Craig it's been awhile since I heard this, really great tune here.
Liked the concept from the start and the song delivered. Harmonies great, guitars gritty, solid drive from the rhythm section. Nice work!
Great voice! love the harmonys
Good stuff going on here
Liked this a lot...the guitars sound nice
Very good song, I like the combination of acoustic and electric guitars. Very well done, take a rate!
Great sound. Love it. Rated.
Good solid rock song hitting all the pleasure buttons love the harmony and the sentiment behind it is very pertinent.Rated
No wonder it's so high in the charts, this is a good piece of work. R&R;
Very JC Mellancamp. You have aknack for this genre & the vox too. Love the guit break. R8
You have Really Done it here, Been so long since I heard this you have one Great track here. Love everything about this one Vin
Great production - excellent song - can't really fault this. Rock isn't my favourite genre - but good music is good music!
Cool. A track of yours I missed. IT's always fun to find songs I haven't heard from my favorite artists. This is no exception....Rated. YTM
Nice Guitar work on this one man, very good work... Vocals are worked in nicely!! Top work here!! Crisp sounding, Drum pattern is neat. Overall timing is great on this one great work R8... Cheers for stopping by my Gun Angel: Vengeance track!! Darren
All the songs I've heard of yours have got a nice catchy melody, seems to be something you are good at! Guitars, vocals, percussion all work well together. Only 2 things I'd say, its just a bit too long, and the recording quality sounds a bit muddy to me, other than that top stuff from you again! :)
Really good track. Vocals sit very well in the mix. Nice to actually hear a bass drum in a track instead of a thump. Top notch, Squire.
very good opening, vocals sit tight in the mix sound good as well, guitar sounding good, liking the wee swish up and down, nice guitar solo:)in the middle, yeah good track
Came back for another listen, i really like this, as always the guitar work and vocals are spot on, will be humming this for a while :) x
Hi Craig, Sonya S. here. Subject of your song is strong, and the track is well produced. Vocals really suit, and love the distorted guitars. I'm intrigued and wonder what this track would be like in a pop version, only because more my genre, but style suits as you have it. This is good track. I feel there is a strong song waiting to get out yet!! even more so. R8 from me.
kool rock dude.. love that gutair riff and your vocals are real good. and the backing vox aint bad either.. nice writing to with them lyrics. defo getting my vote .rated!
Naturally I can relate to this track, I like the tambourine, gave a nice 60's essence to the track, rated.
Here's that nom I promised brother.
Great track Craig.Like Mark, like the rhythm and drive to this.Vocals are awsome.Like the structure, especially that stop just before ya sing "misery loves company".Wish I was better at rock.Really enjoyed this. Laurel
Hi, Catchy energetic track. Nice lyrics. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie
very very good track !
Hi Craig, well got here finally. I like the rythm, rolls along very nicely, good melody and the instrumentation etc all works very well. I do think that this is probably one of your best for me, because it has all the correct ingredients, the vocs are great, and the drums etc all sit nice in the mix, and the tambourne etc just do the right thing..push it along, many times especially on drums etc it can be overdone with to many fills etc, but this is perfect. Graet song and I enjoyed it very much.. well Done my friend!!!!
In this form it's quite european sounding......could just as easily be done in a more indie manner with some lyrical change to give it some attitude.....as it is it's a wicked track.....really catchy and well arranged.....ultra-hooky chorus.......sorry for getting here so late but it's clear you didn't need me lol! Kevin Mooney
Nice track Craig... i can relate to it as well :-) just all around liked this one and I need to get around to your page more... lots of good tracks here... leaving you a rate... enjoyed the listen!
Good pace and vocal style on this - it is a little Axel roseish, i think it's because of the vox line an octave above the main voice. It is like some of the softer G n R tracks, which is good as i like GnR! Enjoyed it and good premise for the lyrics. Rated
Im liking this, nice n upbeat and has and Santana type feel to it.Good vocals n beatz too, nicone
Very nice track here. I think this style of music is perfect for you vocal style. Great job! Love that solo.
