In My Shadow
I've never been into metal where the guys scream like little girls, but I luv this vocal. Huge wall of sound after that subdued intro. Big smile when it kicked off. Nice orchestrated breakdown. Still sounds fresh considering it's age. Have a well overdue thumbs from me :)
love the counterpoint and vocal melodies
from 2006, what a powerful and emotional piece. I guess that is the strength of metal...power!...Enjoyed the arrangement...the movement through minimal sections only to surge and confront yet again. You have the vocals, and all the parts for that matter, sitting clearly and discernibly...no easy feat...the opening hooked me... an orchestral pizz. opening sound. It was a history lesson to go back over the 114 comments and read names that were active years ago. The 2 minute section was ..well...sublime with the strings...Everything in here is so well done! :)
After several listens over the last week or so, this song is lodged permanently in my head. I've downloaded it and put it on my phone. You really have a great voice for metal. The production is really good too - a rarity in the independent music world. IMO - this is just as good if not better than popular alt metal. You have great talent so keep at it!
Yay for the way your guitar sounds. This is big and fuzzy. Great accompanying Lyrics. This song has big appeal to it. Drums right in the pocket nicely. Nice break at around 2 minutes, kinda went pink Floyd on me there. I like
Just commented after reading your interview and said that i couldn't recall any of your songs - I had no idea that this song was from you! After I downloaded this I placed it in iTunes and it was labeled some generic name. This song has popped up many times and I have enjoyed the hell out of it every time! Now I can label it properly! LMAO!! Very professional quality recording and performance. I was in my 4th month of doing music when I commented on this, so I was new here and it looks like I didn't vote for it, because I was able to vote right now, so sorry for the delay - I have been enjoying this download for two years already! Better late than never! Again, GREAT TUNE!
6 years since my last comment on this song (wow, it doesn't seem like long ago when I first heard this track) None-the-less, I enjoyed hearing this again- and again- and again! Excellence, without a doubt. =Bravo=
Oh yes... the ambient solemn, dark, rythmatic thing that is ditheramb. ;) what are you using for gear? Sounds like sampled drums.... or electronic? Possibly nice electronic kit? If so triggers sound nicely responsive.. vox are gooooood man! Ooohhh reverse close! Nice! :) great droning, emotional guitar nicely layered vox, convincing drums, very "commercially viable" track. Nice keys too! Some polysynth and stringy things?? ;) will rate and recommend!
Love how the guitar sounds! You on the radio yet or what??
great track, i love it
This is cool. Guitar tone is really nice. I dig it. Thumbs up. Wait for Stars
great vocals
i DIG this! AWESOME STUFF!
Great song. Good dynamics in the arrangement. This would sound great with proper studio mastering. Rated. Craig
great 90's vib from this too my ears. Love it man! Would have been cool to see the lyrics as i listened. But i love a deep dark song. Love the change up at the 2:00 mark. Great song great job'rate Eric
Hey, good tune. Made me want to sit back and think about stuff in my life. Lots of emotion here, man. I love it. The guitar and drums sound great with the vocals. Smooth voice, man. I'll give you a well deserved rate.
This is really good and I'm not saying that to be nice. This is good. Are you guys on radio/tv yet? If not, I can't. You have a fan here. I might be a soul singer but I have a large range of musical interests. I know it when I say, "You Fn good!"
A really great song. Those guitars at the beginnin remind me of Linkin Park, and the vocals are done really good. Guys, we want to give you our respect! Just keep on doin it this way!
intro and breakdown is sublime, love those harmonies of voice strings and guitars... the chorus has great potential too, very powerful and still emotive, but it think you could get a better sound out of it, imo seems a bit to reverby/distant sounding... bring it closer and you'll blow us away. ... you are talented you know ;-)
How huge is this track, I'll tell you, it's blooming enormous. It sounds like you hired Michael Kamen for a week (and I mean that in a positive sense) It's almost orchestral in structure. I hate you all lol you're so talented :)
dropped by for a listen. great to hear great music by great musicians!
