This is a great showcase for Melinda's obvious vocal talents. She has a very distinctive take on melody and harmony, almost other worldly. Beautiful lyrics on this one. The backing is simple but the focus of this song is on the voice, so there is no need for uneccesary extravagence. Rated.
Beautiful track, gorgeous in fact, the middle section is amazing as well, so much to love, so little time :)

Hey Mel and Ricky. Yay new stuff. Is this...calm!? I'd never expect it!! ;) So that's a nice surprise, that you're always varying it up. It's no surprise that it showcases Mel's beautiful singing talent. :D Really like the electronic sounds/ chilled feel and the guitar. You two keep it up. You're always improving and will always improve! Really nice stuff. :D
OMG this is just gorgeous!! I can not tell you how rich and beautiful this is! Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgeous!!
I hate to admit that Ricky has found his match. Mel you have turned a nickle into a dime. Bravo! This is great! Great job Ricky extravegant job mel.I am so glad you found each other. I was hoping that it would go to another level to make it really amazing! But hey....

Nice one u two, this track fits the momment that im in right now, very chilled out. This is one hell of a album you too have, every tune gives off its own unique vibe. Another great tune.
Its all been said - breathtaking!
Congratulations Ricky and Mel - this has a nice folky feel to it and like your other pieces, there is so much going on but you don't miss any of it as everything is perfectly placed if that makes sense. - Really like this one.
Glad I didn't miss this. The songs you both have created together in such a short time have been so amazing. Your talents shine and twine together perfectly! I will let you in on a little secret... This, so far has been my personal favorite. Something very special about this. Very special my friends. Bravo! Bravo! ;) ;)
Awesome vocals, great tone to your voice. Very delicate melodic song as well with good feeling. Good job!!
think i heard the first 1 without the vocal, that was nice this is feckin great, the vocal is just class.
backtrack is really nice on this.....arped pizz a la Enya is perfect against an outstanding vocal performance.......this is very easy to listen to. kevin mooney
This is deffo the BEST from you two so far imho. Love the vocals, the guitar is inspired and it is just f**** superb. Another SP Project chart cert.......
I am blown away by this. I love the guitar sounds. What a voice. Stunning. Ricky the production is class. I've not been around so this is a surprise style from you for me. Excellent!!!!!!!! Rog
Nice, really good vocals. Keep up the good work! ~VP & KG~
Another wicked vocal performance from Mel, maybe my fav yet! The picked guitar is phat to, with a lovely rhythm and melody. Maybe the reverb on the vocals is a bit heavy for me at times but other than that near faultless! n+R from me! Great job!
soooooooo good manners & mel
This collab is showing a different side of you, Ricky. Sweet acoustic track, with those sweet percussive melodies, and that delicious vocal on top of it all. Top quality track!
sry i missed this one, but i'm in for a listen now... hearing sum nice acoustics in the intro with mel's soothing voice. The pads are cool too, soft but sweet. 1:52's vocal was so sweet, its scary i got the chills when i heard that. The ambient and drums with ... sounds like a harp... is well done. Everything is perfect even the lyrics are nicely written. Well gunna deff rate this one! Matt
Ooh nice intro with the guiatr, woho is playing it? Ahhh and straight into the singing! Mel i dunno what it is but everytime i hear you sing i get shivvers all over! lol Some nice little backing drums here from Ricky too i can hear, i like the way they are just sitting in the background of the track and dont really steal any focus. now im hearing some nice phasing pads and i like the way the guitar is being effected or is that another arp? Sweet even pizzi strings in this too! lol This kinda has that 80s feel to it but up to date feel also, make sense? lol Well production recording and srtructure are flawless if you ask me and Mel FAIR BELT OUT A NOTE OR TWO!!! lol Best of luck with it you two! (",) Marty
Beautiful track, on third listen now...every track I hear from this Project instantly becomes my favourite...guitar and vocals sound amazing togther and the plucked string effect works very well, fantastic production and of course..rated and nominated.
How to do verbal justice to a track which flows gracefully along an ethereal watercourse like a trailing ghost of regret and lost offerings? Hard when you consider the structure of the song is intricate yet restrained and incredibly epic. The guitar meanders ever onwards past a backdrop of subtle percussion and glorious vocals and harmonies. Bittersweet, relaxed and melancholic.....still no justice there. Stella Polaris seems to be the best way possible. If this is to be the album closer, there could be no finer way to do so. All this may sound pompous but consider my opening question and you will probably find yourself hitting the rate and nomm buttons too........
this is the track that is the icing on the stella polaris cake..... fantastic u two... whatta way to close up the CD.... do me a favor Ricky and try something that just struck me...... right at the end at 5:52 where it starts to fade.... lengthen the fade by 2 secs and stick an accapello of the vocal that appears at 5:37... just where it says "my lo-ove" right at the end with the big trailing verb on it :-) this is great track guys.... please take my Rate and this should chart at #1 take my nom as well!
Bloody Brilliant. You are so versatile with your music and you singing. I take my hat off to you.rated. Barry
Excellent track you two and as has been said, one of your best to date.Love the guitar and then the plucked pizzicato towards the end.Mel your voice is a dream and the production is superb. A very relaxing listen. I too would have liked to have read the lyrics whilst being sung. Nonetheless a quality sound . Kudos to both of you. Rated and a nom from me. Andy :)
Back for another listen, sounding even better second time round. You two have got a real unique sound going on here, keep up the good work ;)
nice one ricky and mel.. this must be the track i love the most outta your stuff, no offence.. just great this is. well done indeed . production good. vocals are real pretty.. guitar is just brilliant . rated!
Definitely my favourite of yours - wonderful harmonies from Mel, and very restrained and subtle backing, Ricky. Yes indeed. Like this a lot.
the new mix is simply FANTASTIC! Mel's vox ring clear as a bell and the music arrangements hold everything together perfectly. It is truly an honor and a pleasure to be able to discuss music with the likes of you guys.
Great guitar work there, and great vocals again, although I think they could be a touch louder! Would have liked to hear even more percussion near the end too! Nevertheless, a rate and a nom (again)!
Great track. Love the plucked notes running through this and the vocal really has a nice rhythem to it...also like the lyrics a lot too. - Excellent work .
yeah this is good, interesting guitar effect, like the style there although i would like to hear more variation and perhaps one verse of accapella from Mel..the lyrics are not always clear which in a track like this they oughta be i reckon..knit picking its a definate rate!
I was captured straight from the beginning... that guitar sounds sooo unique... and it pulled me in to keep listening.... the vocals are fab! beautiful voice... and the prodution is spot on.. i just love that guitar sound.. its really nice.. this song would really compliment a film... i can see it working easily in a film....nominated from me! great work! so unique! x
Right this appealed to me straight away co's of the guitar sound, which is really good ain't it? What a great song... fine vocals/harmonies, really like the rythm/percussion sounds you have put in there, with the string stabs as well, subtle but very effective... yep hit the spot again my friends... excellent stuff which on the production and performance I can not fault... big thumbs up for this one!!!!
This is lovely....poetic, harmonic and just beautiful. Top marks both of you. Nominated
What a lovely song! Nice touch using the kick drum to provide the percussive groove, tho' I think it could be softer a bit to allow Mel's superb vox to take centre stage. That acoustic guitar sound is SUPERB, especially in relation to your other songs' electronica-ish tones. I'd think, though, you might want to drop the acoustic guitar for a complete verse somewhere and use a string or synth there to take the music to another dimension before bringing back the acoustic, it would make the arrangement so much broader. just my personal opinion, of course i'm biased towards old-fashioned arrangements!
Good track dude and will rate when i've finished ranting... Thought of psychelic at first and wanted it to be more swishy and phaser-ish on the guitars - y'kno.. more spaced-out. It's lacking a subtle scary element that would perfect it in my eyes/ears dude. Mebbit the guitar could be lower to project M's vox a bit more but mek it more psychedelic. Yeah it needs a subtle background effect/synth to swish it up for me. Hey rated anyway
Another very kewl track. love the acoustic, works great with the vox! who did the acoustic work? like the key change at 1:30. percussion work round 3:00 > is spot on. Everything sits right on that beat and back up the smooth vox very well. Beats are effective as always, not too much. not too little. another 'wow' from you two! for once i get to say it ...(lol@ricky) ... thumbs up you guys!
Another fine offering from you two. Love the guitar work, and Mels vocals are as always on top form. Can't wait for the album you guys, Rated x
Really cool chilled out vibe. Lovely guitar melody, agree about the hypnotizing effect. Melindas' vocals are really haunting on this track, definately my fave style of track from you two. Yet another winner from the SP cannon :o) ONAGER
Nice track to relax to, I found the guitar quite hypnotising, my only negative comment would be I found it hard to make out what alot of the lyrics were, might be due to the heavy ambient effects. Rated

