Great chord progression and killer vocals, a different sound, kind of melancholy but very well produced, sharp and crisp!! Great job!!! - DJ Frankie
Hi there Redshirt Theory, I've been walking through the Mp3 Unsigned Hall Of Fame and it's great to see that this is currently the most popular Alternative track of all time on this site with 49 votes. I like it alot and I can see why it made No.1. Anyway I've voted and this popular track is now on 50. All the best. PJ
now this is great music!!! very very good arrangement, great voice ... everything is pretty perfect here ... respect!!! peace, rei
Very nice!!
a sublime tune and that intro is *****n' sweet m8 - the whole thing sounds effortless which is the secret of good music, great stuff.
Great production, the melody flows forward like you're travelling somewhere. Good stuff.

Hi, Amazing. Cool. Definitely well-produced. Clean. Catchy. Quirky. Love. It. Rated and nominated. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie

Ditto the production skills... real pro Red! solid and enjoyable! this works for me!
What a Beatles (JL) vibe! Its undeniable! Love the vocal treatment. Great melody & performances! Got a get a rate!
Your overall quality, song writing, vocals, and production is so damn good I can't even begin to get my head wrapped around it. This is so out of my genre I cant comment on specific sounds I am hearing becasue i don't know if they are pads..synths..triggers...whatever..it's jsut great. i appreciate your words on my page...I appreciate your work. I have a song in the works on my page called In MY Mind...if you get a chance could you give it a listen...I need direction with it. I only played guitar bass and drums on it. I am not looking for a rate on it...just advice as to what I can add to fill it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks BFB

Wow! Classic Britpop a la Franz Ferdinand plus a solid beat and a great production. Great combination!
I would love stuuf like this to recover the big spots
Congrats on no1. absolutely fell in love with the break in this song, stuff the neighbours, this is going on loud! Angel xx
Congratulations on this #1 charter this week! :) (I am like a journel entry aren't I! So hey, I kept diarys when I was a kid, it's a habbit!) hehe... Fantastic tune!---& production!
Love the mixture of electronic sounds and guitars. Very catchy. And sounds very well balanced and recorded.
Congrats on your lastest top scorer mate. As always, pro sound, very poppy in style, glad to hear you branch out further.
Sorry I'm late on this one (as I was on so many last week) for commenting, but congratulations on the number 1 slot there. Well deserved. I have listened to this a couple of times during the week, just had it on in the background... Just a little tiny critisism, the intro sounds a little looped, maybe? Sounds like I've got a scratched, jumpy CD on. Unless you wanted it to sound like that, or you disagree with me, ignore this, but I'd be tempted to put some kind of hi pitch filter sweep there, leading into the vocals, just to help it to flow a little better. Like I said, if you disagree, ignore m8. Nicely compressed drum work and good all round production too. Nicely done piece, with a good mixing in of both artists contributions. Catchy tune too, which helps it all flow good. Thumbs up all round.
Hi Red, Excellent work all the way around !!! Hats off to everyone involved !!! The Rascals come forward with an exceptionally written and preformed track !! They seem to have a universal feel...Vocs again are...extra exceptional as it gives focus and somethin to hold on to after listen... The intro is catchy and friendly !!! Went lookin for Frenchie's track as it blends so well...again, excellent !!!! The art and science of mixing/mastering is somethin I'm not good at...It's like throwin darts for me and I usually lose... But this track plays exceptionally well in my room...so , well done !!!! Excellence all the way around !!! With continued works at this level, I can see a professional future for you and those around you !!! Bob
not quite dark enough to be depeche mode for me anyway,(depeche are the kings of electronica)and not really my style but i have to say a really nice crafted piece of word red,(and the collab crew),i think it could be tightened up structuarly to make a nice pop radio mix, then it may well be worthy of a release.Nice one keep it up!
Back again.........never fails to amaze.
this might be my favorite track of yours... I like how uplifting it is and the production sounds nice and clean. I'd like to hear you take more risks with the percussion but it doesn't take away from the track... just a personal preference but it was very enjoyable.
Good Collab! All of you mesh together. Good sound. The breakdown is cold blooded!
I love this song. Taking nothing from the Rascals but, I really enjoyed the music. There are so many things I was thinking thoughout this song. I could hear it in about 5 different kinds of Movies....This was awsome.
