What a tune.. if you ever get 5 minutes listen to Gladiator by h2o.. as i would love your feedback.. how can i make my track from ok to great! I could do with some proper feedback.
Super tune guys.. love the beats & synth pads & lead melodies.. it really drives along ...rated too.
top notch fella. nice hooky summer sound :)
Must have missed this last year but glad we got to it this time. Great summery feel that has a good feel factor with plenty of great sounds that never become tiresome. In fact it didn't seem long enough! Excellent and easily rated.
Very comercial tune going down here Aaron, the frequency zapped strings are a nice sound(nice idea)just upper ranges! Like the vocoder samples, are they you? Never heard the original but im digging this, worth the effect im feeling the hard work gone into this.
Eyes close, smile on, right arm raised, pumping.
I love the vox effects. This pumps along quite nicely. Plenty of variation. Enjoyed.
Aaron! Again, your production is precise and clear. You never let the listener get bored. Super happy, up-tempo, summer-loving track. Begging to be a hit. Can't go wrong with some of that goodness. T-Bone
Wow...! This song is epic! Never heard the original of this, but I'm enjoying the updated version quite a bit. Kudos! :) -Phenom
I remember this song! I remember the vocod- yep! There it is. I can make it out this time! Wowwwww, man! That sounds totally awesome. Then there's that really cool synth melody you made. That's a very original string sound, man. I love that sound. Very original. I also like how you build the beats into the vocoder again. It sounds a lot more clear this time around. I like the sampling of the vocal, too. It sounds very cool with the song. Now I'm at a break with the vocoder. The emotion of this song makes me think of my astral sensations I get. Very alluring and full of that "fantasy" feel. A very wide atmosphere full of emotion and wonder. That perc/arp (?) line really gives the song a mystical feel. Very complicatedly simple in creating such a feeling. Wonderful job. Now a final section of the song with more sampling. The synth string sound keeps going and there's plenty of fills and detail. The song does linger but it's not a downer by any means at all. I actually think it's good you made it long. I really like hearing that synth line and I could sit and listen to it all day if I wanted to. Well... at least a couple hours. lol Very mesmerizing tune! I like the ending, too. Real subtle and gentle end. Production wise it's very posture filled. Not plain but simple. It's clear sounding but not like CLEAR, clear. It could be spruced up but why? I don't see any need to unless you're going to put it on a CD or something. A straight sounding production, I'd say. The mix is solid. Like a brick, man. Nothing's clashing, nobodies fighting, the harmony is emanating and by gosh, I can tell you took the time to polish the sounds to shine at the same brightness as everything else; meaning all the frequencies line up very well. Nice work done there. You're very good at mixing. I'll tell you that. Nothing wrong with the arrangement. It all flows smoother than a baby's butt. I like this mix. Very cool. Have an awesome day, man!
Smooth Aaron. Love the sweeps. I could guitar to this one!
nice!
Cool FX on the vox, nice arps too.Luv it when it all comes in...sweeet...big sound you've got,but crystal clear production.Missed the first mix,but with this 6 minutes flew by.Nice work R8ed(obviously:)
When it's this good, it's never too long...Wow.. Dan
Great tune! The sort that makes me wish I was twenty years younger and could try this out on the dance floor...Personally, I found the first 2:20 and the outro the most interesting parts of the piece; but I can see where the intense repetition after 2:20 would be more appreciated if one were actually moving! Well done! Enjoyed my listen.
Hey Aaron, mustve missed this one before. Pleased i caught it now tho! Really uplifting track. Love those huge sweeping synths, and especially that synth towards the end. (filtered type sound)? Nice break down at 2.20, but wouldnt agree with you its the strongest point, as its all pretty damn strong to be truthful. Could really hear this fitting very nicely on a car show, you know when theyre reviewing the motor and driving at high speeds, with all the impressive camera work! This is the feel it gives me. Lots of energy, but very classy and melodic at the same time. Exceptional work!
