Nice update Craig, thanks for the download
Sounding better everytime you do a re-take craig..now where's that acoustic version :)
Your music has been a recent discovery for me. I am gonna enjoy exploring it over the coming days or weeks! I like the way you occasionally alternate the styles and sometimes they come together. The pure Electronica section is fantastic - so rich - the transition from there sounded a bit akward - but the ear soon adjusts - and the tune is really good. Your voice has a vulnerability to it which I like and it suits this song. Just noticed Mark loved what I thought sounded awkward ! Critics hey??? Rated anyway.
just kinda hanging on your page picken up sum dl's I haven't heard or dl'ed. Thanks. Love it when people share their music...R
This is a great track!....Good vocal from you Craig, and Destri's music is always quality! Loved the break, and the way it got back into the verse was a nice touch. ENjoyed this alot anyway! Mark
Heyyyyy. Yeah, I heard this song from Destri a while back. I agree that a voice kind of lingered behind those instruments. Well attempt. My critical mind is being summoned, though... You do have a good voice there, Craig but... To me. I just don't see a good correlation. I don't want to make is sound like it's terrible by all means NO WAY is it like that. Just in some parts it seems too whiney. The lyrical timing and pattern of the vocals are genius. I don't know what's wrong with my criticism today but I'm just being honest. The acoustic portion is excellent. I love the synths and the glimmering sounds but the voice... I just don't know. It sounds off. (yeah yeah, yell at andy now, hahaha!) Maybe work on the vocal mixing a bit. Who knows. All in all. I did like the song and it's frickin' catchy. I already have it stuck in my head, lol. It's one of those songs that sticks with you when you try to fall asleep at night. Okay, my ramblings are over. I'll rate it just cuz it's a cool song. :D
good job you two, agree with all below (except fudgie) rated
Nice tune guys, chilled out pop vibes.Very creepy intro, and nice change ups into the mellow parts. Very different and original tune.
Very pleasant song - Pop is good ;-). Cool intro, very good vocs in the verse (hey, I hope you don't mind that I say that you sound a BIT like Phil Collings; it should be a compliment). The refrain is a bit overloaded with instruments though and confuses me a bit. Also the instrumental part from 2.06 is a bit too loud (or upfront or too much reverb in it?) compared with the refrain it's starting from. But as I said before: I do like your song and in my opinion it's a really fine collab!
creepy intro tbh don't think it fits the track but other than that when it gets started damn the melody on those keys is ever so catchy love that melody and the vocal is sweet sung with quite some passion, the pidgeman and distri created a kick ass track the chorus is really pro and nice... really pro track synths to die for, melodies to listen forever and a nice sounding vocal cheers, enjoy a rate! Matt
well made track guys , i liked the break , very destri - esque with that 80's retrospective synth . the vox came out really well ,very soulful. cool beans !
It's a really nice song, concept is really good, and the vocals complement the song, though I think you need to move the pad ?piano melody line to one side...it's clashing with the vox for the centre, making the vox sound off-pitch and losing clarity. The instrumental bridge/solo in the centre is really nice too, but the transition jars just a tiny bit perhaps....may be worthwhile experimenting with extended jazzy chord changes here and there, I mean it's potentially a GREAT song why just settle for good.
I could swear that I've commented on this before......I've definitely listened! I remember feeling the vocal was a bit harsh?? Anyway your vocal sits nice on this now and it's a retro feast :) Really good song guys! Like the heartbeat outro. Kevin Mooney
Ah i remember this backing track very well! I actually really like the addition of your vocals Craig! I dunno what it is with the vocals if its mic placement or just not the best of quality mic but it sounds kinda 'boxy', maybe it just might be an effect you put on them and i look like a d!ck now! lol Anyways boxy thing aside i have to say you really give it your all when singing and i really like your voice. Has a nice tone to it and you dont hold back! Liking the backing vocals you did for this too, they are very well mixed together and sitting very comfortably in the mix. Really like this track alot Craig, great vocals and great performance! Best of luck with it bud! Marty
Although the singing isn't exceptional, the effort put into the vocal peformance makes up for it. That and the fabulously catchy main theme. the chorus is also very catchy, but the harmonies need to be tighter to do it justice. The electronic work is all good...its a diamond in the rough!
