Shaun started playing music in 2000 when he joined the rock band , “Bleach” as electric guitarist. “Bleach” enjoyed much success over the coming months, with their debut EP being showcased on the then called Fanta World chart show on 5fm. Airplay followed with Barney Simon being a huge fan of the band. Bleach performed at numerous venues in and around Cape Town before the members decided to go their separate ways.
After getting back from Australia, Shaun decided to start his own band, “Brokenradio” with long time friend and drummer, Niel Walters. Brokenradio saw Shaun writing the music and lyrics for the band as well as playing guitar. It was also his first time as lead vocalist.
Brokenradio enjoyed mixed success, with one track off their first and only EP being used as a soundtrack to the BBC produced show, “Cooked”. They also shared the stage with bands such as“Taxi Violence” and “Spoon Feedas” and “Shy Guevaras” to name but a few.
Brokenradio performed many venues in and around Cape Town, satisfying crowds with their energetic yet melodic pop rock.
Brokenradio broke up 2 years later.
After a year of not doing much in terms of music, and trying to figure out his place in the music industry as a” non metal” musician Shaun started a new band, “The Sin”.
“The Sin’s” radio friendly pop rock sound, (in stark contrast with the band’s name…) ensured that the launch of their first single, “ Tough Machines” at the V and A Waterfront Amphitheatre was a huge success, with a packed house and all the cd’s being sold.
Last year Shaun released his first solo album, “Wintertalk” also to a packed house at the Sound Studio in Milnerton. A music video followed soon thereafter.
Shaun’s second album, “The lights go crazy”, was released in October 2010.
In the meantime, he will be playing around Cape Town, with a JHB promo tour also on the cards.