Very 80's and very catchy, great stuff. Rated. Craig
lovely driving/walking/running whatever the **** you wana do track- great stringi rif sticks in the head nicely thanks- 1st song i've downloaded from this site!
cracking intro - very old skool, those arps remind me of Infinity by Guru Josh, nice retro elements there into a nice little drop. yep, it gets my seal of approval lol, nice build, good one - i think this is the 1st new tune u have posted since i became active at the beginning of this year, nice considering your last lot of tunes are so good. atb, g.
been a while since i seen a new one from you... to start some nice chords... has that break beat feel and the 80's style as u mention. arping away here and i like the panned, filtered and synth work and vocals are worked on quite well... nice and catchy. i find the lower bass kick ass but it lacks in the higher end... cuz i can't hear bass on my cheap headphones but its great on the subs :D But... great prodution and far better than anything that i could produce... really great and sweet track and deff rated Matt
Top-notch construction.....reckon the strings are worth smoothing......vocals excellent and it's a catchy tune.......congrats on all the rates......added mine. Kevin Mooney
Heh, thought I'd commented on this already. Definitely listened to it last week. Anyway, absolutely perfect to my ears. Gorgeous deep & smooth bass, very tight, great arpeggiators, synths all round placed very well, and the sampled vocal is effectively used. Hopefully see this on a new CD of yours soon :-P , Rated :) Kiopo
good vocoder and synth use, the trance and dance craftship is there, cool breakdown, but the beat just kicks in again just a little to easy, i expected more out of it guess, also i am missing some solid base to power it up. i like, but i know you can make this better...
Missed this, just caught the charts nad hey there you were! Nice one, really love those synth sounds which is quite a rarity for me but a great groove and a thundering good listen. Loved the vocal 80's vibe. Great.
Not my style but the production was top notch! Couldn't make out the vocals through the BIG vocoder though! Then again, they work well as another instrument;-) Good job, has a bit more thought behind it than a lot of the genre. Gets a rate.
Hi Aaron Nice little tune very simple and poppy and there's nothing wrong with that. Happy Xmas! Cheers
Alright, guy. I couldn't help but see you had a new song. I like your style a lot so I'm going to comment on it! Nice slow beginning. Nice and full of life. Those beats are classic, man. Lovem'! Awesome bass line. Sounds very harmonic with those slow moving... string synths? Yes? No? Moving on.. lol Then a vocoder. Nice touch. It's kind of hard to make out a few words but that's no problem. It sounds cool and cool is gooood. I'm getting a bright feeling from this. The sprinkling synth sounds great. Nice addition to the emotion effect of the song. Again, very harmonic. That slow moving string synth line reminds me of an older techno song... can't put my finger on it, though. All in all, I was diggin' that snare the whole way. lol It's my perception that you had a lot of fun on this! The ensemble was close to flawless. Very harmonic. I like that. I don't want to say anything negative about the vocoder because it didn't sound bad. I mean, come on... how many cool songs have anybody else heard where they had NO IDEA what the band was saying...? But it didn't matter cuz it sounded cool, right? Hahahaha! Oh man. I talk too much. Anyway. Great song. Great work! I'll make sure to find you when you have a new song out. Have a rate and a spectacular day!
This is great Aaron....love the vocoder on the vox works really well. Nice to see you making some tunes again, gets my rate ;)
Come back for another listen. Nominated now!
