Trying to find some time first and some inspiration second. I like to use older equipment alongside found sound sources to create something organic. I like the way natural things sound and I like the way they can be twisted beyond recognition for no good reason.
From a commenting point of view I don't have a CV but have been in several bands since 1980 then turned a hand to live music promotion in various London venues for several years. As an empty venue and red faces are pretty hard to swallow I got it right most of the time through trial and error, some things work some things don't, I comment not on musical ability or production values but a gut reaction to whether it works or not (for me and maybe a wider audience). Just another persons view.
Keen on Punk, Post-Punk, DIY, Reggae, Ragga, Dub, Acid, Rave, Jungle, Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Digital Hardcore, Happy Hardcore, Indie Pop, Ambient, Classical, Hand-Bell music. I could go on.
Not keen on Heavy metal, House, New Age, Country, Religious or comedy acts, things that I've heard too many times before.....
I am generally biased towards bands using conventional equipment and not that keen on coffee table dance music unless there is an edge to it. I like edges :)
Mainly influenced by the likes of Joy Division, Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle. DIY enthusiasm, lo-fi acrobatics. That sort of thing. And newer things too.
Disclaimer: I just write this stuff OK? When presented with artists who could be deemed 'controversial' or 'in poor taste' I have to go by one thing and one thing alone - the music. See when faced with something as flagrant as this artists name, as a reviewer you have two choices, either comment on it, or ignore it completely. Now you KNOW I - of all people - would be the one to comment on it,