Brilliant. Fresh, catchy. Where have I been. Wonderful collab. Top tune.
Seems strange i havent posted on this yet tbh Red - I think this is an excellent piece of work - I really do Got a great vibe about it - as ive said very Depeche Mode & very 80's Great work, really great
Man, I've been away from mp3u for a while to come back and find this... SWEET !!! I love this track. Dare I say that this is very unlike your other stuff Aaron, but it is a little jewel ! I love the vocals. The simple melodyline works wonders ! This wouldn't fall out of place in the dutch hit parades I'll tell ya ! Send this track to the right people... Respect.
This is kewl man. Another good collab. Love the mid section. Played this 3 times now. Rated!
You all "set the bar" - The Tartan Rascals trademark catchy vocals for sure! Ahhh, this is a great tune! Very upbeat and happy! Big like factor for me! And...this does have that Redshirt guys trademark of a great mix! Wonderful collab so hats off to all of you! If Saph shows up, let me know so I can take er' for another ride! Enjoyed! Rated and Nominater! :)
This is f*** awesome. Great piece of music.
Nominated this last night but didnt have time to comment. I just think this is incredible, it could easily be a commercial song. I don't have a lot to say about it cus I'm still amazed people can pull this kind of quality track off via collabs! haha! Vocals are great, very fitting, overall production is nice and polished. Puts me in the mind of some of the Manic Street Preachers latest album, Lifeblood (which i rly liked)! Sort of similar vocal style / production & guitar, but at the same time this is a nicely unique fusion of modern electronica / dance synths and beats & 'rock'
I especially like collabs like this - tracks that blend the different contributions seamlessly together. The mix is as clear as a bell, and the vocals and instrumentation are fantastic. A really enjoyable track, congratulations.
Not what I was expecting from you!! But have to say loving this collab and this style of music. Dance beats with Indie sounds...Nice combo - it works and really well . Great structure too and quality production as always...Well done Guys!! Peace x
I'm wi Dawn Sinclair on this - for me to listen & enjoy a dance track all the way thru is a miracle. I loved it and consider it rated.
Ah, nice idea, and how much more interesting having a mix of electronics and real instruments? , adds so much more soul to the music, and lifts the song to unexpected and pleasurable heights... I reckon it's excellent... good song, well constructed, vocals and everything else is just qulaity.... big fat rating and nom from me... well done all of you!!!!!!
Really digging the feel of this. Rascals sound great with this. Red, didn't know you had this type of sound in you. Very impressed (yet again). I could definitely listen to this in my personal collection. Awesome!
cracking track , loved it, listened again and again, got to download this! dave.
You know i love this one already Aaron!....great great track, really great melodies, and has a really good feel to it. Very 80's sound, but in a good way! Love the vocals too. Perfection has been achieved chaps! A BIG well done, rates and nom's. Mark
well I can honestly say this song was a pleasure to be part of as ive watched how its been constructed along its path and if more is added it can only make it better because its pure class. I played this at the weekend to a bunch of young teenage guys down the pub through the pubs cd player and they all asked me to get them a copy (for nothing right enough)..to which I will give out to make sure it gets some notice as these kids dont have money to buy cd,s anymore given the present state of employment in my village..hehehe yet they had money to drink ??? go figure...so this track will hopefully be on the launch of our album that aaron has kindly offered to produce for us and to which we have accepted as the man is a class producer in my eyes..rated for sure..the build really got to me as aaron instead of leaving it to three chorus repeats bumped it up which really took my breath away and had the hairs (which arnt much) on the back of my neck stand up..well done the redshirt theory once again you have excelled yourself in creating this monster.
This is good stuff! ,,,,,,,,,
This is pure class. Smooth song with slick production. Can't fault it -good luck with this!
okies first thing i notice, both this and lost in shadows and the shed remix all have the same intro, just different instruments. got to say the vocals are amazing, cant fault them one bit. some nice guitar work as well :) and a nice harp sound, beats wise very programmed and over compressed, infact the track as whole is very compressed. i know thats how you like it tho so i am getting used to it, i do feel tho you work from a template and very rare step outside your comfort zone . gr8 vocals tho wins it for me with the vocs
Awesome tune dude!!