Finally this played for me. My sixth attempt and so I am persistent if nothing else and also any song by the Theory demands a listen 4sure. I love the clarity of the mix - breathtaking - especially to someone who is on a learning curve a la mois. Agree with Marty on the whole - though I don't pretend to have his technical nouse yet. I wanted to see a visual while listening to this - I can hear something quite deep emotionally and its so expressive - like a female android is about to be dismantled and the male android is really not happy about that - (wipes tear from eye) - this is a great song. Easy R
Massive 80s chords in that intro!!!! Cool little electro beat and nice little drop, i was expecting it to take off but thats too predictable, nice one keeping me from thinking it was! :) Cool arp, pure 80s'ness <-- Some word there! lol Liking the vocoded voice, its kinda hard to hear what he is saying but i like the tone, fits in nicely with the track. Out of curiosity, did you do that with FLs vocoder? The breakdown is really classy sounding, i really think this track could benefit greatly from some sidechaine pumping and give it a modern feel as well as an 80s feel combine both. The outro arp is cool as fuk tho, sounds filtered like fuk and the panning really adds a nice touch of stereo separation, using up that spectrum makes a mix sound good! lol Anyways Red, bee a while since i heard a track from you and i have to say this is really a track and a half!!!! Best of luck with it bud! Marty
More pop oriented than your usual stuff which I find great. I'd love the snare to be more in your face. The vocal sounds dreamy although it is distorted so much (too much?). Lovely pop tune.
Really catchy upbeat track. Love the arps and the vocoder. Definitely an 80's feel. Nice bassline but could be louder in the mix. Rated. Craig
just read what I wrote - mm slightly confusing. At 4:20 you kill the drums for outro. You could have done that somewhere in the middle as well.
love the arp in this. Not too mad about the vocoded vocal. Nice chilled pad at the break. Gets a bit repetitive for me - could have killed the drums around 4:20 in the middle of the track and brought everything back to mix it up a bit.
Havnt heard a Redshirt track in awhile now. This definitely has a Daftpunk feel to it, love there tunes. Great vox in this, Niceone Red
A bit more mellow than usual, which suits, a nice ambient dance feel. The vox sample fits nicely in the mix. Another top track. ONAGER
great track,, my daughter was dancing behind me,,she never dances to my rock songs!!!!
as nickjam said not plastered with elements nice clean beats arp and synths, all with a lot of care and effort put into them, vocoder works for me,daft punk what genre's that lol classic:)very good track, good to hear some new stuff from yourself,
Hi Aaron, good to see you back around mate, nice commercial vibe to the track..loving anything with a vocoded part, the track does have and 80's vibe and can also hear daft punk in there too...so i guess it goes a ways to pretty much your intention, very catchy vocal hook and sweet synths sounds make this a top package, welcome back, look forward to hearing more :)
Nice and melodic - sweet choice of chords - if I didn't know better I'd have said it was a female voice but then agen I know nowt about vocoders. A bit lacking in bass dude but a good listen and rated.
A bit commercial for me mate but a good track, solid structure and nice octavial synth pattern :) Needs some beef and a kick up the back-side with regards to bass and kick drum
really nice vibe in this. i like the vocodered vox. you have this weay of making your tunes sound full without having to have loads of sounds in it. good work. your first tune in a while ? well, welcome back
Great intro, epic soundscapes. Like that 80's arp coming in. Nice work on the vocals...fx. Subtle variation in the structure builds the track nicely. A bit of break and the strings appear again. Only awaiting near the end in a bit of a new variation on the theme. Cool track definatly got chartpotential! Great work again!
Daft Punk? lol never heard of it,(I do love these genre names:-) but if that's what it is, well it does have a sort of 80's feel to it, certainly got a euro vibe also. Cant fault the overall production etc, well put together, nice beat, and some good sounds weaving through the melody, it seems to me a very accessible tune that should appeal to many. Nice one!
Nice build up with the synth! Really nice groove to this Aaron! I always thought vocoders were way over used once Cher's hit hit the charts! but you just beat the .... out of this vocoder setting! Indiscernable and obscure which is why it's so appealing! Good structure and production! Easy floor filler!
Liked it all, sounds like a proper hit to me, the vocoder bits are a genius hook, a proper pop/dance crossover track :) Rated
Good to hear you back Red. I'm always afraid to turn it up with you trance/techno guys. I was waiting for the thrash to rip my speaks but it never came. I like this, nice up beat, cool vox treatment. Have a well deserved rate friend!
I liked this redshirt theory, liked the vocoder vocal effect, and the euro-pop theme - very cheery track. Nicely produced. Good work. Sonya Stewart.
