This is as intelligent as music gets Rich! Goosebumps on the hairs standing on the end of my rope me another bull! How this never reached #1 is beyond me!
Just catching up here, I liked it all!
Back for another sir... can I have another sir? WICKED!
I remembered to mash the buttons this time too!
I saw you re-upped this so I stopped by. I've always loved it but I do detect some improvements. This is a close number 2 for me of yours, NYC Subway is 1. Your style is very unique... kind of a mix of Yes, Brand X meets a modern Electronica mixer. I love it and I rate & nom it!
God knows how I missed this first time around. Breathtaking guitar work. Love the background synth too. Hats off to Andrew for top mastering. Clear as a bell. Top job.
All I can say is Hot Dang! You get better and better with each composition. I always enjoy listening to your stuff especially when I need some inspiration for my own guitar works even though it's not rock. I always seem to come up with a few ideas of my own, by listening to real pros like yourself. I'm so glad we connected a little while back on the jams! Markku
HEY Bud ! Thanks for the great comment on my band SPIRE Your music sound like a mix of Pink Floyd/Steve Vai ! Cool stuff ! add me on myspace.com/thebandspire if you have a myspace. Rock on ! SPIRE
Reminds me of Buckethead more than Vai, with the spaced-out alt-prog leanings of this track. very solid & intuitive playing throughout, almost like freeform jazz. the production is excellent other than the latent static behind the lead lines; can't be clipping, must be the effect. Also in the latter part of the song the lead tone gets a little too nasally/harsh/brittle for me. Probably just personal preference, otherwise this is one trippy joint :)
I have to agree with all the posts, especially the first, this could have been on Vai's Flex-able album. In terms of sheer raw creativity he is amazing, and you guys could stand up on stage beside him on a G3 tour. Wow. D'Arcy
Hey my brother, sorry I'm late, all I can say is Holy F#$k. This has got to be best show of stringslingin on this site or any other I've ever heard. You take the crown bro. I'm gonna take a dwnld from you and in return all buttons pushed. BRAVO
Really interesting track, love the bass in that main theme. The leadwork is indeed astonishing, but things seem to clip/distort a bit for me in places (and not in an intended way!)? Fine musicianship as always though. Cheers, Jon.
good intro, like thepanning of those guitars and that wah, some mad guitar fiddling now:)very good, nice solo now, this is like a guitar orchestra:)diffrent solos from all angles, drums rolls sound good, top guitar playing, its a choone,
Hints of Gordian Knot in places but a lot more cohesive and progressive - the first solo at the 1.25 mark or so really caught me off guard, very unusual. Love the layered harmonies that follow. Great vibe to it, the bass line certainly gives the toe tapping vibe - love that hookline. Hints of Vai in the second solo, has a kind of lydian feel to it - lots of chromatics and acidentals that work really well. Second time listening and that unusual solo that features at the begining and end sounds like there is one of two notes out of place in the first ascending phrase. No biggy though, if they are intentional they do a great job of grabbing the listeners attention. One of my faves of yours so far, excellent track. Rated and nominated.
What they said!
Hey, Rich. Sorry it took so long for me to get to you. Heyyy, now that's a way to start a song, man. That was awesome how you brought in the guitar with the synth. I'm getting a very lurking feeling with this. Awesome. Now we got a guitar maniac line. That sounds bad ass, man. Very well done as it comes out into a crying guitar. That's rad. Very nice work. You really put your talents to the top on this one, man. Nice detail in the background, too! Those solo's are awesome. Now we're slowing down a bit with some nice trancey blips n' stuff with that warbling. This sounds very unique. It doesn't really remind me of anything. The ending maybe could have more of a build but no problems. There's not much of a "Sum of Andy Stokes" here. Awesome production. Crystal clear stuff. There was a strong mix. The arrangement worked great! Whatever you used on that guitar to make it sound that good... I probably don't have. lol Those solo's were screamin'. Awesome job, man. Rated for sure.
Very cool track, with some real quality guitar work going on in there. It almost has an off-world spacey feel to me. Good work. ONAGER
Thats some fat guitaring you guys got going on here. Think I will send the Skaven round for a bit.....
Not sure whether I've heard this before or not. Maybe I was saving a comment for another time. This piece is both interesting and pleasant to listen to. It asks little of the listener except to relax and take it all in. The lead guitar work is exceptional, worthy of Joseph Rodriguez! Well worth a rate, I'd say it suits Instrumental, Progresive Rock/Metal (lol)
Far from a usual listen for me but have to pay kudos to the arrangement, playing and recording which is of a really high quality........not just a guitar piece. Kevin Mooney
Nice blend of styles...it's amazing what works with what else. I guess it's called Fusion? Loved it from first note to last fade and you sound like you have an entire band here. Pretty incredible really!
Whoah, what a ride! Comparisons with Yes certainly apt, some of those passes Steve Howe would have been proud of, and I got a kick out of the synth bits too. Production, along with performance, is simply gorgeous, this is a great tune and you've snatched a rate and my last nom with it. Well done, highly recommended.
Very nice Rich. I really thought of Yes at 3:17. Great imaginative changes, awesome playing, pro mix. Rate & Nom Bro!
