Stained with power and performance.

I’m back. This is my second review on here and this is a far more familiar sound and ground for me.  I’ve loved rock music since 1994, I was 12, and I’ve continued a massive interest ever since!  I’ve never been very unconventional in my tastes, my favourite band was always Metallica as well as loving korn, slipknot, roses and a bit of biscuit back in the day.  The last few years ive been more in to rock or classic rock, the stones, floyd, zeppelin, peppers, aerosmith.

This track I must say takes me back six years to stain’d!  I listened to this band constantly during 2000 and 2001 and a lot of their songs are quite nostalgic for me as I was seeing the best of my ex’s during them years.   I hope you don’t mind the reference but after the opening sequence, the first verse and bridge totally took me back to them and I’m now trying to root out ‘outside’.  However you soon get to the melodic guitar section in the middle and realise that this track has a got a little more and digs deeper then what would perhaps be the norm for this genre.  Which I would class as melodic rock, with a punch of metal for good measure but not for dominance,

musical/track structure

The track starts with quite a soothing melodic almost ambient techno play before a pause with great effect.  As stated above the verse and first bridge invoke memories of staind a dam good rock band. The different sections are distinct and the melodic acoustic like section adds depth to the track and structure which make the song stand out from the others. My only concern was the length and I don’t know how I have the gall to say it as all my songs are all well over 5 minutes.  I just thought that after the acoustic break that one more proper rocked out chorus might have done the trick.  Certainly commercially anyway.

All in all a very well structured track with great into’s, outro’s effective verse, chorus and an effective interesting middle section.

Musical interest.

I knew what was going on here, which was nice! As stated above the difference and variety of the parts and sections give this track a lot of interest.  As for the average joe on the street his interest may wane a little towards the end but hey that the pop shitty world we live in now.

Melody

Many good strong melodies in this track, the opening is quite melodic, love it, it’s like the calm before the storm! The melodies in the verse and the chorus are again good but lack that extra something, extra bit of emotional stretching that could make it a 9 or 10.

Musical performance and recording quality

Just quality, not much mastering needed here.

I like the vocal performance very much largely very professional and basically done, and ready for release.  If you were a perfectionist then the vocal in some tiny spots need brushing up and optimizing and I found it hard to make out the lyrics early but I think that’s more the style.

Lyrics

As stated above I did find hard to make out all the actual lyrics but I think that’s cool, I like loads of songs where I aint got a clue what the singers saying, its gives an air of mystery and intrigue. However in this song it’s just the opening verse and I could probably make them out if I really tried, it’s the deepness of the vocals which do it and I would swap them for the world.

Overall this is a great track, very accomplished and well done.  As it stands I see the track as more of an album track than a single but that’s largely down to length and the melodies not have quite that eye watering sting!

However this track is dam ready for the album and looks to me that ditheramb are ready to take the album to the world and be the biggest ozzie band since silverchair?

You have all the things needed for a successful band, great distinct vocals, accomplished back line and good strong melodic songs.

Keep em coming lads.