The collab king! a great uplifting track, look foward to hearing the complete version, great quality, definately a top spotter,Nice.1 guys.
You just gotta say this ahs 'top spot' running right through it. What a crackin tune .. Gotta say this is the dog danglies.. Yeaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fabulous guys! Takes soemthing special for me to listen to a dance track from start to finish...this is it! Red, find me something to do sometime...I'd love to be a part of one of your collabs if you'll have me.
Walking down the street after a breakup and suddenly you hear this - all of a sudden there's lightness in your step and your heart feels stronger. YESSSS. rated & nom
Well you already know what I think of this track, I think it is awesome. I would love to be part of it, but if you can't fit me in I understand as there isn't much room, and I wouldn't want to spoil it. Anyway great stuff guys, rated and nominated!
Definitely a contender for no 1 next week, the mix is absolute quality, congratulations to all involved, great music and vocals with a hook to die for, rated and nominated
Aww red Quality! Some great guitars and liking the beats red! And the rascals vocals are tops as usual! Ok hit the break and have to say this track goes in a different direction that was unexpected but totally amazing!!! Oooh liking the strings well played there red! Think this si the second break im at now and liking the daft punk sound arp. some nice use of FX like the sweep up then down so nice programming there! Well liked the over all build back to the fukk swing of the track again! Rated and deffs a nom! Best of luck with it you all!! marty
D'oh! that should be famous. hehe
Top production Redshirt. I said this in another forum somewhere, but you'll be making us all famouse on here at the rate you are going. Loved it Rated it Nom it! Rogue
Hailing from the Southern California coast, Aaron Jones (Redshirt Theory) developed his innate musical sensibility from his father who played guitar in a local band. Over time Aaron was introduced to classic rock bands like The Beatles, The Who, and Queen; classical composers like Aaron Copeland and Carl Orff; and electronic bands like Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and Daft Punk. His inspiration to compose stemmed from the undulating beat mixes of bands like the Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers. Impressed by all genres, he quickly found a niche; creating his own style of infusing various instruments with complex beat patterns. This unique sound experiment soon landed him contracts with video game distributors and local Arts groups.
Since 2005, Aaron Jones has collaborated with the prestigious Arts organization, Quixotic Fusion in Kansas City, and has been featured in over twenty games for the Wii, Xbox360, and PS3 consoles. His collaborative mission keeps his style innovative, mixing electronica with instruments that are unconventional to the electronic scene. Recent collaborations include compositions with sitar, banjo, and Celtic flutes. These challenges distinguish his unparalleled approach and are quickly making Redshirt Theory internationally recognized. As an artist that doesn’t settle for conformist musical views, Redshirt Theory continues to explore electronic music’s vast avenues and push the limits for a redefined musical genre.

So here I am with another review. This week, I took on a different approach of choosing who the victim/lucky person would be. I'm not being egotistical by any means. I love writing reviews and giving people a perspective of their music not thought possible. Basically; a good experience. And not just for the artist but the readers themselves. This week... I decided whoever got #1 on the weekly char
I have to admit that upon the first listen, I found this track confusing in that I was slightly unsure as to where it was going. It has an exceptionally complex structure which takes a few listens to really get to grips with. This is not necessarily a bad thing, however, btu in general, I do feel that the track is much longer than it needs to be. The 1:15 long intro builds exceptionally well,
The first artist this month from MP3 Unsigned is an old mate, Redshirt Theory whose IDM stylee has captured my ears a time or two over the last year or so - and I don't particularly like dance that much. Mind you, I do like almost everything so long as its done well and has plenty to say and on that score it's not surprising that Redshirt Theory should be such a big deal on that site. Funnily enou
Your reviewer can’t help thinking that he’s on a hiding to nothing taking on a track that, at the time of writing, had received 52 comments, 37 ratings, been downloaded 31 times and hit the #1 spot here on MP3Unsigned. But hey, that’s the price you pay for inviting requests for reviews. Mind you, couple that with the fact that one half of this collaboration (Redshirt Theory) has had, at t
Well first of all I have to say I've been following the progress between The Tartan Rascals and Redshirt Theory over the last few months and they never fail to amaze me with their combined talents. Akkie's great guitar work, Redshirts kick ass beats and Stevie's vocals all make for a great fusion of sounds. (Don't forget to mail that cheque to me :-p) Right onto the track. I think the thing