Thanks for commenting! If you can check my page tomorrow, I think I may of improved the vocal quality. I was experimenting with a chorus effect before. I took it off, so it sounds clearer. Give me some feedback. Thanks! By the way, cool music! It's a different sound then the norm. I like it! BIG D
Heavy track, the break is superb, and adds to an already rockin track. Has tons of appeal, best of luck.
Really cool track with nice vocal harmonies. The synth chords are a nice touch. Cool ending too.
This is good guys, very tight and well produced, a lot of different influences in one song and nicely executed. the band is spot on, and vocals are very commercially appealing! Great work Dave
Love this one and the guitar intro is cool.Vocals spot on ( as usual).Production is first class.Thumbs up from me Steve... Andy :)
...thought i'd listen to somthing i wouldnt normally listen to...and i'm glad. Enjoyed listening to this...really like the drop-down guitar bit ;)
Awesome. Why arent we hearing this on the radio or tv or in a film?Rated for sure, Barry
Excellent track with clever and pleasantly surprising changes in the mood. Since I'm not so much into metal usually, I personally love the intro, the wonderful and fine part in the middle of the track and the quirky outro best. But I do recognize a high quality all through the track, the very good production in it and also the fab vocs. So thumbs up and respect!
i really like this it's got a really sweet professional edge to it an album i could pick up in the shop and be truely happy that i bought it!
Back again for another listen to some Ditheramb - helps a lot during these sleepless nights. Good stuff - more to come soon? J.
Hi, I like the strength of this from the start. Absolutely great vocals and guitar work! Clean sound. Fantastic song. I like the contrast between the strong beginning and ending and the gentle middle bit. Keep up the great, moving work. Rated. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie
Awesome, great vocals and arrangement
A lot of atmosphere in this song, i presume that you wanted to create a special mood in this tune. The chorus is quite easy to catch up on also.
The break is special........personally, I liked the gradual return to heavy after it......it's a pro track. Kevin Mooney.
man, what a great track. flipping good man. yes, 02:00 - i'm very glad to hear different levels of power on the track. truly a professional work. im impressed. 4:00 is also a really cool build up. love the ending. play it loud!
Well now this is special
Is this the final mix? Well It looks like It's all been said, but I'll put my 10 penneth worth in anyhoo He he! This is huge like the vocal arrangement particularly. Nice change of time signatures in the build up (I'm fond of that kind of thing) Stellar performance and production too I was a little dissapointed not to hear it kicking back in after the break with a massive guitar solo, Maybe your just being unpredictable But personally I think That would be the Icing on the cake for me and It's a big cake. Cheers dude!
Hi Steve, Picked this track of yours as a first try as it seemed popular. Blimey. Great sound, really nice construction - any chance of seeing the lyrics at some stage? I know some people hate comparisons, but I'm going to make one anyway :-) as the style reminded me of some of Staind's finest moments, but certainly with a unique twist. I'll be back for more!
Back again, and I'm going to recommend this song for this week's official charts!
Right first off this isn't my usual genre. However I did enjoy the listen and sounds very commercial, nice melody and great guitar. Voclas are good too and fit in nicely. I think maybe the vocals could be brought out just a tad, a bit more clearer. Other than that I think it is pretty flawless and can't find anything wrong with it. Rated!
don't know what to say except awsome track..would like to use some expletives but I'll restrain myself..really realy good..
Hey guys. Thought I'd return the compliment. An excellent track. Though not a huge fan of metal, this is top quality stuff. There's a lot of emotion here, especially at the end and is sung really effectively. Great guitar work and the band work really well as a unit here. Rated. Thanks fellas and good work.
