Can't Start Over
What a cool song to come across. Great singing and recording. Did I mention, EXCELLENT GUITARS??? Hope you didn't stop at 3 songs and you continued making music, because this is really good!
Nice song you have here. really like your voice and style. gonna check out your other songs now.
I think this is the most full of your songs, and really shows off your voice and the quality to it. Really really good track. :o) ONAGER
Hi Fellow Seattlite!! Lovely stuff. Like the easy breezy sound. This is a wonderful piece of work. Put your vocals up front more in the mix they blend with the backing a little too much. I sense a powerful instrument there dont be afraid to let it out of the cage a bit. This is good ol meat and potatoes rock and roll. No one complains if the steak is really thick!! Liked the lyrics. : ) Have a great day!
Beautifull song....and you have a lovely lovely voice which I feel really needs to come up more in the mix. I can hear a little bit of "Heart" in this song in the vocals....really excellent guitar as well. Rated.
Hi~ this is a bit diff from the norm of what i'm used to listening but i can assure u this is top work for its genre. Track has nice structure and excellent guitar, piano playing, and good lyrics with not bad voice.
Hi Chickie! Welcome to the site... I think the beginning sets the tone for the song and that works really well. the mix of piano and acoustic work well together, I think if the distorted guitar was further back in the mix and just a bit smoother fuzz it would be perfect. I like the subdued strings (violin) that comes in afte the lead, that is nice! The lead itself was nice too... vox could sit just a bit higher in the mix, just a little with a bit of verb maybe on them. I can see this going really well live and jammed out... kinda reminds me of early Heart... Nice job and earns a rate for sure!
Hello Chickie. Not much of a musical technical guru so I just plain like the song. I am very impressed. Really sweet song and performance...rate ez Dan
Agree with the comments regarding the way the rock guitar quarrels, rather than compliments the vox in the chorus - your production skills will improve with time I am sure. Your voice reminds me on occasions of Natalie Merchant - which is an excellent asset to have! The song has a lot of passion - like it a lot - It should end at around 4 minutes though - 5 max -
Second song...ever? Definitely does the trick for me. Excellent singing, guitar does the job, I liked the starting run particularly. Left Right arps are a nice touch. I also like the E-guitar solo. I'm not sure if you need the rather long reprise though. More of a thing to do live.
Agree with what others have said below regarding the slight faults with the mix. You have good voice though and this is a good, if slightly too long song. Rated. Craig
A nice listen, you certainly have a great voice, perfect for this style of music,or any other I should imagine. Nice guitar work, not that I know anything about guitar work;)but it sounds good to me.Enjoyed. R8ed
Hello Chickie! Welcome! :) Oh girl, you have a wonderful voice! For only playing guitar for such a short time (if I read that right?)... well, you are a natural! Really enjoyed listening to your song! Well done, sweetie! Reach for the stars! :) Kudos to you!
Hi..and welcome. My 1st listen to you, and youve got a great voice. I really like the song alot. Its well arranged, and has a very good contemporary/alt-rock vibe to it. I saw some others comment on the heavy guitar parts. I think the idea youre going for is really good. Just needs to be sitting a little better in the mix. And on listening i think your vocals can do with being a little more up front maybe. Love the piano stabs going on behind it tho. Once given a good mix over, this will sound FAB! NIce rockin' solo too. I agree with Steve too. The running time needs to come down a fair bit in my opinion. 6mins is extrmemely long for this kind of genre. All in all this has BIG potential. Just need some minor issues attended too. Very enjoyable tho:) Mark
Not my genre but I can tell there's thought and work put into this. Another mix with your vox brought to the fore a bit wouldn't go amiss but hey, says he. What I can say in honesty is that your voice has a great tone to it and in some ways reminds me of Carly Simon. :)
Let me say right away you have a very fine voice and song writing talent. You could lose the heavy rhythm guitar for me, or at least double it and pan it hard left and right and back it off somewhat, it's frequencies are the same as the voice and other instruments, so it's burying everything. Was it an after thought? Now listening to the very nice solo, but again it's hidden by that overloud guitar. Just that seperates this from being a GREAT track. btw, if you're new here, welcome aboard, we're not always this critical, but when we hear good songs and singing, we like to help you get them sounding as good as possible.
Can I first say I realy like your voice, and your writing as well. That being said, the track dose have a few flaws in my humble opinion. It is too long for the genre that you've chosen. I think its important if you want commercial success to remember that when arranging a song. The recording is good but seems to be inconsistant. The light parts are sublime, great balance. The heavy parts dont work as well for me. I dont like the scratchy distorted sound. I also believe that the heavy guitar comes in too early, take away the heavy guitar until the 'more than I can take' line comes in and you would have so much more impact. But now that I have given the constructive crit part, dont think my opinion is all bad, like i said you have a great voice and a great ear for good melody. You understand your voice and how to put it accross. All in all a good track with lots of potential for recognition in the real world. Most enjoyable. Steve
Love the dynamics in this piece which is well written and arranged. Maybe vox could come up a little. Nice one
Good song and realistic lyrics. Would like to see the words posted as vocal is a bit quiet in the chorus. Well constructed song and enjoyed listening. Rated.
Pack a Day Habit is a rock song that doesn't hang about. We're straight into it with a great guitar riff to hook the listener, raise the pulse and engage the ears! There's a 70's rock feel to this intro, with some extremely tight playing all round, especially the rhythm and bass. The verse continues along the same lines with Chickie's clear vocals closely shadowing the rhythm and melody of th
First off let me say this is way outside of my comfort zone so I was a little worried before I listened to the track about writing up a review. Anyway, about 5 seconds into the track I had developed an immediate respect for Chickie. There is more substance here than the usual 'chick with a guitar' (excuse the pun!) stuff this genre is often affilicted with.