Hey, this is a really pro sounding track, great guitars, vocal really works, top job all round! Mat
Wow Craig, this is one of your best to date IMO. Agree with all below. You better soak those fingers after that solo. All out of noms but I'll catch you next week. Rated for sure. Rock on Brother
Hey Craig, this tracks smacks of success from the opening bar. Your vocals have improved a lot over the past few months. Production is spot on, love the harmonised vocals. My only constructive criticism is for the tone on the lead break - it's a great solo but the tone was a bit too ear piercing IMO. I'm sure it could be buffed out with some EQ to thicken the tone (make it fatter and maybe run it through a tube plug-in to add some burn). Good job man, rated for sure!
very tasty track craig..! good structure, with a crackin chorus...really punches in. Godd prod too...everything is listenable just as it should be. neat gtr man. rated np
yip, it hares along at a good old pace, the vocals are very good, inluding the harmonies. Does remind me of mid 90s Bon Jovi, think mainly the vocalsguitar solo do that. Nice acoustic intro and the chord sequence drives the song along. My only gripe is some of the lyrics can across a tad cliched - but it's a minor point. I like the idea of the song and think it's a good title. Gets a rate for sure
Really good track Craig - sounds very professional - love the guitar lead, it cuts through really well in the mix.
Excellent "drive" to this Craig, that accompaniment has my fingers itching, to be sure. Lyrics infused with just the right amount of cliche, guaranteeing this melody will rattling around the skull the rest of the day, thank you very much! I've always enjoyed your vocal stylings and this tune's no exception. Snappy lead, interesting production and a pleasant listen overall. Well done and rated!
Congratulations Mr. Featured Artist of the Week! Well deserved Craig! Heard several of your tunes and think this is one of my favorites! Misery Loves Company... yes, it does! Great tune & top performance! Nominated because I can! lol..:)
Really quality guitar solo was the highlight for me. Good lyrics, and would it annoy you to say it reminds me a bit of Bon Jovi? Probably... ;-)The arrangement for me needs a little work, I also struggled with the balance of the hard-panned left and right on the acoustic and distorted guitars respectively; although others below seemed to like it, so what do I know? ;-) and I'd also bring the lead vox a bit more central, but its a really well written rock track, and my fave of yours so far. Keep 'em coming and congrats on FAOTW! Cheers, Jon.
Brilliantly executed. Some driving guitar work, goes well with the vocals. rated. Good job.
Gr8 choonage. Great to sing too and again what guitar work !! rate from me :)
Very good song. Lyrics are great and well executed. This a fast flowing song and some neat guitar work and solos :) Well produced - a good solid structure also :) Peace x
yeah this has a lift to it that is kinda infectious - drives along very nicely - deffo good vox performance - enjoyed:)
Blood excellent Craig. As Destri says the hooks (especially in the 'I'm trying, I'm trying' and the 'I'm lying, I'm lying'' bits) are excellent. Top guitar work as usual.
Always been a fan of your stuff long before we worked togther Craig and this is an example why..great hook to the vocal in both verse and chorus...I just know I'll be humming this the rest of the day, you really seemed to have nailed the drums on this too, nice solo on the geetar! good riffage as well, top tune mate :)
nice work craig...very tasty guitar...very nice solo...and you hit the right spot with the vocals on this...good all rounder dude thumbs up
hey nice opener right into the action on this one, voice comes in right after, i like how one acoustic guitar is in one ear and the leaded guitar is in the other, really like the second written melody really catchy and the vocal goes perfect with it. and i like the guitar solo well done indeed, luv those guitar solos, and your vocal kix back in and track is sweet dude, nice productions and nice emotion into it Rated! Matt
Oooh, good one. This one is my new favorite done by you. The vocal track sounded like it had better quality than some of the latest tracks. The sync was very well done. Great work.
Good track Craig!....well written song. I think personally itd sound better without the acoustic in this tho. As for me anyway, it kinda gives it too much of a 'Demo' sound. This does have alot of potential. Maybe if you cut the running time down a bit too, could be a REALLY good track! Good listen anyway:) Mark Great playing tho, and excellent solo!
Very strong song and powerful vocal performance, like the chorus harmonies which, for me, always give a extra dimesion - great song. It is so easy to bring others down with our own stuff.
Good song dude. Good work and a good structure. Good lyrical theme too. I like the mix and the chorus section is fab. Mebbi the vox is a little wide stereo-wise or maybe a little too left (nit picking). Take a rate dear boy
The chorus is definately the highlight of this song, but the bridge is also strong. Although the production is clean, I'm not keen on the acoustic/distorted L/R guitar split, and the heavy guitar sounds a bit raw and unpolished. However since you have done everything yourself, including singing very well on top of it all, I'd say this is quite an achievement. Well done indeed -Pete :)
Agree with others, one of your best tracks, sounds like you spent time on everything and worked up a very strong arrangement. Vocals are very strong, even the backing vocals are well placed and sound properly mixed and worked on. Guitars sounds brill, bass is good and loud, drums are excellent. Great lyrics. Good key for your voice. Even a cool solo. Probably your most complete sounding work, very impressed. Keep doing stuff like this mate :) Rated
had 1 nom left so you have it!!