RADICAL!!!
ah man I can't believe it took me this long to get here.. you guys rock! Awesome guitar riffs and that clean guitar interlude with the violining guitar is classy... wish i could hear more a louder more final mix with the rhythm guitar more beefed up. R n R. Cheers, Ace
Hi Steve! Good to hear from you! You "are" the master when it comes to metal music! Teach me-pretty please with sugar on top! ;) You are my #1 when it comes to this genre. Awesome!
Back again, following the Stew interview. This track is still so fabulous!
Everything on this track is great. The mix sounds like it should. The only thing I would say to improve on is the vocals. I know the singer can do better on some lines. When I look back on vocal tracks that Ive done from the past I always think "why didnt I do that line over again. Because once you settle, thats it. Every vocal track should be questioned because that is what will make or break you, and I feel that everything in this song is solid otherwise. Kirk of ENVE
Hi Steve, Just checking in to see if you had anything new up. Hope all is going well with you as I haven't seen you around for a while. Always enjoy your music! Do some more will you! :)
this is just great. hope you guys are still playing tofether
Great song guys! Wickedly thick guitar sounds...love that for sure. Just wondering about bringing the main vox up a bit more in the mix. My only qualm. Otherwise a great song! Great reverse effect too! r8d!
Revisiting because of your thread lol. For some reason, I like this more than I did when I reviewed it. I think it's just awesome! It's amazing man. I believe this is the first song I reviewed from you. I think it's because I'm getting more of an appreciation for music theory and everything. It's brilliant. You know what, I like the reversing vocals now lol. Before I didn't, but now I think it's clever. Sometimes I just argue with myself lol. Great job!!! Rated and nominated!
Wow - I sometimes think I should get back into a band again, then I change my mind, then I hear stuff like this and it makes me want to all over again. Now to the song. Beautiful, well constructed breaks combined with the crashing in of the unstoppable power makes this yet another classic tune from you guys - I've listened to most of your other tunes here and they all shine. I've always had a deep affinity with Metal and Rock in all it's many forms and I can really tell when something doesn't sit quite right. With you fellas it's for real and don't I know it. Lovely work, keep it up. In all, I'd give this tune a nine out of ten, with one point taken away for making me miss working with other people in a "real" situation of making music (see, I'm sat in a darkened corner now, crying). Thank you.
How did I never comment on this?? My apologies guys... this is epic!! I love it... the vocals are awesome and have a definite commercial appeal... love the change in the middle and then the return to the theme... freaking awesome... accept my rating!
Monster sounds !!! Nice changes ... It's like gettin with a wall of sound !!! It's hard to think in terms of changin up the vocals a bit.But thats what I would say. Strong vibe !!! Rated Bob Brannan
Finally able to listen better with new speakers and figured how to listen to this format rather than the regular player! You sounded great before but man...speakers sure help! You guys are the tops! Please accept my nomination and top rating! Bravo! Carol Sue :)
very nicely done, love the transitions, so mellow and deep yet so hard and heavy. The vocals are awesome, love the chorus. Proper tune!
Thanks for that Fatal(Destri) thats put a smile on my face. Tell then i said Hi.
Heard a few tracks from you guy's always very professional sounding, quality tracks, fast becoming a fav on here with a lot of people, somone I work with cames aross you when looking for my stuff, and mentioned you ny name... just thought I would tell ya that! rated, Regards: Fatal X 8 ~ Aka ~ Destri
wow, this is good music! nice lead, good production...wicked vox; most impressive; ratedx with comms! ck me out if u get a chance ok http://www.mp3unsigned.com/deShawn.ASP The Kid
OK forgive the arrogance that damn flash players settings are ....e they were set on low so no wonder the sound was off - my apologies guys !
imaginative intro belies the unsuspected throw down - vocals are hot on this one again - you need an engineer/producer on this - we may need to chat guys
I think this is my favourite track of your's, it has a great structure and melodies, and the chorus is superb!
just finished listening to "In My Shadow" and you guys are awesome !!, beautiful dark textures, very tasty indeed !!!!