Can't fathom why I missed this the first time around. Danmned glad I made it this time. Great catchy number.
Hi Craig, It, Sonya Stewart here, at last managed to listen to your tracks. 'Somewhere there's a place for us' is a nice pop track with nice melody - particularly enjoyed listening to, and like this one! Keep up the good work. All the best, Sonya.
Nice track, indead some 80's vibe in there, cool bells and bass work. In my opinion a bit faster would be nice but overall well produced track.
I'd like to hear a more sophisticated vocal on this, someone like Matt Black rather than the pencil thin out of tune squawking that I just listened to. Backing track is very 80's, DX bells ahoy! good fun but I don't see the song and the vocal making good partners. Just my opinion.
last time i commented on the first vox version of this and said then that it was catchy and it still is, i caught my girlfriend singing this last time round, it has a christmas vibe to it, vox sounding better, have you knocked it up a couple of bpms to it sounds faster? Either way love like
yep rember this one vocals sound a lot better now, good job lads,
Don't know how I missed this guys. But glad I got here in the end.Paul's imaginative instrumental taken higher with your contribution Craig.Love the bells Paul!Good work from you both. Take a rating. Andy :)
Great commercial tracks, new vocals are much better than before :)
Nice collab, sounds like something off Top of The Pops from the days of yore! I agree with the comments re the electric piano frequencies/voulme and the vocals - also the vocal harmonies, but that's just getting plain nit picky! Great job guys - good to see a quality collab with good song writing and production. Take a rate.
sounds a fair bit better for me...vocals are not @ screamy now...if you could get paul to pan the electric piano i think this mix would be perfect....the backing track is amazing... pauls trade mark qualitys...only crit is the e piano in the same spectrum as the vocals...no biggie but for perfection...thats what i would do...dont think i can rate again but here goes thumbs up
First listen dude and first thought is that in the verse you're vox is fighting against the lectric piano. The track also sounds dull (eq wise) in the verse. Chorus is fine m8 n take a rate.
night and day difference on the vocals. adds so much to it
So much better than the mix I did Craig, sounds great to me mate :)
Hmmm, theres something very Erasure(ish) about this. Excellent backing track, but Im thinking the harmonies need to be a little tighter. Other than that, its cool. Rated.
destri's 80's vibe has reshaped how i write melodies, the guy knows what he's doin. the chorus works well. Im on my second listen and i think there are 1 or 2 bum notes. Mix wise the shouting vocals should come down a bit. Overall i think the vocals add a good vibe to the song, one that should be addressed again as i still dont think it was "nailed". Some parts are magical, and thats the parts that get me excited about the piece. I think destri's vibe, with yours is a great match. i think you guys should work again.
Very catchy mate. Very emotional lyrics mate, very thought provoking also. Love the synth work. You and Destri share something in music styles. Gets a rate from me. Barry
Nice song. I enjoy how the clonging goes with the vocals. Very catchy. The instruments are well done. I can hear the emotion you were shooting for. It gives me a feeling that I need someone, man. Awesome. Put on a catchers mitt cuz I'm throwing a rating atcha.
sounds cool
Congratulations in the charts you two! :)
A strong song on both the vocal and music front here! I like the main melody a lot. I think, a slight pitch problem on 'you and me tonight' but still, it its a good track
I like the different sound of the recording. Nice feel that gives me lots of ideas to steal.:)
The backing music is quality, like normal from you Paul, production faultless. Like the idea of the vocals too, but don't think they fit as well as they could do, tho sure this can be resolved. Overall like this a lot, just sort those vocals and it'd be great.
I quitel like it although I prefer you more upbeat tracks craig - something different though and music and vox all sopt on :D - well done guys
good lyrics n well song but where the vocals are layered/effects its jus slightly too loud for me the frequency is slightly high. apart from that top track!!!!!
