HS2 - stick it up yer a.r.s.e.
Had a double dose of this one this evening....it's so worthy of that number 1 babe...bloody brilliant.
Hi James HS2 This has to be one of those songs that you cant help but enjoy, you really do have a way with words, its a shame you cant get it on "Radio One" mind you, being the BBC they would probably want you to leave out the ( ass ) word, Not Politically correct, Great sound Mate, Kev ARKADE MUSIC
Yep agree with all other comments.. great protest song with a great hook line ;-) love the way it rolls along and the vocs are great too.. it's all good my friend.
Ha ha! Love the song, Its a funny one and very meaningful! Hopefully you can stick this to them! Great guitar work and clever lyrics.
a good sound man i think people these days don't protest enough about this kind of stuff as far as i'm concerned they can stick it up their a.r.s.e.
Great protest song Andy. Very funny and I can imagine a whole crowd of you singing this as the lyrics wont take long to learn. Great stuff. Andy :)
Hi, my name is Darius Coleman and I am a new artist. I wanted to introduce myself and encourage you to take a listen to some of the music on my page! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!!
I prefer your more floyd vibes and your jazzy stuff. Vocally too. Your voice sounds better with a growl :) It's a good song but I prefer it when you do more proggy. Been a big floyd fan helps too lol. Good effort. Peace,Ricky
What a way to put a statement across! Lyrics are fantastic. The chorus made me laugth! Take a big shovel and stick it up your ... lol! This is really decent song and one that made me smile. Hope your sending a copy to No 10. Congrats on the No 1 spot. Rated.
I downloaded this, it's very funny :)
Congratulations on the No 1 spot and thanks for your comment on our latest track. A protest song eh - i really got the feeling you relished singing the word A.R.S.E. Love the instrumentation - slight military feel at times but a melancholic vibe as well. Excellent sound to the whole track - i really like songs that are inspired by real circumstances or events that are occurring in every day life. Nice one. James.
A great song, and it really highlights the whole notion of "progress" and what communities, mean to people, what can get fractured by rail/roads/truck/cars/malls...etc Wonderful melody, vocals, music and I love all the elements that make this track shine! Cheers, Andrew
This is a very nice track. Music is a good way to send messages to people about their concerns, and this does a great job of doing that. Has kind of a Pink Floyd sound to it, which is great... Great job. Anyways, sorry to change to the topic, but on your comment on my track, 17 Orbits, what did you mean by changing the bass so it cuts out middle and treble? Sorry, I'm not much of a techy. Thanks for your compliments on it btw.. Great job on this track again and Thumbs!
I didn't listen to this before because I thought it would be an aggressive track. But I was wrong. It's a very current "Mumford & Sons vs Pink Floyd" sound. I'd like to hear the vocals slightly louder, but that just personal taste. It is well mixed as is, but I think you could boost your vox a tiny bit more for better impact. No Lube lol. ;) Ess x
AWESOME TUNE! I love the calmness of your delivery. Very folky sound - I dig that too. Okay, this is worthy of #1 this week, I admit it. But then again, this is my first song that I've listened to. I know, "stick it up me a.r.s.e."
Woah let it all out Andy lol.Vocals methinks need a tad boost up.That guitar has a great tone love the ring to it..Ahhh those strings really add to the track and fill and warm the piece.Nice work fella and Number 1 i see...well done.
for "....", read @rse...
Love hearing the word '...' being sung with such venom.I also really like issue songs, so much more engaging than the vapid nonsense you hear on the radio these days by so called edgy bands.
Somehow i missed this (well almost). Better late that never. Your lyrics are always so meaningful. They cover so many facets of life, events and feelings. I dig this one Andy, can't say there are any of yours I don't admire.
Does have a political ring of Roger Waters to it Andy...He has a certain way of singing the "f.word"...you have it with " a..." I think they should bring back steam trains meself...nice and mucky..but slow! keith
OH yeah but spose I wanna travel faster? LOL I don't I promise!!!! Sorry late coming to it love, it's just too cool for words!!
Love it Andy
I agree the intro is a tad too long, one bar. Brilliantly written and captures the essence of what the Government does when it wants something against what the population want! The lyrics ' if you think this is not your fight or you won't make a difference' applies to all us Brits, we have to stand united and fight for what we believe in. Truly inspiring and I hope it works! You need to get it out to all those folk that are going to be affected by this particular issue - can you email it to Downing Street??? Can you get it aired on National TV - maybe the local mp needs a copy.
I like it, they should stick it up their ... too, intro a bit too long in my opinion! Gaz.
Somewhat bass abusive eh? I did try to be abusive in the lyrics so obviously the bass needed to be abusive to maintain the correct balance. It's a theory anyway LOL.
