Note: Same as always, going on the basis that a score of 10 is for a release level track with Bob Rock style production.
First off, let me say that Craig is a damn fine guitarist - for a long time I only knew him as a song writer but the more of his stuff I've listened to the more I began to notice smatterings of really excellent guitar playing all over the place. I was excited to see that he had posted a purely instrumental track as this is really my genre of choice. This track does not disappoint, in fact it's one of my favorites on his page.
Production is very nice, crisp clear tones and everything works nicely. Lovely warm sound, acoustic backing with acoustic melody/lead on top and a lovely distorted solo in the middle. To my ear there was a definite Spanish influence in there but the melody is quite emotive and full of soulful feeling. Nice simple beat keeps the focus on the guitar work. This isn't one of those guitar God tracks that is full of shred from start to finish but it still shows his mastery of the instrument. As a guitarist myself I can fully appreciate the playing style and little nuances that make this a great track. I loved the little guitar solo in the middle, very satisfying and it comes ant just the right point to lift things up to the next level.
Not an awful lot I can criticise here so I won't. I would recommend this track to anyone who likes relaxing music based on melody and a definite song structure. I commented on and rated this track before and so I can't do it again. Get's two digital thumbs up from me!
