Die For You
This is top class, can i call it frenetic jazz, maybe not lol.Love your vocals Melinda and Ricky excellent leftfield work, all bases covered on this tune.Cool Duo.
Again, this is just so different it's fantastic. Atonal electronica/funk/jazz/ POP !! It just shouldn't work, sheer genius.. I absolutely love it, real cutting edge stuff. Production is rich, precise and intrigueing, and performances are spot on all around. I've said it before, but I can't wait for this album! Kiopo. :)
listening again with my headies and those hi hats are very very well done!
I never knew what this Genre was b4, but I love to listen. Especially when i'm alone, cleaning, or having my "me-time!"
Hi, Nice cool crisp sound. Beautiful haunting vocals. Excellent quality. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie
Congratulations to the dynamic duo for their second #1 in the charts! :)
With a great mix this would be a great great song. Nice surprise from this. Who would have thought? More please. Mel your voice is top. Ricky your mad music skills are working well. Now for that new mix! Congrats.
A fantastic contribution by each person, with excellent contrasting styles and flavours, not yet tried and tested by anyone else. Excellent instrument work and production is brilliant, i think maybe the vocal is a little loud when i turn the track up loud. Theres many many individual efforts within this track, that all abide time to get there chance to shine. Enjoyable, interesting, jazz/fusion styled pop/techno interesting and very creativly exceptional
Really into this stuff in a big way, brilliant track, scales tipped towards in this one as a favourite of mine
Yeah, excellent work, great mix of jazzy vocals (very beautiful voice indeed) and electronica. Nice piano playing at the end... Good luck you both:)
Wow man...this is so different! The tone of the voice actually fits the song well. And the song itself, being electronic funky jazz it interesting all on its own. I can see how you love this Ricky, because it's great. It's catchy! I just think maybe the vocals need to be crisp quality and I mean like VERY crisp. I'm not sure if it's the reverb on the voice detracting some of the quality from the instrumental or what, but I think the sound quality of the vocal needs to be up to par with the instrumental here. I'm not sure if you can hear what I'm talking. I'm being this critical with you for the fact that you love this. I want you to love it more. You both created something awesome here. Rated! :D
You have undoubted skill in making great stuff from 'Freakbeat'. I could never do it - and to add vocals as well and make this an ace track is just, well, just brilliant. A top collab and Melinda is ace.
There is a lot to listen to in this. Makes the listener come back again. Each time I'm noticing something new. (or else Ricky is remixing it and reuploading it so quickly....no...he couldn't be that quick... could he.?) ;) Well the main thing here is that with a busy track that the vocals get lost or mushed up in all the sounds. But they are perfect here they sit well above everything and are very clear. Now having said everything is busy I don't mean that in a negative. The seperation and clarity is great. Its got the mancini signature all over it. Very good Track -- Outstanding Production.. Well done Ricky and Melinda. Cheers Rogue
wow, bizarre psychedelic jazz, lots of thing to listen to, interesting rythmsections, very good singing performance and pianosection, one thing i miss a bit is a short breakdown from the psychedelic, i was hoping to have a brief moment of drifting on heavenly vocal, piano and synth, than to be drawn back again by the somewhat disturbed beats en base... but... no worries, i still like, ratinglike ;) good work for both
If anything this track is even better than the last one. I like the fact that Melinda's vocals seem more natural in this mix - comes through much cleaner to my ears. I think anyone who takes their music seriously, whatever the genre, could not fail to recognise the skill and talent involved in this track. This is actually my second listen but wanted to go awa y and come back before commenting. It means so much more that way. Graham
Another brilliant track with great movement and use of sound that builds tension throughout the track. Compliments to both yet again Steve
first of liking the jazzy bass! Its like its manic but in a structured way. the piano is very well done, jazzy and very dramtic. Ah Mels voice, how good is she?! Damn good! lol I think that there is maybe a little too much reverb on her voice and could probably be turned down a little. Great singing tho big time!!! Some nice little synth shots from you Ricky! Sounds like a twisted moog! lol The drums are very well done tho! Have to say im really liking th drums!! They are like shuffled breakbeat jazz! lolNew genre Ricky? lol Ah that wood wind is fuking very well done! Its giving me shivvers! lol Its hard to say anything in a constructive manner as this song is very VERY well written and every element in he song from drums, synths, piano,, every instrument is played very well! The only thing i cold honestl say was wrong in the mix but easily fixed would be the level and reverb on Mels voice! I know of a little jazz and the over reverbed voice is used alot but Mel has such a nice voice it would be great to hear it more or less dry. This is turning out to be quite a collab you two! Every song i listen to is pure sweet! So i say you two keep making them and ill keep listening! best of luck you two! Keep it up! Top marks here!
wow just great guys, good collab! sounds immense
This is something else again. Those beats sound angry as hell in comparison to the rest of what is happening and the contrast is startling. A collab? More like a new force...... goodies given with feeling!