"Come Home" is Redshirts second entry into the 'elements' competition after the stunning 'Infliction' track which I highly recommend you give a listen. Comparisons aside, "Come Home" is another successful collab with the Tartan Rascals and a fine entry into the competition, focusing as Reshirt describes on 'human emotions as they are important "elements" to our lives', which I thought was a pretty
could easily see myself going crazy to this version of the sheds original. keep up the good work. any chance you'll do a version where you drop the beat in the middle only to bring it stomping back with 'one from the quiver' ringing over and over in my blessed ears. BTW i always thought the lyrics were 'run from the river' but apparently its as stated .one from the quiver is a reference to how goo
Right first of all I would like to just quickly say that Redshirt Thoery aka. Aaron Jones, is one of the many artists on this site that I am in awe of. His talents coupled with his sheer determination never cease to amaze me. He has a great personality and his passion for music is clearly apparent in all that he does. Okay then so onto the track. First of all it starts off with a nice trippy
Ninety comments! It's hard to imagine I could add anything to what's already been said about this track, but I'm certainly going to give it a go. Senser. Prodigy. It's all that's basically going through my mind when I'm listening to this. I love those bands, and I'm automatically loving this. This track kicks some serious gluteus maximus. Massive beats hypnotise immediately, ensuring they're
Redshirt Theory's Blue Mind in a Red State takes the listener on quite a journey. As he describes it, ths song takes you from pain to letting loose brilliantly. Although the first half of the song went a little long, it does build up the "pain" quite nice to be released halfway through the song. Early on, the synthesized strings (I think) remind me of the
My review of the artist formally known as dj redshirt now the Redshirt Theory Track Blue mind in a red state First off a small but very informal discussion J Mr Redshirt and I are kinda in a love hate relasanship I hate him he loves me J That will do now for the review The into is really cool to this track, very trippy & haunting. reall
At least I think this is the track I am supposed to review but my copy says this is called Good Faith so I'm a bit confused. Situation normal then. I'm not confused about Redshirt Theory though because Aaron Jones (for it is he) has delivered some very neat music my way over the past few months. One of which, Its Been a Long Time (June 2006) got a Must Have rating from me a
This is my first ever review on this site and boy did I pick a 'biggy'! It has been sitting at the top of the charts for the past week and on hearing it, that is no surprise at all.It has been welcomed on the site as a whole as a great piece of work and at 9 minutes long, the listener clearly gets their monies worth. I have to add at this point that those of you who know my work, will realise, tha
Wow. This just grabbed me, straight from the start! The synth line is great, and to me it feels really big. Certain synth sounds that come into it during the first part sound immense, really adding to the overall feel of the piece. The drums are good and powerful, banging away like nobody's business! The vocals are excellently delivered, really complimenting the music, and Saphire really does
Awesome work bro! Way cool. The changes completely make this different. I could definitely hit the nightlife listening to this. Keep it up!
For those who don’t know me where have you been? Although I will give you the benefit of the doubt and introduce myself as the Singer-Songwriter from Serenity or the nutty bird known as RainyD here at Mp3unsigned.com. I would also like to point out I am no producer and usually team up with the incredibly talented Virus (just because he’s a G and better than me at production really).&nb;
As I've said before...this track is simply awesome. Marks' vocals are exquisite! Strong, dynamic, energetic...you engage the listener from the beginning to end. Production is top of the line, probably woulda had a little phatter bass line throughout but for the most part, this is an excellent collab. How does one follow up on this track? A remix perhaps? hmmm Definitely radio/club mater
Third time around for MP3 Unsigned's The Redshirt adn I must admit I was really curious to hear what they'd dished up this time. Warmed Up (February 2006) certainly piqued my curiousity even though - for my money - it wasn't the slam bang track it should have been. Its Been a Long Time (June 2006), however was everything that their first track had hinted at and then some. A solid
Redshirt - Moon Shine
I first came across this MP3 Unsigned artist when I reviewed his Warmed Up (February 2006) which I liked but thought that somehow it missed the mark. It SHOULD have been a killer track because it had everything going for it, but to my ears there was something essential missing. At the end of that review I wrote 'it's fairly obvious that if this is an example of what The Redshirt does,
Hello everyone! This is an honor to review the well-known, electronic artist DJ Redshirt, who happens to walk around here with no shirt on. Why is it an honor? Well, because he’s one of my favorite artists here on MP3Unsigned and I couldn’t wait to get to do this review! Now keep in mind that this is a remix (as it’s clearly labeled, “Embers (The Redshirt Remix)”), howe
Seen My Friends? This is a haunting piece of music. I feel a little like it is from a different level of existance---a sort of cloudy floating mist! Altogether an impressive piece of work. Thank You for sharing it.
