My Religion
By The Redshirt

Ok, first I'm going to start off with a question......   What the hell is this tune doing on MP3 unsigned?

Right now this tune should be sat in Records boxes across the globe pressed by some big European dance lable. Its that good!

This is really hard for me because before I did any reviews (this is my second), I told myself I would never give a 10/10 to anything, unless it was LITERALLY the best tune EVER.... it was really bloody hard not giving this 10/10, it almost feels mean.....

Track Structure
This tune is almost perfect to start a Hard Dance set about 3am on a saturday morning in some mad-cap summer festival. It gets in there, flat out, not questions asked. Banging from the off. Blazing synths over a solid bass and crazy stabs helping the transition between sections. All the while the mental vocals driving the tune on. The breakdown is brilliant, full of suspense as the main riff builds. The various sections after the main break wind the tune down nicely. The whole tune is layered wonderfully, with the Underworld-esq vocal the real Icing on the Cake.

Now, one minor qualm....   and really just a point of preference. In my opinion the most powerful part of the tune was the beginning, where it bursts into life with real venom. Maybe a second breakdown which breaks hard like the intro would be really good. So....9/10 (i feel so mean!)

Musical Interest
Presuming this means my interest...
Put it this way.... If I went into my local record shop to buy a record or two, and this was on the shelf, I'd buy it, straight up. This is just how I like my Hard Dance... Hard as Nails. 10/10 (ah, thats better!)

Melody
Hard to score this one really, because Hard Dance, by it's very nature, isn't really  very melodic. When  I was doing my first review  I described it  like this, "I think a 10/10 melody would be something that gets stuck in your head and stays there for weeks". I think although this tune is brilliant, it doesn't quite live up to this status. But then again, very few Hard Dance tunes do. 9/10

Musical Performance

Again a hard one to score, because it's not a Performance as such. So I rate this on Creative ability. The various stabs and riffs are excellent, and fit beautifully together. The beats are well made and really solid. The bass (something I always have trouble with), is pounding and would have any dancefloor rocking. The samples are all perfectly used, with the vocals simply exceptional. I really can't fault  the effort thats gone into this. 10/10

Recording Quality
Spot on I reckon....need I say more? 10/10

Lyrics
The vocals are really quality. Not a 'song' in the conventional sense, but Dance tracks can get away with repetitive vocals, and get away with it you do....10/10

Enjoyment
I'll rate this in two parts

Pt 1: Listening at home
The build up gets me interested, then it breaks and I know instanly 'this is gonna be good!'......*1 minute later*  ..... Im dancing about, scaring the cat.10/10

Pt2: Listening in a Club while on Drugs
The build up gets me interest, then it breaks, I have a fit and pass out!......*1 minute later* Im dancing about....scaring the general public.10/10

All in all, if my maths is correct, its 10/10

Commercial Appeal
I'm gonna drop a point here, and I'll tell you why.....   It's the sad truth that Hard Dance is a dying Genre (in the UK at least), its especially sad for me because for years it was my favourite genre. For this reason not many smaller labels are  appearing and the bigger labels are relectutant to take on Artists. The amount of regular Hard Dance Raves and Clubnights is steadily decling indictating a rapid decrease in listeners. I think although the fans who are out there would no doubt like this, they're a dying breed, and for that reason its a 9/10

So...........

Well bloody hell, I bet it sounds like Mr Redshirt paid me to write this review! I really did enjoy this and it was hard to fault, although I tried my best!

I think this guy is heading for bigger and better things....