Craig! This is wonderful.Lyrics are perfect and fit the song so well.I too agree this is one of your best tracks to date.Vocally the tone of your voice has the correct emotion and the chorus harmonies are good.I thoroughly enjoyed this my friend and wish you luck with it. Easily rated and I will just check to see if I have a nom left, if so next week defo.Oh, I hve stolen a download too...... tee tee thank you very much.. Take Care Andy :)
nice work, craig really like this one good guitar work really strong performance
Love this one Craig....fantastic lyric that I wish I'd written....pace is perfect, percussion spot on, guitar break great and your vox are clear and wonderful. For me, one of your best songs yet! Rated easily.
Nice Craig, I enjoyed this very much, Has a nice feel. Vin
Listened to this a couple of times to determine who it was this song reminded of! Some of the progressions and vocal play over top reminds me of Police meets Cheap Trick. Nicely structured break Craig but it really seems to be clipping through. Some of the harmonies...all minor details! Hear Mellencamp too! Great '80's feel off this! Another charter! R8!
Nice work mate, love the intro Guitar... Top work, everything flows together well... I'd have more synths,,, but this is a different genre to mine... Nice work, have a rate!! Darren.
(NO MORE) HAPPY ENDINGS. This is the second collab between Truj and myself, follow up to the MP3Unsigned Official Chart No1 'On The Road'. Once again Tommy wrote and performed all the music and I wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals. Tommy is also responsible for mixing and mastering. All comments and suggestions, good or bad, as always are greatly appreciated. Play this LOUD!!!
Please check out my latest track, Misery Loves Company. I'm really pleased with the way this one has turned out, definitely one of my best yet! Cheers Craig
Note: Same as always, going on the basis that a score of 10 is for a release level track with Bob Rock style production. First off, let me say that Craig is a damn fine guitarist - for a long time I only knew him as a song writer but the more of his stuff I've listened to the more I began to notice smatterings of really excellent guitar playing all over the place. I was excited to see tha
At this point in time, I have reviewed getting on for a dozen Pidgeman tracks and discovered that this rock based musician is generally worth listening to. Personally I still think he is capable of much, much more but his catalog of tracks on Mp3 Unsigned (and Soundclick) will show a very competent musician and songwriter, sometimes let down by the equipment he is working with. A
First track out of the MP3 Unsigned bag this month is the indefatigable (Ed: wooahh Gilmore!! Big words!) Pidgeman. Since I first met him while reviewing Misery Loves Company (September 2007 Pidgeman has been a regular visitor to my review schedule so at this stage of the game I probably have almost a dozen of his tracks reviewed. Although there is a fair smattering of Highly Recommend
Craig Matthews (aka Pidgeman) has been a regular on these pages for the last year or so and is actually quite a prodigious musician and out of the wodge of tracks I have reviewed has done well in terms of keeping my critical beast at bay. It helps considerably that most of the tracks this UK based musician writes are good, old fashioned rock tunes and I am amazingly biased that way. Th
Out of the seven or eight reviews I have done of Craig Matthews (aka Pidgeman) one thing becomes instantly clear, I like this musicians style even if I haven't found a track to rave about yet. That is obviously just a question of time of course, and the right combination of circumstances, but I feel fairly confident at this stage that this is an artist who definitely has a Must Have track lu
I was, am and always will be a big fan of rock music, from the Beatles and beyond rock has always been a constant in my own life. Which, as it happens, is pretty good news for artists like MP3 Unigned's Pidgeman considering that rock seems to be his meat and potatoes too. Consequently we haven't had a lot ofg trouble seeing musical eye to eye and some of his tracks have indeed been standout, par
Babylon is Doomed? Fucking A, as someone once said. Don't know about you mon, but whenever me hear dat Babylon t'ing I think of reggae. Not something I would automatically expect from Pidgeman, an alternative rock musician from MP3 Unsigned I have reviewed a half a dozen times, without too much upset. Fact is, I do like a good singer/songwriter, especially when their chosen
This is an incredibly well structured song. I enjoyed listening to this track a lot and I'm really looking forward to the remake that has been mentioned. First off, the production is as close to perfection as you can get in a home recording environment. The acoustic guitar sound is exceptional. Nice and crisp, clear as a bell but with enough low mid and bottom end to keep it warm soun
First track out of MP3 Unsigned this month is from yer old rock buddy Pidgeman. Regular readers will know the man and his works of course but if ya don't here's a thumbnail sketch. He's a home produced rock musician from Coventry here in the UK and considering that he is a home producer comes up with some very decent tracks indeed. Out of the last five tracks I reviewed, three go