I am listening to talent -- This is nothing short of genius! I appreciate good hard pounding dance music. It Is Right Here!
Can we say "Download"?? Good job!
OOPS I did not mean to push tis button,,, I am listening and my fingers were tapping and i accidentally hit it again I'm not sorry but it is embarrasing
I had trouble getting to listen to the music as my computer for some reason didnt engage the player here,, I downloaded it and I have to tell you that I am SO pleased that I DID. The song is fabulous. I love music but only music that is good, I have to download some more,, so I'll be back without a doubt.! ! !
I had already commented on this but thought i'd officially review... Now this is not really what i listen to on a daily basis, but that being said, I really dig this stuff!
I want to cry. This is an amazing song, another redshirt masterpeice anyone might think. however for once i have some things to pick at in this track, but again its not much. I'll as usual start with the negatives, the intro to my ears is to repetitive, could just be the mood im in but, really is to much for me, it also echos the same repitieve nature through the entire song, which im not to
Two words come to mind in this track, "Holy" and "Shi*t" this really is a cracking production, theres absolutoly nothing i can say wrong about this track, actually im lieing i can, one thing, and thats the vocals the get on my nervs a bit becuas they are few and far between, i would like to hear more of them, but when they do appear they fit in so well to this song. I'm litrelly blowen awa
Energy. I decided yesterday that I was going to write my first proper review on Mp3 unsigned and I spent most of the day listening to new tunes. To be honest I was a little deterred that the majority of the music on the boards was not my usual preferred genre/style(s). The majority of what I listened to was electronica, Hip-Hop trance and dance and given that my preferred/favourite
My Religion By The RedshirtOk, first I'm going to start off with a question...... What the hell is this tune doing on MP3 unsigned?Right now this tune should be sat in Records boxes across the globe pressed by some big European dance lable. Its that good! This is really hard for me because before I did any reviews (this is my second), I told myself I would never give a 10/10 to anything
Ok Here goes, no offence intended to the original but i like this much better, having listened to both i disliked the first it didn't keep me very interested through the song. the remix however is more up my street, redshirt as always has captured a great sound in this track, its a pleasure to review, purely because i listen to the tracks i review a hell of alot and usually loop them in the b
Well here goes this is my last review of this session, and im about to review what I assume is one of the heavy weights on mp3unsigned. I am basing this on the amount of QUALITY artists that leave comments on his page I also want to make this clear dj redshirt asked me to review this track, the way he reviews his. this is based on 7=10’s but I just don’t see the point, as the template us
The Redshirt (not to be confused with anything else of a bloody colour) is an MP3 Unsigned artist I have not had the pleasure to review as yet, but just reading some of the blurb on his page gave me much to chew over. A electronica artist from California The Redshirt claims he is ' is the start of a revolution back to the big beats of electronic music. We have slowly let our electronic
I’ll start by saying, I know nothing what so ever about Electronica, in fact I can honestly say I know less than that. And to be perfectly honest I picked this track because its description is Hard Dance, Guitar Rock Clash If I had to sum this track up quickly I’d say its ‘Edgy’ not in a bad way, in a fat way. It started off and right away you know this track shows a promise of things to
I cannot believe that not many more people jumped at the chance to review one of MP3Unsigned.com's most talented artists..I could'nt wait to sort this one out. The track is seriousley tough man, it has a built up aggression that is transposed through music perfect. I have always thought very highlt of The Redshirt..I remember when the dude first came onto the scene and his music
The Redshirt is a US Electronica producer. There are a ton of Electronica artists populating MP3Unsigned, and he is just one of them. I haven't heard The Redshirt's music until he asked me to review "Freedom". Took several listens and here is what I think.....