Whenever Ricky Mancini slams a track into my review list, am torn in two different directons; flight or fight. In his MD-1 Project personna, his music is often abrasive, disconcerting and hard to get close to. There again in his collaborative effort with Melinda Mohn - the aforementioned Stella Polaris Project - his testosterone levels are somwhat calmed by, presumably, her calming prescence. T
Fourth time up for current MP3 Unsigned darlings Ricky Mancini (aka MD1-Project on the same site) and dulcet toned Melinda Mohn who collectively make up Stella Polaris Project. As it happens, I have been snowed under over the past month with CD's of all shapes and sizes, including Orphans, the latest from this duo. Regular readers will remember the impact this duo have made on me, gett
I bet that Ricky (Mancini) and Melinda (Mohn) known collectively as Stella Polaris Project are probably a bit stunned that, finally, I managed to spell their name right. Couldn't get it for the life of me until I came up with an ingenious (nay cunning) plan. I had the name tattooed on my childrens foreheads because I see them every day so I am not likely to forget. There again, m
Here's a question that's been rattling around my brain for a while; what has twenty fingers and two filthy minds? Well I don't know cos I guess I'm too old to be thinking about it, but I do know such an entity has a name - Stellar Polaris Project. This is the second track I've heard from this duo from MP3 Unsigned comprising of Ricky Mancini (aka MD-1 Project) and Melinda Mohn. A
Regular readers may have noticed that this month, for the first time in a long while, I have managed to snag some tracks from MP3 Unsigned. Digital Juggernaut was the first of these, Stelar Polaris the second. Stelar Polaris are an electronica due featuring Ricky Mancini (which should be a familiar name to long term readers) and Melinda Mohn. Not sure who does what but I gu
Thought this one was gonna be a tough one to review, but I listened to it a few more times and managed to get a handle on how I felt about the track so here goes. I suppose what first strikes you about this pairing is that it shouldn't really work. A deep soulful voice, mixed with challenging jazz/avant-garde chord progressions and whatever else they care to bring to the party. What's equally surp
For those that don't know, Stella Polaris is a collaboration that formed on this site between Ricky Mancini (MD-1 Project) and Melind Mohn (solo). Ricky the producer/nstrumentalist and Melinda the singer/ lyricist who also produces and arranges her own music. A very unique combination that I would have never paired together as he is predominately a trance music
The first thing that your reviewer encounters when embarking upon a review is, of course, the title. And today, dear reader I am faced with a track called “Orphans” and what strikes me immediately is how evocative that title is. So allow me please, a brief digression while I muse on this word. First off, it comes down to us from Greek (orphanos), via Latin (orphanus) and Middle English a