Thank you for some comments, checking out your music right now. i like Visions of meaning - reminds a little of TOOL and then again not. VERY NICE riff - nice energy to. I´ll listen a little more. But again thanks :)
back for another listen to return the comment favor, and more importantly get my dose of ditheramb. one of those 51 downloads is me, and i put this track on quite a bit. and if you ever read through my comments i give people youd see this is a rare feet to achieve. im very stingy in that sense. but the production is so good. ive tried rating but it didnt take so that means ive rated already. when is dither going to drop a new tune?
Melodic and moody rock. I love the transitions and it's dreamy Dream Theater-esque groove. Keep it up!
PS, Mr. RainyD has just listened to this track and said "You are a damn sight better than Metalica and knock spots on Nickelback, Rock on babies!" (he's well into this genre btw). Take care, Rainy x
This screams Nickelback to me for some reason but it's good. I love the intro and the harmonics. Killer guitar too. You know I love your stuff anyway! Another cool one from you guys. Rainy xx
Damn, how did i ever miss this one?! This is awesome!....Beautiful intro, then it kicks in and just gets better! Love the vocals, reminds me a bit of eddie vedder. Excellent performance, guitars are just rocking! As are the drums and bass too. Very well written song indeed. Im very impressed. Exceelent work guys, and rated. Mark
i love this song , i like how the vocals overlap with you guys dueting its wicked. and i love that solo with no vocals, the only thing i would suggest is adding more reverb on those vocals , but like you said hopefully the final mix down will fix that right up, take care awesome song.
Although I make trance music, I listen to a lot of rock and indie too. Well, this sounds good to me! And when the guitars kick in they sound great. Structure wise seems a little long and drawn out to me. Have you thought about adding some keyboards too? Think that would sound good. Anyways, enjoyed listening to this!
Great song, love how hard the guitar comes in on the intro! Nice synths and contrasting sounds. Love the minor seconds in your harmonies. Very dark :)
hi guys ..only just discovered you cause you left a comment on my page...glad i have ..what a wicked track...why aren,t you famous ???....really impressed ..10/10 :o) Howsie
Hey Steve, good to connect again have you also got a page on myspace yet cause there are lots of fans there as well, have you found your direction yet, its hard isn't it to keep up the momentum, im having a quite time here in lismore for the winter but very happy with having done the album finally, thanks for the support, peace and plenty Virginia
Back for another listen! Great song!
Hey guys. Great guitar/synth work on this one. Excellent vocals as well, they really suit the song. Overall, you guys seem to be firing on all cylinders on this one. Well done.
.... me,it's 2:30am, and i just went on A rollercoaster ride. that took me by surprise. and i'm sober. you guys rock. In england,we would say that was the dog's ....'s,sweet man.
I got the same prob as Ricky .. My brain must have left the building or something when this one happened .. Theres a touch of the Vedder/Weiland in the vox .. Uber powerful !!! This really is one fine piece of music .. It's got the lot in terms of timbre, dynamics, flow etc. A defo D/L for me .. and all of the other buttons .. Fekkiin Awesome !!!! PS I'm awake now ;)
why aint i commented on this yet? slacking ricky boy. i deffo got it on d/l dont make sense? i love this track one of my favs.i hear creed as well and other bands a monster of a track deffo gets my rate \m/ \m/
You know when I was a younger man, nothing mattered more to me than Black Sabbath, Deep Purple etc etc (showing my age here) As I got older my tastes mellowed and widened, and I stopped listening to a lot of that sort of stuff, now It's refreshing to get back to that sort of music occasionally, and It's good to hear you guys doing it I think well. So I like this... well done!!
oooh really cool. LOVE it. Emotive metal :) and I know I have said this before (I sure I have) - you sound like Creed (one of my favorites) :)
Hi Steve! Your music makes me want to get out my electric guitar and write! :-) A genre I would love to learn more about! Makes me want to party! I also thank you for your comment. Best wishes to you! Carol Sue
I'm glad you agree with yourself Rogue, I would hate to see you falling out with yourself over one of our tracks;) Thanks for all the comments people, realy do appreciate them all. Steve
I agree with myself on this one. Cheers Rogue Back for another listen!:)
i always enjoy shuffles although i don't like writing shuffles myself. sometimes the lyrics are difficult too understand because the guitars overshadow the vocals in some places. interesting structure, like one of the more epic songs of metallica. tbh i am not so keen on the bass drum pattern. all in all a great composition.