Nice picture. Who's the bloke in the doorway? And I enjoyed the song, the euro-poppy bits especially. One day I'll try to write happy songs too, like you and WaVeS do, but for now I am just happy getting through the evening listening to excellent tunes like this.
nice track dude....ill ignore the old man.... he knows nothing ;) happy xmas dude
You have so much style and class. Much more than another "half's" can't even use the language correctly dude we know. Nice vocoder. What is it? I would tune it down just a bit ( the vocoder ) to understand the words. My French buddies in Daft Punk always make sure you understand the words. Nice smooth commercial feel that needs just a bit of change to make it BIGGER. Lift the bass and snare while yer at it. peace.
Hailing from the Southern California coast, Aaron Jones (Redshirt Theory) developed his innate musical sensibility from his father who played guitar in a local band. Over time Aaron was introduced to classic rock bands like The Beatles, The Who, and Queen; classical composers like Aaron Copeland and Carl Orff; and electronic bands like Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and Daft Punk. His inspiration to compose stemmed from the undulating beat mixes of bands like the Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers. Impressed by all genres, he quickly found a niche; creating his own style of infusing various instruments with complex beat patterns. This unique sound experiment soon landed him contracts with video game distributors and local Arts groups.
Since 2005, Aaron Jones has collaborated with the prestigious Arts organization, Quixotic Fusion in Kansas City, and has been featured in over twenty games for the Wii, Xbox360, and PS3 consoles. His collaborative mission keeps his style innovative, mixing electronica with instruments that are unconventional to the electronic scene. Recent collaborations include compositions with sitar, banjo, and Celtic flutes. These challenges distinguish his unparalleled approach and are quickly making Redshirt Theory internationally recognized. As an artist that doesn’t settle for conformist musical views, Redshirt Theory continues to explore electronic music’s vast avenues and push the limits for a redefined musical genre.

So here I am with another review. This week, I took on a different approach of choosing who the victim/lucky person would be. I'm not being egotistical by any means. I love writing reviews and giving people a perspective of their music not thought possible. Basically; a good experience. And not just for the artist but the readers themselves. This week... I decided whoever got #1 on the weekly char
I have to admit that upon the first listen, I found this track confusing in that I was slightly unsure as to where it was going. It has an exceptionally complex structure which takes a few listens to really get to grips with. This is not necessarily a bad thing, however, btu in general, I do feel that the track is much longer than it needs to be. The 1:15 long intro builds exceptionally well,
The first artist this month from MP3 Unsigned is an old mate, Redshirt Theory whose IDM stylee has captured my ears a time or two over the last year or so - and I don't particularly like dance that much. Mind you, I do like almost everything so long as its done well and has plenty to say and on that score it's not surprising that Redshirt Theory should be such a big deal on that site. Funnily enou
Your reviewer can’t help thinking that he’s on a hiding to nothing taking on a track that, at the time of writing, had received 52 comments, 37 ratings, been downloaded 31 times and hit the #1 spot here on MP3Unsigned. But hey, that’s the price you pay for inviting requests for reviews. Mind you, couple that with the fact that one half of this collaboration (Redshirt Theory) has had, at t
Well first of all I have to say I've been following the progress between The Tartan Rascals and Redshirt Theory over the last few months and they never fail to amaze me with their combined talents. Akkie's great guitar work, Redshirts kick ass beats and Stevie's vocals all make for a great fusion of sounds. (Don't forget to mail that cheque to me :-p) Right onto the track. I think the thing
"Come Home" is Redshirts second entry into the 'elements' competition after the stunning 'Infliction' track which I highly recommend you give a listen. Comparisons aside, "Come Home" is another successful collab with the Tartan Rascals and a fine entry into the competition, focusing as Reshirt describes on 'human emotions as they are important "elements" to our lives', which I thought was a pretty
could easily see myself going crazy to this version of the sheds original. keep up the good work. any chance you'll do a version where you drop the beat in the middle only to bring it stomping back with 'one from the quiver' ringing over and over in my blessed ears. BTW i always thought the lyrics were 'run from the river' but apparently its as stated .one from the quiver is a reference to how goo