OOhhh this should be a good collab here! :) Ok liking the vox but they seem to have a little too much 'slap back' effect on it for my tastes but thats me personally! Still think the vocals are very well performed and i really like the lyrics and the whole tone of your voice but a more 'dryer' vocal would sound better. Ok now to Pauls backing track and i can hear immediatly the trademark 80s-esque sounds and playing. I love the 80s electro vibe and Paul you pull it off excellently, those little bells sounds that accompainy the vocals are one great example. Liking the groove of the shuffled drums and a very nice selection on the snare. Loving the part where it going 'dark' and 'evil' sounding with the extra atmospheres and the sequences, really tasty stuff from you 2! Well cant really fault this if im honest, the only thing i didnt really like was the effects on the vocals but im sure for everyone who dosent really like it theres at least 10 people who do! hahaha Anyways best of luck with it you 2! Marty
I'm liking that short intro, and those vocals a re good!! Spot on with this track. Percs are great. This is a top production, well done mate!! Rated also, Darren.
bottom end is funky as fook, slightly eighties which i like:),i dont know much about vocals in tracks but i think they need a wee bit of work, lyrics are sweet anyways, like the heart beat at the end clever addition:)its a good wee track enjoyed it,rated
Yeah I would probably agree with the comments on the initial vox, I do know what it's like as I always find myself re recording vox, especially in the early stages of a song, like anything it always gets better as we practice singing the song..anyway it's a minor point really, I have listened to this a few times over the last few days, co's I sometimes do that because songs sometimes need to grow on me, this being one of them, but on 3rd or 4th listen I like this, reminds me a little of Erasure, anyway, I think this has more potential, it's good now but could be a cracker I think. Nice one guys!!!
THere are a couple of bad spots in the vox....particularly in the first verse...I'd re-record that if I was you Craig...listen to the missed note on "tonight" for instance. It's down to a hesitancy or lack of confidence that gradually disappears after that verse. I think that the lyric (great by the way) and vox fit really neatly into the wonderfully rhythmic music...hip-hop meets pop just perfectly here. Love it!!!! Well done guys.
Craig has certainly done a great job putting the lyric and melody together for this one - it doesn't have the feeling of being "tagged on" later, but seems like a real natural progression. Not quite sure whether the vox needs "softening up" a bit for the smooth feel of the backing, but they are delivered with real passion. All the best with it, Jon.
Nice professional sound. Not my kind of music but it was easy to listen to, vocals fit in melody very well. I like how the bell sound follows the vocal melody, really subtle soothing effect. Only criticism I have is that the whole track seems a little flat as far as equalization goes, but everything else is cool.
Havn't listened to the original, but this is cool guys, realy catchy.
After the HELL of a day ive had, this track soothed all my troubles away :) easy on the ears yet with a nice subtle beat, Rated :) xx
smokin bro! i really dig your tunes!!
Representing your given "HookMiester" title very well Craig! ;) This is so very catchy! A brain sticker if you will! Paul's music is absolutely wonderful too! What a great song & collaboration - take my first nom of the week! :) Hope to hear more from you two! Now to get Paul singing also! hehe...
Great collab, really nice track, I love the lyrics and the vocals are top notch
pretty good track guys for the first time out. hats off to both for stepping outside of your norm
cool stuff fellas.... i heard this quite a few times wile you been working on it...i think you done well here...its pop music for sure...blame craig lol maybe the vocals could come down a little? other than that hits the spot just right thumbs up
yeah there is a vocal issue here, not sure if they really fit the track or not, might need a couple of listens. Chorus works but the verse vocals need more work i think.A little too poppy for me but for what it is its a good effort.
great song ppls :) i can hear the retro destri aspects flowing through and backed up by solid vocals. great performance there, good colab (vocs do sound a bit high in the mix to me tbh tho' but not a major.) r's from me, i reck there could be more to come eh. :D
Great track loved it :) Rated :)
cool stuff guys :) nice performance by both...musicaly has all of the qualitys paul puts in 100% on everything :) cant fault the backing track...i like how its gone from a chilled electronica track in to a pop song...its pure pop guys and i think you done a great job...strong performance craig you pop tart :P thumbs up guys
Initially what struck me is the eqing of the vox compared to the backing and you could easily put this right dude. There needs to be a bit more crispness on the vox to kinda match the crispness of the rhythm/hats stuff. Interesting track but not my cuppa tea - just commenting cos I think I can hear where improvements can be found. Hey I'm prob wrong so forgive me if i am dudes.