Love that intro and the chord progression. Like that double voice! The bridge is quite epic. Wicked addition. Rocking.
Sorry I have taken a while before I commented on your stuff, I've had so many requests. This is a great song, I love the chorus. The synth backing track is a neat touch.
ignore my previous comment,i had 2 tacks playing at once!!so,i thought it best if i re comment.your singer has an awesome voice.well mixed track too.def no sign of sampled metronomes here!just awesome songs.well done
the dudes voice is really awesome.i reckon bringing that forward a bit in the mix would be cool.is that a sampled metronome at 3:22???if so that rocks!billiant guitar sound too guys.
Elements of all the bands listed here (except maybe Nickelcrap) but it's you guys. The midpace groove is quite grungy but I hear the more metal aspect over that. Check my other band Gods Twin as we seem to be mining similar veins! Good work lads!
I used to listen to metal a few years ago, still listen to the odd bit now and then so i can appreciate what you have done here with this track. I like the silence gap after the intro, makes the louder part appear even more powerfull. Very well put together track. Quality Voice.
Great, guys, really. You've just got one more fan!!! The vocals are great, specialy these duble parts!!! And the best one I've ever heard!!!
great track !!!powerful but then with an amazing easy instrumental part wich really suited the song great work done.thumbs up!!!!
And you do the chilled start so well! Would love to hear more like this from you guys. Got a Nickleback vibe from this track so its all good! Love the chilled factor, really adds a lot to the track for me. Vocals are great too, instrumentation very cool. Love the break down, awesome track mate! Rainy x
Love that intro! Very powerful vocals, I especially like them because they're not forced like lesser talented singers try to do in this genre. There's definitely a bit of Eddie Vedder there. You are all obviously very talented musicians, the breaks/chorus/layers are highly indicative of a strong creative balance with each other. It also points to a band who will attempt to not pidgeonhole themselves in the future which I find refreshing, best wishes from The Shed lads!
Very good middle section really like - keep it up lads keep the faith and keep rocking, i will be!
I've been reading Steve's posts on the forums and this is the first time I've followed the link through to your music. What a brilliant racket! What a gentle interlude, you guys really know your stuff!
Great production. Pink Floyd meets Soundgarden..? rated Dave
Wild man!Started out mellow, and then,BANG,scared the crap out of me.LOL.Sounds great.Nice guitars and vocals.Production is right up there ,too.
I like this one, reminds me of Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden. Can't be bad!! My fave of yours up to now.
I like this. Lovely Guitaring, backed up by some nice synth work. You have good vocals.
This is awesome. I like the chords, as well as the two vocal parts sounding against each other. The ending is very creative. Great.
this is a killer guitar hit in the beggining. And the vocals are exactly the style that can and should get you signed.
Nice work guys,...I've emailed you in response to my review....Thanks for takin the time.......
Definitely some reverb needed to sweeten the vocals, and the background vocals could perhaps do with less low and a touch more mid. Good track, though.
I love this track, and it strikes me as a very well-written song. If I was to say anything, I would possibly ad a little reverb to the vocal...Great Stuff!!! Dave CARMONA www.carmonarocks.com
A very cool - smooth intro. Very strong sound. Very powerful. This is wonderful - reminds me of 'Creed' - very very nice!