I love the jazzy feel to this piece! The drums are powerful, Melinda sounds great and the fragmented feel works well for the track, imo! I wasn't too sure about the piano at first, but it grew on me after repeat listenings! The only other thing I will say is that I feel the vocals are a little too loud in the mix! Otherwise, great track!
This track has proved that when 2 unique styles come together, a wonderful piece of music has been created. Excellent work, keep them coming. xxx
Fine quality piece this, superbly recorded, well put together, great definiation on all parts, clear as a crystal. Great vocals. The only thing for me personally is that it doesn't flow as much as my ears would like,, of course thats a personal preference and not meant to detract from what is a fab piece of music, just a little fragmented for my taste.... but cant fault it my friends.
Woa ,about missed this one somehow.Again you 2 did a fine job. This has a movie soundtrack sound to it to me.Neat beat go'in on.Way to go you two.
At this rate cd #2 should be out shortly! Excellent work you two! Mel, I just love your vocals, so strong, powerful and emotive! You give me goosebumps! Bravo to you both! :)
nice track.great vocal production.
you two have such a unique and definable style as seperate artists and bringing those two styles togeather has made a whole new style that i don't think i've ever heard before, (nothing i've taken note of anyway) this is great, great beats and vocals/instrumental. rated!
I seriously like this kind of writing for you RIcky, rather than the hyper Dnb and freakbeat stuff... not saying that stuff isnt good, it is very good... but this really shows your talent in a whole different light and more as a keyboardist thatn the other material... and Melinda is wow factor... not sure who did what on the writing/playing of the song... but its really great guys. and this is going to be a hell of a collaboration project! rates and nom for this one - well earned!
Excellent track again from you two, the vocals and music meld so well together again. The musical style and vocal delivery remind of some of Bowies stuff round the Outside time, which I think is excellent. You two are turning out to be a real force, and Ricky I think this is some of the best music you have made in this project, and Melinda, you have one of the best voices on here. Role on the album ;o) well hopefully an album :o) ONAGER
Love the way it ends too, excellent!
Another great track, Mel sounds fab, love the lyrics. What can I say, if this is what your producing I am excited what new developments you are going to take in the near future:)Rated
Bravo to the two of you...I really don't know how you can make this any better! but you probably will, quality stuff and in my opinion much deserving of a wider audience, Heard a few collabs on here but this one is truly meant to be, Awesome beats and production along with those lush vocals...rated and nommed, because it's bloody good!

Whenever Ricky Mancini slams a track into my review list, am torn in two different directons; flight or fight. In his MD-1 Project personna, his music is often abrasive, disconcerting and hard to get close to. There again in his collaborative effort with Melinda Mohn - the aforementioned Stella Polaris Project - his testosterone levels are somwhat calmed by, presumably, her calming prescence. T
Fourth time up for current MP3 Unsigned darlings Ricky Mancini (aka MD1-Project on the same site) and dulcet toned Melinda Mohn who collectively make up Stella Polaris Project. As it happens, I have been snowed under over the past month with CD's of all shapes and sizes, including Orphans, the latest from this duo. Regular readers will remember the impact this duo have made on me, gett
I bet that Ricky (Mancini) and Melinda (Mohn) known collectively as Stella Polaris Project are probably a bit stunned that, finally, I managed to spell their name right. Couldn't get it for the life of me until I came up with an ingenious (nay cunning) plan. I had the name tattooed on my childrens foreheads because I see them every day so I am not likely to forget. There again, m
Here's a question that's been rattling around my brain for a while; what has twenty fingers and two filthy minds? Well I don't know cos I guess I'm too old to be thinking about it, but I do know such an entity has a name - Stellar Polaris Project. This is the second track I've heard from this duo from MP3 Unsigned comprising of Ricky Mancini (aka MD-1 Project) and Melinda Mohn. A
Regular readers may have noticed that this month, for the first time in a long while, I have managed to snag some tracks from MP3 Unsigned. Digital Juggernaut was the first of these, Stelar Polaris the second. Stelar Polaris are an electronica due featuring Ricky Mancini (which should be a familiar name to long term readers) and Melinda Mohn. Not sure who does what but I gu
Thought this one was gonna be a tough one to review, but I listened to it a few more times and managed to get a handle on how I felt about the track so here goes. I suppose what first strikes you about this pairing is that it shouldn't really work. A deep soulful voice, mixed with challenging jazz/avant-garde chord progressions and whatever else they care to bring to the party. What's equally surp
For those that don't know, Stella Polaris is a collaboration that formed on this site between Ricky Mancini (MD-1 Project) and Melind Mohn (solo). Ricky the producer/nstrumentalist and Melinda the singer/ lyricist who also produces and arranges her own music. A very unique combination that I would have never paired together as he is predominately a trance music
The first thing that your reviewer encounters when embarking upon a review is, of course, the title. And today, dear reader I am faced with a track called “Orphans” and what strikes me immediately is how evocative that title is. So allow me please, a brief digression while I muse on this word. First off, it comes down to us from Greek (orphanos), via Latin (orphanus) and Middle English a