Way to cool! Great music not to mention the ever present talent. Rated and thanks...
Hi Rich! Cracking guitar playing mate.I see Andy did some mastering for you (Good job).Green with envy.Just quality. Rated Andy :)
Nice tune Iodine, some cool guitar playing and fxs in this. Enjoyed my listen
Definitely a great sound, superb guitar all the way through, synth textures add to the mix, love the choir pad very mellotron lol. Mix is great, guitar ring out. Actually one of you more commercial tracks if truth be told. Brilliant !! Rated
Love the timing. Some hot guitar there man. Love the prog changes and follow riff bass. That must have been fun to play.!)It builds and builds and shreds and shreds and fills my head with some fantastique tone and fret work. WOW!
Gday Rich, nothing I can add to anything already said except very well done mate!
nice twin leads. Sounds a bit like newish Hellowe'en, all you need now is a big german operatic voice on it, tee hee. Fantastic musicianship. Has hints of Rush about it as well with the peculiar rhythms, which appeals to me. Guitars sound absolutely fantastic, very Satchmo. All in all, worth a rate. Fantastic piece of work.
cool.... you so remind me of YES... which was a huge influence in my younger days... Yes Songs being my favorite of theirs.... very intricate composition and great guitar work, and keys too! I seem to be hearing some distortion in my left ears during the full on parts... seems only on the left.... wow that part just over half way through is way way cool... hell yeah!!!! kicking .... now!! that's thick... gets my rate. Well Done!
Fantastic guitar work and a really cool compostion, can only admire how you do this.
Great sound to the bass at the intro Rich, nice build to the main track, guitar work sounds very pro mate and sounds a treat..always something different as each phrase goes by, the keyboard flute sounds and the vocal pad sounds cool too..and did I just hear a scratch effect.. good stuff mate, very different indeed :)
Great guitar work on this. This baby starts off a slow burner then bam right in the face. I am amazed on your skills. easy rate Eric
It's a beaut Rich - a pleasure to work on. Andy
Thought I'd heard and commented on this before, you had it up before under the name 'un tit led' (very clever lol). Really great track, some truly amazing guitar work. The harmonies and bassline at the beginning remind me a little of Iron Maiden. Later on very much a Satch/Vai feel going on and the guitar tone is magnificent. Rated, Craig
Very cool guitar work on show here. Those riffs and solo's are on fire. Dude you must have twenty fingers on each hand. Love the spacey synth that fades in and out which I think sets it apart from other rock tracks. Cool stuff bud and an easy rate. Barry
Rich - you've put the wrong one up m8 or you've done something to it that makes it different to the one I mastered. This sounds more like the original one you sent to me dude.
Hi, Top-notch playing with amazing feeling coming through those fingers! Just superb! Highly creative arrangement too. Love the change around 3:00...very gentle and highly cool sounds! You so ROCK! Rated and nominated. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie
good work and good taste in playing. I have much to learn.
cool intro dude...that bline is very cool almost primus in feel :) of course the guitar is amazing, technique and tone really nice :) thats some crazy bline dude very funky like i said reminds me of primus :) tasty guitar licks solid beats and nice synths backing it all up :) very cool stuff "again"...you sure no how to build your tracks and guitar is always mouth watering :) lots of fret w@nking but always tastefully done :) top stuff rich :D
Hey Richard, Cool tune, man! I hear a little Vai FLEXABLE era influence in this...You definately have a Relativy Records or Magna Carte thing going on. Rated and Nom'd.
trying to hone the fine art of songwriting...
If Rich has done this track from scratch, composing all of the intricacies of each part, I am completely floored. If he only did the guitar parts, I am 99% floored. I have to think that he is solely responsible for the entirety of this masterpiece as it has his unmistakable signature style written all over it. This, like many of Rich's pieces, brings to mind, immediately, the intelligence of the
I've enjoyed Rich "Iodine" Ramsey a great deal since the first time I heard his stuff. I, for lack of good reason, have just burned him to CD for the first time. So, so many nuances shine through on a quality sound system that are missed by listening through my decent computer's sound system. I have an entire new respect for his cutting-edge composition, production and performance skills. His orig
Like Batman, I love it when a plan comes together. Take, for instance, my first run in with Canadian rock gods iOD!NE (and that's positively the last time I am going to write it like that!) when I was blown away by Meander (December 2007) and laid a Must Have at their feet. The reason (well the main one anyway) is that I am an insatiable rock junkie and I need my regular fix - this ban
When I saw that Richard (iOD!NE) answered my post looking for guitar instrumentals to review I immediately went straight to his track. Sorry for jumping the queue but since I first heard iOD!INE I dug the progressive vibes and far out progressive guitar skills. And needless to say, this track shines as expected. The track starts out with some railway sounds, setting the atmosphere
It never ceases to amaze me the contortions some people go through to make up a bandname. I got the name right in the title but I'll be jiggered if I'm gonna do it all the way through this review. iOD!NE (OK, so I lied) is a new name to me from MP3 Unsigned and that's probably more my fault than his/hers theirs... Looks like a band too, although there is a distinct lack of information
good music and great arregment.
