Wow I feel like I’ve been generous with ratings so far, but I guess the songs I’ve listened for reviewing just caught my attention real quick and made me real happy with the result.
Anyways, this is the second time I’ve reviewed the 4-man
band, Ditheramb, who I can introduce to you:
Jack Greenhill, playing the
bass guitar, Glenn Townsend, hitting the drums, Steve Kinghorn, as the lead singer
who plays the guitar, and last but not least, Scott Kinghorn who is also
playing the guitar as well. Now, it’s
review time!
Listening to “Crushed to Dust” as I write this, I can’t help but feel that it’s a great work of art. The start of this song is a real nice, subtle melody with a rainstorm in the background which makes suspenseful beginning for a dramatic song (made me want to listen further expecting something big to happen, which did). It shortly picks up with the vocals/drums/bass and enters this genre with the phrase, “Do you hear the children cry?” which brings me to my next point, the lyrics. This song has a powerful message as what Steve described and happens to be one of his favorite songs. I couldn’t be happy to agree more! This song combines a Metallica-esque style with the band’s style as well, which also makes it, a very commercial song.
This song is real hard to fault. The only part probably where I don’t like it the most is when Steve sings “If you say, there’s nothing that I care about.” I guess I don’t like the pitch for “say”. It sounds slurry/sloppy to me. However, other than that little place, I can’t fault it anywhere else. I whole-heartedly love the dramatic feel of this track as I can’t say enough and this is just awesome!
Based on “In My Shadow” and this song, I can’t agree to more to my last review of Ditheramb: They are REALLY going places...big places!
Highly Recommended!!!!