Right first of all I would like to just quickly say that Redshirt Thoery aka. Aaron Jones, is one of the many artists on this site that I am in awe of. His talents coupled with his sheer determination never cease to amaze me. He has a great personality and his passion for music is clearly apparent in all that he does. Okay then so onto the track. First of all it starts off with a nice trippy
Ninety comments! It's hard to imagine I could add anything to what's already been said about this track, but I'm certainly going to give it a go. Senser. Prodigy. It's all that's basically going through my mind when I'm listening to this. I love those bands, and I'm automatically loving this. This track kicks some serious gluteus maximus. Massive beats hypnotise immediately, ensuring they're
Redshirt Theory's Blue Mind in a Red State takes the listener on quite a journey. As he describes it, ths song takes you from pain to letting loose brilliantly. Although the first half of the song went a little long, it does build up the "pain" quite nice to be released halfway through the song. Early on, the synthesized strings (I think) remind me of the
My review of the artist formally known as dj redshirt now the Redshirt Theory Track Blue mind in a red state First off a small but very informal discussion J Mr Redshirt and I are kinda in a love hate relasanship I hate him he loves me J That will do now for the review The into is really cool to this track, very trippy & haunting. reall
At least I think this is the track I am supposed to review but my copy says this is called Good Faith so I'm a bit confused. Situation normal then. I'm not confused about Redshirt Theory though because Aaron Jones (for it is he) has delivered some very neat music my way over the past few months. One of which, Its Been a Long Time (June 2006) got a Must Have rating from me a
This is my first ever review on this site and boy did I pick a 'biggy'! It has been sitting at the top of the charts for the past week and on hearing it, that is no surprise at all.It has been welcomed on the site as a whole as a great piece of work and at 9 minutes long, the listener clearly gets their monies worth. I have to add at this point that those of you who know my work, will realise, tha
Wow. This just grabbed me, straight from the start! The synth line is great, and to me it feels really big. Certain synth sounds that come into it during the first part sound immense, really adding to the overall feel of the piece. The drums are good and powerful, banging away like nobody's business! The vocals are excellently delivered, really complimenting the music, and Saphire really does
Awesome work bro! Way cool. The changes completely make this different. I could definitely hit the nightlife listening to this. Keep it up!
For those who don’t know me where have you been? Although I will give you the benefit of the doubt and introduce myself as the Singer-Songwriter from Serenity or the nutty bird known as RainyD here at Mp3unsigned.com. I would also like to point out I am no producer and usually team up with the incredibly talented Virus (just because he’s a G and better than me at production really).&nb;
As I've said before...this track is simply awesome. Marks' vocals are exquisite! Strong, dynamic, energetic...you engage the listener from the beginning to end. Production is top of the line, probably woulda had a little phatter bass line throughout but for the most part, this is an excellent collab. How does one follow up on this track? A remix perhaps? hmmm Definitely radio/club mater
Third time around for MP3 Unsigned's The Redshirt adn I must admit I was really curious to hear what they'd dished up this time. Warmed Up (February 2006) certainly piqued my curiousity even though - for my money - it wasn't the slam bang track it should have been. Its Been a Long Time (June 2006), however was everything that their first track had hinted at and then some. A solid
Redshirt - Moon Shine
I first came across this MP3 Unsigned artist when I reviewed his Warmed Up (February 2006) which I liked but thought that somehow it missed the mark. It SHOULD have been a killer track because it had everything going for it, but to my ears there was something essential missing. At the end of that review I wrote 'it's fairly obvious that if this is an example of what The Redshirt does,
Hello everyone! This is an honor to review the well-known, electronic artist DJ Redshirt, who happens to walk around here with no shirt on. Why is it an honor? Well, because he’s one of my favorite artists here on MP3Unsigned and I couldn’t wait to get to do this review! Now keep in mind that this is a remix (as it’s clearly labeled, “Embers (The Redshirt Remix)”), howe
Seen My Friends? This is a haunting piece of music. I feel a little like it is from a different level of existance---a sort of cloudy floating mist! Altogether an impressive piece of work. Thank You for sharing it.