Craig Matthews (aka Pidgeman) is an MP3 Unsigned artist you will be familiar with if you are a regular reader, and lets face it if you are not then I am talking to myself and that doesn't even bear thinking about. Having come from a lifetime of real world music, I have found I have developed a specific ear for what is right according to that world. It's why, I think, I am sometimes ove
MP3 Unsigned's Pidgeman had a bit of a rough time from me when I reviewed Wasting Time (March 2008) a track that I felt needed a lot of improvement - a fairly common thread of my reviews of this particular artist. Which is odd because Pidgeman plays rock of various tones, and he plays it well too. Where the wheels start falling off the wagon is when you add into it arrangement, pitch a
My final review for this batch goes to Pidgeman, who I've reviewed before when he collabed with electronica artist Destri! This track, however, is one he done all by himself! This starts off with a drumbeat first, then the rest of the instrumentation comes in! The sound is very 80's, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on where you stand on the matter! Personally, I like the so
Third time around for MP3 Unsigned's Pidgeman, a singer/songwriter from the UK. The first track I reviewed - Misery Loves Company (November 2007) - showed that Pidgeman knows what he's doing in terms of performance and songwriting style and Can't Stop Thinking About You (January 2008) only confirmed that impression. Where things fell down in both tracks was in the final presentation, a
Well coming up here is my 3rd review out of the people who first came into my offering post for a review. I have to say I’m very pleased with the results so far. We have Pidgman’s latest; Babylon Is Doomed?. So without further due to you all… Lets begin! The first thing that gets thrown out at me is the snare. Very powerful and full. I like it a lot. The kick has a nice pumpin
Next up we have a new track from Craig (Pigeman) called Babylon Is Doomed? which I am told he recorded from beginning to end in one evening, which only goes to show when the muse hits, go with the flow and good things can happen.
Craig Matthews aka Pidgeman is an MP3 Unsigned rock musician who I first encountered when I reviewed Misery Loves Company (November 2007). Nice track, as it happened, especially since I like the kind of rock Pidgeman specialises in. Like a great many of us, he has to deal with certain limitations about getting it all down digitally and - on both tracks I've heard - that home produced f
Next up is a track that has been doing very well on the site, 'Misery Loves Company' which Craig (Pidgeman) released a while ago. Commented on the track when it came out and stand by all my original views but will attempt a more in depth overview of the track. Track is very much in Craig's comfort zone, a guitar led power pop/rock track, a genre that has always been popular in the charts (espe
good song and good sound, yout voice is like the voice of rush.keep on rocking.
Pidgeman is a new name to me, this time from MP3 Unsigned and has the singular honour to finally rescue me from the almost constant electronica/trance diet I have had from that site since I started picking up reviews from there again. Moreover, Pidgeman promises to deliver some of my favourite; rock, and for that the man is like an oasis in the desert. Aaah burt, you sigh, rock can cov
Collabs... the MP3Unsigned speciality! There's lots of them about on MP3Unsigned, from one-offs to collab bands such as Stella Polaris Project and Hare Of The Dog! This collab involves Electronica producer Destri and Singer/Songwriter Pidgeman! I've heard the backing music by Destri before as an instrumental, and the combination of electro and hiphop sounds great to me! In this version, the middl
I really like this track by Craig, I remember commenting and rating it before, and rightly so. For a slow instrumental it has some serious emotive phrasings. Craig's understadgin of music and ear for melody shines through on this piece. An unforgettable hook is what makes this track different from most other instrumetnals out there. Craig weaves melody and structure around the central theme from s
Heavier than most of Pidgeman's other tracks this one caught my interest becuase of the distorted guitars and crip powerchords. Th eproduction throughout is very clear and the instruments sit nicely with good separation between rhythm guitar and bass. Drums sounded good to me despite some comments regarding cymbal levels. Last comment on the mix and the only part that needs minor ad
This evening I'll be reviewing a recent newcomer to mp3u, Pidgeman (Craig Matthews) welcome aboard. He describes his music as a cross between Rock and Pop. In my opinion, this track is all rock. He hails from Cheltenham in the U.K. and can rock with the best of them.
Good review to start off, a track I have already listened to and enjoyed a great deal, from an artist with a ever growing collection of very solid, well crafted proper songs. First thing I checked out when reviewing the song were the lyrics, they are a really quite strong for a song of this type, which at it's heart, is a song about despair. Rather than wallow in the misery though, the song offers
I really like this song so it's hard for me not to rate it on the high end.The lyrics are well done. It's important to me that they tell a story or make a point. There are two things I really like about this tune. one is the how it jumps into the third section after the second chorus and two, the key modulation at the end. In both cases the vocal is spot on. not an easy thing to do. it's hard to de