Guitar/drums/bass sound huge, I love the melodic power of this one. The vocals sound a bit dry to me; and of all the elements need the most production attention. You have alot of talent here, best of luck!
hey Steve, came over for a listen, not the usual listen for me, but I can hear the passion and effort you've all put into this song, liked the ending cheers Virginia
great music, gave it a 10. Only thing i missed was a kickass solo somewhere in the song, was waiting for it but it never came. Otherwise good pro sounding song
very cool intro....killer listen.
really good sound. Like the vocals and harmonies
OK, I admit it ... I do find the word Metal a bit scary :-) But I really liked the power in this track, the layers of vocals, the quiet melodic section in the middle was gorgeous. In terms of final mastering, I can't think of anything, it all sounds good to me. Do you have any lyrics you can put up, please ?
oh.. wicked outro.
totally agree w/virus on the intro/silence - excellent ! I'm keen on the drum subtleties.. esp. the cymbal effect A little too high pitched vocals for me mid-song, but that's easy to correct ! I like how you're not just METAL !.... like old voivod or something.. (Although Entombed's Wolverine Blues is great) (once again) peace, Fear Of Light
I like the way this song goes from quiet to loud, back to quiet, back to loud etc. The gap of silence at the start after the intro and before it kicks in is a nice touch and the acoustic sections are lovely. As a song, its well performed and recorded, it has good structure and power in the all the right places.
More to Come...
Darkest Hour is a bizarrely structured song. I found it difficult to distinguish between verse, chorus, middle eight, bridge, intermissions and such like. However, the changes in timing, feel and dynamic did keep the track very interesting although at times they do sound a bit disjointed. The fact that there was not an openly recognisable chorus detracted slightly from my enjoyment of the pi
The title of this track (3 away) reminds me (and not many people will know this) that our word “trivia” originates from the Latin meaning the meeting of three ways (tri via) or crossroads, which was, supposedly a place where people gathered to chat about nothing in particular. Having said that, the song in question is about a subject that is anything but trivial although doubtless those a
Well now, this just makes me wanna be in a band again! I used to listen to a lot of metal so I feel I'm qualified enough to say just how great this is. To me, this track takes the best parts of metal (high energy performances, hard-hitting riffs) and mixes it with melodic beauty in both the vocal and guitar performances and even the roughness of grunge. Quite a lethal mixture! For me, something st
Since I came across this Australian band when I reviewed In My Shadow (October 2005), they have seldom been off my radar. Part of that allure has to be down to my own liking for the band's rock credentials and their particular slant on what the term 'metal' should mean. Part of that is down to a personal friendship with Steve Kinghorn (the most visible member of the band). The ot
Steve from Ditheramb seems to be the chief cook and bottlewasher of this group of talent and it is him that I have got to know as a musician of some quality. We first crossed swords when he asked me to put their track Darkest Hour to Classical music. I have to say at this point I am not a lover of most heavy metal but there are exceptions and what I have heard from this lot certainly changes my min
Ditheramb - Euphoria Moody metal is what we're dealing with here and it's obvious from the start that these guys know their stuff. Not only that, they're melodically commercial enough to stand a real chance on actually making it into the larger arena. If I can get a gripe out of the way before I carry on, though, the vocals are generally way too quiet to suit such a powerfully played song, eve
Okey dokey, lets get started..... My first admission is that I know about as much about metal as I do about 3rd Century Mongolia.......in other words, not alot! So when Steve from Ditheramb replied to my offer of a review I was, well, wary..... but this is a really class track. Track Structure (9/10) I'm the first to admit I dont know what the perfect Metal 'Track Stru
Hello everyone again!! This is my third time reviewing the 4 man band, Ditheramb (which to me gives the sound of a REAL bad lisp of saying, “Dice a lamb”). If you haven’t heard of this amazing epic rock band you should be aware that they consist of the following: Jack Greenhill, playing the bass guitar, Glenn Townsend, hitting the drums, Steve Kinghorn, as the lead sing
This song is an epic metal song that has different personalities. I hear a mellow hint of Pink Floyd and a mixture of Sabbath, Priest... This all blends into a metal song that speaks of letting go, death, in my analysis. The song structure is smooth to frantic and back again and on to the climax. This schizophrenic mixture seems to work and I liked the structure. This song
The Kinghorn brothers (Steve and Scott), Jack Greenhill and Glenn Townsend collectively known as Ditheramb have - in the space of a year - carved themselves out quite a reputation for fiery, rock based tracks and have a lot of credibility from this reviewer. I got some cute metal ears after having spent many years getting blown from wall to wall by this heavy metal band or that one.&nb;
Hey again to everybody. This time around I’m going to be delving into some metal.
