I hope you have enjoyed my electronic musings over the past couple of years..and a bit!! I thank you for the support.. take care all... and the best of luck to everyone in the coming year...
I first got into playing keyboards around 1982, I was inspired to do so after listening to ‘Upstairs at Eric’s’ by Yazoo, this album resulted in my first keyboard purchase, a Roland SH 101 synthesizer
After dabbling with this for a couple of years (1985) myself and two friends, purchased further instruments and eventually formed a band called ‘The Welcome Wagon’ rehearsing twice weekly in a local club.
The Welcome Wagon
This eventually grew into a six piece outfit including drummer and a backing singer, soon after recording a couple of tracks in a local studio we went back to the original line up of three (purchases another drum machine) we performed several gigs including one at The Riverside Club in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The line up being me on keyboards, Martin on Keyboards and Ian on vocals, we lasted around 3 years on and off and generally had a good time. Sadly, Martin passed away in 1999.
Martin
After that period I didn't seem to have time for anything musical and sold all of my gear. I got the urge again around the autumn of 99' as I had an unexpected amount of spare time on my hands (Don't ask) I purchased a Roland EG 101 synthesizer, a Yamaha RM 1X sequencer and a Yamaha SU 200 sampler.
In March 2003, I joined a Blondie Tribute Band (80's covers also) called Parallel Lines as the keyboard player... for this venture I again purchased new equipment, a Korg X5D Synthesizer and a Novation K Station Synthesizer, I also played guitar on a couple of tracks, we lasted for around 50 gigs and eventually called it a day in September 2005.

March 2003 - September 2005
I now use Reason 4 for my recordings along with my Korg X5D synthesizer, the Roland EG 101 synthesizer, Novation K Station synthesizer & Yamaha SU 200 sampler have all been sold on, I still have the Yamaha RM 1X and plan to use it in my set up at a later date

For anyone who is interested...the following is a list of synths/sequencers/samplers I have owned circa 82-08
Roland Juno 106
This was purchased from a north east studio, I was led to believe Erasure used this to record the b side of one of their singles...I did have a track listing from the studio to back this up...but like the keyboard..it is long gone..shame really...I lost the keyboard when Rock City in Newcastle Upon Tyne went bust! whilst handling the private sale of this and other instruments on my behalf...B*stards!!!
Roland SH-09
This was one of Martins keyboards, good bit of kit...but the one we had used to drift out of tune as soon as your back was turned
Roland SH-101
Owned two of these over years, never had the one with the grip on, still use SH-101 sound patches today in my Reason programme
Roland S-10 Sampler
This was purchased locally and worked probably worked..at best 5 days out of 7...the disk drive was not the most reliable!
Roland EG-101 Synthesizer
Classic synth and drum sounds, it was really a workstation..limited use of sampler and sequencer but great fun, one of those items that I wish I hadn't got rid of, I still see the guy I sold it to..maybe I'll buy it back!
Roland PR-100 Sequencer
I seem to recall this was not the easiest thing to programme, a bit basic too, I also seem to remember mine being black in colour...or maybe it wasn't ? anyhoo...this ended up on the same one way journey as the Juno106
Boss DR-55
The very first drum machine I bought
Roland TR-606
First drum machine for The Welcome Wagon
Roland TR-505
Second drum machine for The Welcome Wagon
Boss Dr-110
Home use only
Boss Dr-550 MkII
Home use only
Yamaha RX-15
Home use only
Casio CZ-1000
Very reliable synth, always worked when you needed it to
Casio CZ-101
Think I had three of these all together over the years, I recall having to send away for sound patches via mail order...the hours I must have spent keying in data, some good sounds from it
Yamaha RM 1x Sequence Remixer
I bought this is in 1999 and still own it now, it's really easy to programme, I used this mainly when playing in the tribute band, used it to play my own programmed intro's to tracks, I have thought about selling it on, but can't seem to let it go, so for now it stays
Yamaha SU-200 Sampler
Did exactly what you wanted, when you wanted it to, used this loads when in the tribute band
Yamaha DX-21
I was never a big fan of this synth..or any Yamaha synth around at the time, thought I would give it a go...hasn't left much of an impression with me though, can't recall any good or bad points
Korg X5D
I Still own this keyboard, it's permanently hooked up to my pc for my current Reason 4 productions
Korg Delta String Synth
I remember this synth, wish I still had it, the ability to mix synth and stings provided some amazing results
Sequential Circuits Pro One
The second of Martin's keyboards, I remember this having a basic on-board sequencer, some great sounds from this machine.
Novation K-Station
This was purchased when I was playing in the tribute band, good synth, great lead sounds