I am listening to talent -- This is nothing short of genius! I appreciate good hard pounding dance music. It Is Right Here!
Can we say "Download"?? Good job!
OOPS I did not mean to push tis button,,, I am listening and my fingers were tapping and i accidentally hit it again I'm not sorry but it is embarrasing
I had trouble getting to listen to the music as my computer for some reason didnt engage the player here,, I downloaded it and I have to tell you that I am SO pleased that I DID. The song is fabulous. I love music but only music that is good, I have to download some more,, so I'll be back without a doubt.! ! !
I had already commented on this but thought i'd officially review... Now this is not really what i listen to on a daily basis, but that being said, I really dig this stuff!
I want to cry. This is an amazing song, another redshirt masterpeice anyone might think. however for once i have some things to pick at in this track, but again its not much. I'll as usual start with the negatives, the intro to my ears is to repetitive, could just be the mood im in but, really is to much for me, it also echos the same repitieve nature through the entire song, which im not to
Two words come to mind in this track, "Holy" and "Shi*t" this really is a cracking production, theres absolutoly nothing i can say wrong about this track, actually im lieing i can, one thing, and thats the vocals the get on my nervs a bit becuas they are few and far between, i would like to hear more of them, but when they do appear they fit in so well to this song. I'm litrelly blowen awa
Energy. I decided yesterday that I was going to write my first proper review on Mp3 unsigned and I spent most of the day listening to new tunes. To be honest I was a little deterred that the majority of the music on the boards was not my usual preferred genre/style(s). The majority of what I listened to was electronica, Hip-Hop trance and dance and given that my preferred/favourite
My Religion By The RedshirtOk, first I'm going to start off with a question...... What the hell is this tune doing on MP3 unsigned?Right now this tune should be sat in Records boxes across the globe pressed by some big European dance lable. Its that good! This is really hard for me because before I did any reviews (this is my second), I told myself I would never give a 10/10 to anything
Ok Here goes, no offence intended to the original but i like this much better, having listened to both i disliked the first it didn't keep me very interested through the song. the remix however is more up my street, redshirt as always has captured a great sound in this track, its a pleasure to review, purely because i listen to the tracks i review a hell of alot and usually loop them in the b
Well here goes this is my last review of this session, and im about to review what I assume is one of the heavy weights on mp3unsigned. I am basing this on the amount of QUALITY artists that leave comments on his page I also want to make this clear dj redshirt asked me to review this track, the way he reviews his. this is based on 7=10’s but I just don’t see the point, as the template us
The Redshirt (not to be confused with anything else of a bloody colour) is an MP3 Unsigned artist I have not had the pleasure to review as yet, but just reading some of the blurb on his page gave me much to chew over. A electronica artist from California The Redshirt claims he is ' is the start of a revolution back to the big beats of electronic music. We have slowly let our electronic
I’ll start by saying, I know nothing what so ever about Electronica, in fact I can honestly say I know less than that. And to be perfectly honest I picked this track because its description is Hard Dance, Guitar Rock Clash If I had to sum this track up quickly I’d say its ‘Edgy’ not in a bad way, in a fat way. It started off and right away you know this track shows a promise of things to
I cannot believe that not many more people jumped at the chance to review one of MP3Unsigned.com's most talented artists..I could'nt wait to sort this one out. The track is seriousley tough man, it has a built up aggression that is transposed through music perfect. I have always thought very highlt of The Redshirt..I remember when the dude first came onto the scene and his music
The Redshirt is a US Electronica producer. There are a ton of Electronica artists populating MP3Unsigned, and he is just one of them. I haven't heard The Redshirt's music until he asked me to review "Freedom". Took several listens and here is what I think.....