The name of the group is Ditheramb, and I’m going to cover a tune titled “In My Shadow”.
Ditheramb - Crushed to Dust
Hello once again everybody! Ah, what do we have here today? Oh sweet, it’s Ditheramb once again! This is my third time reviewing the 4-man rock band. For those first hearing of Ditheramb, the members consist of: Jack Greenhill, playing the bass guitar, Glenn Townsend, hitting the drums, Steve Kinghorn, as the lead singer who plays the guitar, and last but no
MP3 Unsigned is a site that hosts many fine artists, covering just about every genre known to man. I have spent almost two years reviewing those artists by now and I think I have a pretty good grip on who does what. Out of all those musicians though, there aren't that many that make music that is - in any meaningful way - different. Sure the site has it's share of musical oddball
Wow I feel like I’ve been generous with ratings so far, but I guess the songs I’ve listened for reviewing just caught my attention real quick and made me real happy with the result. Anyways, this is the second time I’ve reviewed the 4-man band, Ditheramb, who I can introduce to you: Jack Greenhill, playing the bass guitar, Glenn Townsend, hitting the drums, Steve Ki
Brisbane, Australia's Ditheramb (consisting of Steve and Scott Kinghorn,Jack Greenhill and Glenn Townsend btw) impressed me enormously from the first track I reviewed, In My Shadow (October 2005). Their blend of styles and arranging skills helped because I haven't been known to be into metal since I got rid of me acne by chopping off my head. No, wait a minute. That can't be righ
Stained with power and performance. I’m back. This is my second review on here and this is a far more familiar sound and ground for me. I’ve loved rock music since 1994, I was 12, and I’ve continued a massive interest ever since! I’ve never been very unconventional in my tastes, my favourite band was always Metallica as well as loving korn, slipknot, roses and a bit of biscui
Now Ditheramb hail from Austalia which is good as two of my favourite artists of all time are from there, Midnight Oil, and INXS. So thats a good start :o) For a metal track this starts quietly with some nice guitar leading into Steves' excellent vocals, which are joined by the drums, and then lead onto a crescendo of the group kicking in. This gives way again to the more subtle music
This is quite a cool song, but as an objective listener, I become and objective reviewer, but don't get worried...lol first off, the recording needs some help, leaves a little to be desired, I can't really hear what the guitar is doing until it get's a little more excitable, but overall, it clips in spots, and is a bit muddy, but I'll get off my engineers stool and get to the song itself.
Well this is the 3rd review I have done for ditheramb, I was a fan after doing the first review and after the 2nd I was man why aint this band in my cd collection. Now we are on the 3rd review, and does my opinion change? The answer is nope. Main reason, Steve has just uploaded another bunch of quality tracks. So guess who, has a mini ditheramb album? Yup that wasn’t hard me of course. It’s not
Alright guys! See? I told you I was going to do more reviews, not that you were doubting me or anything, lol. Anyways, back on task!