(NO MORE) HAPPY ENDINGS. This is the second collab between Truj and myself, follow up to the MP3Unsigned Official Chart No1 'On The Road'. Once again Tommy wrote and performed all the music and I wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals. Tommy is also responsible for mixing and mastering. All comments and suggestions, good or bad, as always are greatly appreciated. Play this LOUD!!!
Please check out my latest track, Misery Loves Company. I'm really pleased with the way this one has turned out, definitely one of my best yet! Cheers Craig
Note: Same as always, going on the basis that a score of 10 is for a release level track with Bob Rock style production. First off, let me say that Craig is a damn fine guitarist - for a long time I only knew him as a song writer but the more of his stuff I've listened to the more I began to notice smatterings of really excellent guitar playing all over the place. I was excited to see tha
At this point in time, I have reviewed getting on for a dozen Pidgeman tracks and discovered that this rock based musician is generally worth listening to. Personally I still think he is capable of much, much more but his catalog of tracks on Mp3 Unsigned (and Soundclick) will show a very competent musician and songwriter, sometimes let down by the equipment he is working with. A
First track out of the MP3 Unsigned bag this month is the indefatigable (Ed: wooahh Gilmore!! Big words!) Pidgeman. Since I first met him while reviewing Misery Loves Company (September 2007 Pidgeman has been a regular visitor to my review schedule so at this stage of the game I probably have almost a dozen of his tracks reviewed. Although there is a fair smattering of Highly Recommend
Craig Matthews (aka Pidgeman) has been a regular on these pages for the last year or so and is actually quite a prodigious musician and out of the wodge of tracks I have reviewed has done well in terms of keeping my critical beast at bay. It helps considerably that most of the tracks this UK based musician writes are good, old fashioned rock tunes and I am amazingly biased that way. Th
Out of the seven or eight reviews I have done of Craig Matthews (aka Pidgeman) one thing becomes instantly clear, I like this musicians style even if I haven't found a track to rave about yet. That is obviously just a question of time of course, and the right combination of circumstances, but I feel fairly confident at this stage that this is an artist who definitely has a Must Have track lu
I was, am and always will be a big fan of rock music, from the Beatles and beyond rock has always been a constant in my own life. Which, as it happens, is pretty good news for artists like MP3 Unigned's Pidgeman considering that rock seems to be his meat and potatoes too. Consequently we haven't had a lot ofg trouble seeing musical eye to eye and some of his tracks have indeed been standout, par
Babylon is Doomed? Fucking A, as someone once said. Don't know about you mon, but whenever me hear dat Babylon t'ing I think of reggae. Not something I would automatically expect from Pidgeman, an alternative rock musician from MP3 Unsigned I have reviewed a half a dozen times, without too much upset. Fact is, I do like a good singer/songwriter, especially when their chosen
This is an incredibly well structured song. I enjoyed listening to this track a lot and I'm really looking forward to the remake that has been mentioned. First off, the production is as close to perfection as you can get in a home recording environment. The acoustic guitar sound is exceptional. Nice and crisp, clear as a bell but with enough low mid and bottom end to keep it warm soun
First track out of MP3 Unsigned this month is from yer old rock buddy Pidgeman. Regular readers will know the man and his works of course but if ya don't here's a thumbnail sketch. He's a home produced rock musician from Coventry here in the UK and considering that he is a home producer comes up with some very decent tracks indeed. Out of the last five tracks I reviewed, three go
Craig Matthews (aka Pidgeman) is an MP3 Unsigned artist you will be familiar with if you are a regular reader, and lets face it if you are not then I am talking to myself and that doesn't even bear thinking about. Having come from a lifetime of real world music, I have found I have developed a specific ear for what is right according to that world. It's why, I think, I am sometimes ove
MP3 Unsigned's Pidgeman had a bit of a rough time from me when I reviewed Wasting Time (March 2008) a track that I felt needed a lot of improvement - a fairly common thread of my reviews of this particular artist. Which is odd because Pidgeman plays rock of various tones, and he plays it well too. Where the wheels start falling off the wagon is when you add into it arrangement, pitch a
My final review for this batch goes to Pidgeman, who I've reviewed before when he collabed with electronica artist Destri! This track, however, is one he done all by himself! This starts off with a drumbeat first, then the rest of the instrumentation comes in! The sound is very 80's, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on where you stand on the matter! Personally, I like the so
Third time around for MP3 Unsigned's Pidgeman, a singer/songwriter from the UK. The first track I reviewed - Misery Loves Company (November 2007) - showed that Pidgeman knows what he's doing in terms of performance and songwriting style and Can't Stop Thinking About You (January 2008) only confirmed that impression. Where things fell down in both tracks was in the final presentation, a
Well coming up here is my 3rd review out of the people who first came into my offering post for a review. I have to say I’m very pleased with the results so far. We have Pidgman’s latest; Babylon Is Doomed?. So without further due to you all… Lets begin! The first thing that gets thrown out at me is the snare. Very powerful and full. I like it a lot. The kick has a nice pumpin
Next up we have a new track from Craig (Pigeman) called Babylon Is Doomed? which I am told he recorded from beginning to end in one evening, which only goes to show when the muse hits, go with the flow and good things can happen.