Somewhat bass abusive, and vocal level a bit low. Good tune, you sound like Roger Waters and/or Dave Gilmour on Grantchester Meadows. Too many people overdoing bass these days, had to say! You know I'm right. Doncha? Anyhoo, you extorted a vote from me...
Common now Mr O say what you mean :). This is a real fine piece of classic James Oakwood, such delightful production and loving your vocal more and more with every track I hear. There is a theory however... dare I say..yep..I dare :) that "what you resist pesists" Oh well, can't all be Zen eh? This is a great Track Andy irrespective of one's ideolgy. Well done.
Impeccable production values as always Andy. You sound more pro than the pros LOL. I really think you should send this mp3 to the HS2 construction company, your local politician, a newspaper, whatever. Seriously! It would be an unusual and original way of getting some attention to the issue. Or if there is a protest being organised about this somewhere you could send it to them, and have them play it on a loop during protests. The actual melody and vocal delivery are quite subdued, not as aggressive as a typical protest song (it ain't Rage Against The Machine, that's for sure!) so I doubt there would be any noise complaints. By the way, Michael, it's not that the British 'R' is silent (like "ahse") - it's just the way they pronounce 'r'. In fact, rumour has it that when the slang word originally reached the US, they might have misheard it and didn't realise there was an 'r' in it. Thus, the American slang word "a$$" was born. Ironically, when Europeans first heard something like "stick it up your a$$" they probably thought "ouch - poor donkey!" :)
Very nice Andy! You have such a great command in the art of song. Always a pleasure to hear a new musical offering from you. I will say that it doesn't sound like you're singing "..." rather it sounds like the "R" in ... is silent? Good stuff! -Mike
Hey Andy, pro production and no mistake. The song has a pleasant melody and you cant say that about most protest songs, all rant and no tune. The lyrics are to the point, exactly how people affected must be feeling. Are you personally affected or writing from their perspective? Enjoyed the song but with a feeling of dismay at the fact that the uk government will throw billions into this white elephant and there is nothing that will stop them? Rated, Gibbo
Sounds personal, you're feelin' this ain't ya? Guitars sound great, vocals really shine. Love the way you close this out, that's one trippy outro! Enjoyed my listen, sorry you're havin' to deal with this but ya got a good song out of it. Thumbs up!
Great bass as always on this one Andy and only hope that this is NOT where you have just moved to!! Good song and hope they stick that proposal where the sun don´t shine - or as you say!! LOL Got the new studio up and running then and sounding good....
Great protest song !! Unfortunately the people in charge of the project don´t listen to MP3U, I imagine. This song should get radio air time! / Peo
Bend over, Andy...they're gonna stick HS2 to you ;) Good to protest, and this is as good a protest tune as I've heard. Great rally stompin' beat. High speed links...most times I think we'd all be better off walking anyway....screw the HS2..I'm right behind you...well, more like beside you while the HS2 gets shoved your Staffordshire "... "...Enjoyed the crisp 'tude and tone here. Thumbs!
I always love your productions. You love that massive air on top of your vocals and it's gettin to be a stamp for your sound and I'm happy with that sound. Great song structure here as well your expressive words of defiance. Good to stand for what one believes in. Short and sweet! Do me a favor (just a suggestion)..and just leave this alone. It has that vibe of a fresh cut.
Nice opening Andy...vocals are sweet fella. Lol at the lyrics ;-) nice. Great bass sound, everything is so crisp and warm. Nice fx at the end.
I began recording songs in January 2006. Genre is rock, pop and jazz with electronica dabbles on a few toons. It's a hobby for me. I record using cubase.
Home studio using a PC, yamaha keyboard, a couple of guitars and a Rode NT1A mic. I use cubase for recording/mixing and wavelab for mastering.
A strange fact - in 1976, the term "Mega" was 1st coined by me and came into general usage as meaning something great or awesome. I was an apprentice electrician at the time and "mega" was a technical prefix meaning "a million times". I remember that all my fellow students started using the term so maybe this was down to me. Nobody hardly says it anymore so i guess it's run it's course.
Another strange fact - i designed a telephone for use in a mortuary. Dead interesting lol!!!
Nice strong melody & energy to this track, would be great for the movies.
wow i felt like i was actually at a pink floyd concert excellent tune.
James Oakwood is a new name to me from MP3 Unsigned but hey, he is a man in love with his bed obviously so he's cool by me. He's also a rock artist which, as you well know, definitely fine by me. According to his webpage, he's only been writing and recording since 2006 and features a tasty pick of all his kit (is that a Dell?); the kind of stuff you need to make rock music. Even
Wooohooo!
A refreshing track about my fave place, I love it!
Keep em comming Mr Oakwood!!