This is gonna be a straight forwards review no silliness honest J From the start to the end all 30 or 40 seconds ;) only joking. of this track screams western, Pistols @ dawn and all that, I reviewed this band on my last set of reviews And pretty much thought yup these guys are going places, and I am still standing by this. Again I can hear influences but im not gonna harp on about that. its pla
So we are back on course, or are we?……..this reviewing game is a piece of cake ;) It is now anyway, and im about to have a massive slice of this cake. Here goes this is going to be fun As soon as this bad boy fires up, it’s back to my roots, roots been my music preferences. The question here is, which musical influences, smack my head around the most, with this monster of a track?
The major problem with reviewing so many tracks a month is that you quickly forget just why you gushed buckets over this track but not over that one... Take Ditheramb for example. This Brisbane, Australian four peice heavy rock band got inundated with praise when I reviewed In My Shadow (October 2005) and for the life of me I couldn't remember the track at all when I came to write this
Allow me to make myself extremly clear. A rating above a 7 means i think it is ready for radio. i see a 7 as an average professional track by a professional artist. While its hot on my mind, there is a breakdown where an almost magical guitar sound comes in before a huge hit and the music verse comes back in. Make sure you peeps reading this check out this magic riff, i shall re
I could have sworn I had reviewed this metal outfit from Brisbane (from the land Down Under) but having exhausted all my search facilities I've come up a complete blank. I have a suspicion it disappeared into a black hole after my last computer crash. And they said it would make life easier, eh? Yeaaahhh, right. Hear that whooshing sound?, that's the wind flapping in the pi
In My Shadow by Ditheramb Hello! Tedd-Z again! Aaah... good old rock! Haven't reviewed rock in a long time, so I had to adjust a little! Makes a nice change from electronic music, tho! First impressions... it sounds good! Everything's clear, claritable and has its own space, so the production work is very good! Arrangement is fine aswell! Not too stop-start, not dragged too much! Performance is
Wow, you said outside my genre, and you were right. But i am a music lover 1st and foremost. and my 1st impression is wow. This is a great track, but first things first, the instrumental. Melodic metal is the correct phrase to describe this!! Excellent changes of pace in places and i have to say i really enjoyed the way you swapped from quiet, haunting melodies to heavy, distorted leads. The intro
I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the Metal genre, since it was the music I grew up on as a kid. Ditheramb is a melodic metal band from Australia, and they have asked for a review on the tune “ Crushed to Dust”.
Ditheramb For those who don't know I am an avid listener of new music and half of the duo Serenity here at mp3unsigned.com. As many of you know I'm not a great rock/metal fan preferring chill out and more commercial rnb/dance/pop tunes. So it takes a pretty decent track for me to think otherwise. I have my favourites that constantly surprise me, however
AN MP3 Unsigned artist I hadn't heard anything about until I picked up on a forum conversation, Ditheramb is a 4 piece outfit from Brisbane in Australia - and we'd better not hold that against them eh? The band consists of brothers (?) Steve Kinghorn (gtr/vocals) and Scott Kinghorn (gtr/backing vocals), Glenn Townsend (drums) and Jack Greenhill (bass). Formed in 2003, it appears they s
‘Crushed To Dust’ – a few wordies from Spyda I was asked to add ‘Crushed To Dust’ to my Feb 5 review thread on behalf of Ditheramb, because being based in Australia & due to the difference in time zones they miss out on review threads here on MP3Unsigned. So here goes. Before I joined MP3Unsigned in April 2004 I would never ever have given the rock & metal genres a
I listened to this a while back a couple of times then left it alone to have a think about it. A few more listens. Ok what passed my hallowed aural portals? I like this composition. The dynamics of the song are very well worked out and really give the song a great listening edge. From the vocal to the instrumentation it's as tight as a badgers ass.
Slow start but gradually built into a superb deep guitar bliss of madness and lost soulfull voice tones, this band from Brisbane Australia shows a lot of great quality for the metal/heavy rock community. The bridge work is great in this, with a moderate break halfway through the song, it didn't drown out the purpose of the song, to take you on a heavy adventure into the unknown.