Craig Matthews aka Pidgeman is an MP3 Unsigned rock musician who I first encountered when I reviewed Misery Loves Company (November 2007). Nice track, as it happened, especially since I like the kind of rock Pidgeman specialises in. Like a great many of us, he has to deal with certain limitations about getting it all down digitally and - on both tracks I've heard - that home produced f
Next up is a track that has been doing very well on the site, 'Misery Loves Company' which Craig (Pidgeman) released a while ago. Commented on the track when it came out and stand by all my original views but will attempt a more in depth overview of the track. Track is very much in Craig's comfort zone, a guitar led power pop/rock track, a genre that has always been popular in the charts (espe
good song and good sound, yout voice is like the voice of rush.keep on rocking.
Pidgeman is a new name to me, this time from MP3 Unsigned and has the singular honour to finally rescue me from the almost constant electronica/trance diet I have had from that site since I started picking up reviews from there again. Moreover, Pidgeman promises to deliver some of my favourite; rock, and for that the man is like an oasis in the desert. Aaah burt, you sigh, rock can cov
Collabs... the MP3Unsigned speciality! There's lots of them about on MP3Unsigned, from one-offs to collab bands such as Stella Polaris Project and Hare Of The Dog! This collab involves Electronica producer Destri and Singer/Songwriter Pidgeman! I've heard the backing music by Destri before as an instrumental, and the combination of electro and hiphop sounds great to me! In this version, the middl
I really like this track by Craig, I remember commenting and rating it before, and rightly so. For a slow instrumental it has some serious emotive phrasings. Craig's understadgin of music and ear for melody shines through on this piece. An unforgettable hook is what makes this track different from most other instrumetnals out there. Craig weaves melody and structure around the central theme from s
Heavier than most of Pidgeman's other tracks this one caught my interest becuase of the distorted guitars and crip powerchords. Th eproduction throughout is very clear and the instruments sit nicely with good separation between rhythm guitar and bass. Drums sounded good to me despite some comments regarding cymbal levels. Last comment on the mix and the only part that needs minor ad
This evening I'll be reviewing a recent newcomer to mp3u, Pidgeman (Craig Matthews) welcome aboard. He describes his music as a cross between Rock and Pop. In my opinion, this track is all rock. He hails from Cheltenham in the U.K. and can rock with the best of them.
Good review to start off, a track I have already listened to and enjoyed a great deal, from an artist with a ever growing collection of very solid, well crafted proper songs. First thing I checked out when reviewing the song were the lyrics, they are a really quite strong for a song of this type, which at it's heart, is a song about despair. Rather than wallow in the misery though, the song offers
I really like this song so it's hard for me not to rate it on the high end.The lyrics are well done. It's important to me that they tell a story or make a point. There are two things I really like about this tune. one is the how it jumps into the third section after the second chorus and two, the key modulation at the end. In both cases the vocal is spot on. not an easy thing to do. it's hard to de
