Loosing The Will To Live
Just wanted to say that I have enjoyed your music on this website this year especially Gone Fishing and I very much look forward to hearing more music from you in 2012. Also well done on No.20 this week. Kind regards. PJ
The blues doesn't come much better than this. There's so much going on , it's a feast for the ears.the unusual vocals kept me captivated.Rated . Paul.
An epic work of life infirming magnificence that achieves its stated aim within a few bars and then goes on to press home its advantage to such an extent that even the cat has started going round the flat with a concerned look on his face every time he comes across me droning a few words from the lyric. I've just dropped in from FlickR where this has been a real hit: the ladies have all been saying nice things about the guitar playing. I'm heading over to YouTube in a minute to see if I can regain my usual joie de vivre with a compilation of Leonard Cohen and Phil Collins numbers. Never thought I'd be writing THAT sentence in anger!
I'm a fan of this tune. What's not to relate with.. This has a performance art vibe as well as a tight rocker vibe. It really does conjure up that feeling ya get sometimes weather it be when you wake for the job ahead or when you're done working for the powers that be.
Thanks for the compliments and support on the new song!!! This song is cool!! Really dig the fusion of styles you have going on. Nice job!! Thumbs up.
SH*T! How 'd I miss this one . This is low grade lo-fi at its best dude . The guitar is just magic and those lyrics -short to the point mantra style and yeah we've all been there . The stuttering rhythms & structures are very Beefheart Spotlight Kid era . Easy vote
I dig this punk/jazz/rock sound. Reminds me of Ed Hall - one of my all time favorite indie bands. Nice to hear you putting these tracks out - I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!
Its good to hear a new track from you - its been a while since the serene "Gone Fishing". Love that grungy guitar sound throughout - the lyric and the vocal delivery (Ian Curtis style) really convey how i feel every day having to do a relentless, monotonous job - so its nice that i can connect and identify with this track - excellent mix by the way - rated
Jon ya need to write a proper protest song hee hee. Yep I saw ya post on the forum and you are dead right dude - would be a good compo - I'm in that mood right now dude. hey it rhymes - good song title. This is a bizarre bit o vocal ya got going on - I wasn't sure at first whether ya meant "loosening" the will to live. A spelling issue i spose (intended irony due to carlsberg export). Sounds a very live mix but the guitar to me is the star of the show. Thumzup for an entertaining mid-point to my carlsberg session.
cool mix jon.. great guitar stuff going down on this track..ver interesting vocal .:) very apt for the lyric, dare i sare very leonard cohen. musically fab for sure!
Nice mix! Like the variety of instruments in the accompaniment, and some salty electric lead laid atop all that. Lyrics/vocals are blues in a nutshell, nuttin' else left to say! ...thumbs
I have always been musical - thank you to my music teacher Miss Horricks who discovered me to have perfect pitch and shocked I didn't play an instrument as I came top in my class ( as with everything else I seemed to do at that age!). My dad made a guitar by gluing together broken pieces of damaged instruments and thus music came about.
I continue flirting with the academic world currently sifting through ideas in astronomy and physics but whereas mathematics is exercise for the mind and music is exercise for the soul - it is my professional life that continues to put bread on the table and as such occupies most of my time!!!!!!!
This page is dedicated to my loving nephew, James Latimer who was cruelly taken from us.
I have reached the age where I have more friends who have died recently than I am able to invite along to "do the music thing".When I am gone - you people here will have to read it in the journals and it gives me satisfaction to know that you might even read about it and not know it was me!Anyway - I am in the process of clearing out the cabin a little bit ( not too much though!) The number of dead hardrives has dwindled recently as I have updated the heating system. I suppose if you are reading this you seriously need to get a life - just like me!!!! :)
The BBC don't love me.....My pension fund doesn't love me.....My music loves me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
