Call Me V2
Sorry I missed this the 1st time around. This is a unique sound you have with the vocals but it really works! Nicely done. You created a really interesting vibe here. Thumbs!
Andy, I am really digging this, 2nd listen now,Love it.
Congrats on #1 this week Andy. Well done! -Mike
Great Vocals Andy, this has a really fine textural feel (??) just a damn fine offering.
Very earthy sound Andy! No hater of harmonies, in fact I am quite partial to harmonies and these sound d**m fine dude! Then we hit the big guns!!!! It all fits together like a massive and impressive jigsaw mate!! Wow!!! Loved it dude!! Call me anytime Andy.....lol!! Take care and Merry Christmas Bud!! Baz
This sounds very good, I really like the organ and other instruments used. Good job
Enjoyed this song very much James !!! Dynamics n taste !!! Very cool lead !!! Got a easy feel good vibe to it...reflections from the past...Outside the box, but dead center
V2...come back for another listen and its really sounding good Mr Oakwood! Glad i took another listen. Organ and synth sound fx are clearer now mate. Noice track :)
Hi James. Just wanted to say congratulations on No.1 with this this week. Love that chorus. PJ
Knew you would get the finer points sorted when ya had fresh ears and ya nailed it now dude!! Would deliver another thumz if we could...
I hear a totally chillin' Oakwood whose putting out some vocals that are so well set in a track that moves easily in gentle, yet complex ways ...lyrically and melodically....Call Me...a great slice of all the is the best of Andy's considerable abilities (including engineering/producing). When a piece is so well crafted together, it is a fine taste of music that flows seamlessly onto the ears. *(I have only one thought...snares...a little more snap...cymbals just a little too subdued...just my taste...more raucous/loose kits for this style, but gorgeous as it is...you little closet choir boy ;) loved the vocal layers!
Thanks rich but the b vox was all homespun like the intro in "voices" back in October 2011 - was Terry around back then? Maybe he was!!
Totally adore the vocals and your choice of harmonies, call me... reminds me of doctor doctor - in a lyrical sense!! lol Love how it moves upbeat at the 2.30 mark, and then at the 3.39 mark, I hear sounds of Floyd......... Overall a fantastic song, even though the lyrics are bizarre, I still find myself singing the opening line!
I do think I hear a Terry Wigmore influence with those b vox sway.
You master everything you do. This has a vibe all its own. Dark and sticky. The b vox is pure inspiration.
Very well executed song throughout! Love the verse as it hooks ya' right in. I would sure like to hear more emotion in the chorus as it seems like it needs more dynamic as the verse is already lackadaisical enough? Sweet the lead guitarin' and nice fretwork. -Mike
This is a great song James, its got that certain rhythm that (for me) evokes kind of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young vibe, or a lot of music from that era! Spot on production, excellent vocal harmonies, excellent guitar...etc Has to be the best song this year, so far for me! MERRY CHRISTMAS! Cheers, Andrew
I'm a sucker for harmonies...and this is amazing. I love it.
I think the girl in question would be very stupid not to call you after hearing this. Love the harmonies and the electric guitar section is top knotch. Well done. PJ
Very cool song indeed! Love the overall feel to this for sure. It's got that dreamy feeling with a groovy beat behind it that works so well. Great vocals, as well as great production. A+ and an easy vote for sure. Great job on this and always keep the faith!
Oh yeah! Great vocals, and some excellent lyrics you're working with, Andy. Love this arrangement, and all performances shine, 'specially that wicked lead guitar wrapping this beauty up Nice work with those drums....third listen and I'm not quite ready to let it stop looping!
Awesome, some complex vocal arrangements in this song, its so tight it hurts, love the drum patterns, the lead break, just the complete package, brilliant. Big thumb, Gibbo
My God there's some good music to be had on this site! Some super smoothe controlled harmonies here,Sounds super polished to me...and then some.. theres that magnificent lead break...but...I want your voice dude...Top notch! k
This is terrific Andy. Your raw, expressive and cerebral (sometimes) lyrics are always a treat with every new entry. No crits, even if I knew anything I suspect....
Ha ha yeah beach boys - I did watch the programme but i did the middle-section harmonies the previous weekend.
That´s some neat harmony work in this one Andy and super guitar solo. You watched the Beach Boys the other night too? Lot of work and time gone into this little gem and it was worth it. Won´t give any advice on the mix as you know more than we do. LOL A couple of days and fresh ears will have this shooting to the #1 spot and here´s a thumb from us to help the journey...L&B;
Some organ and other sounds very low in the mix from 1:20...would like to be able to hear them dude ;) Ah coming through now with an ace guitar solo. Great vocals and arrangement...just turn up that early organ and fx work :)
I began recording songs in January 2006. Genre is rock, pop and jazz with electronica dabbles on a few toons. It's a hobby for me. I record using cubase.
Home studio using a PC, yamaha keyboard, a couple of guitars and a Rode NT1A mic. I use cubase for recording/mixing and wavelab for mastering.
A strange fact - in 1976, the term "Mega" was 1st coined by me and came into general usage as meaning something great or awesome. I was an apprentice electrician at the time and "mega" was a technical prefix meaning "a million times". I remember that all my fellow students started using the term so maybe this was down to me. Nobody hardly says it anymore so i guess it's run it's course.
Another strange fact - i designed a telephone for use in a mortuary. Dead interesting lol!!!
Nice strong melody & energy to this track, would be great for the movies.
wow i felt like i was actually at a pink floyd concert excellent tune.
James Oakwood is a new name to me from MP3 Unsigned but hey, he is a man in love with his bed obviously so he's cool by me. He's also a rock artist which, as you well know, definitely fine by me. According to his webpage, he's only been writing and recording since 2006 and features a tasty pick of all his kit (is that a Dell?); the kind of stuff you need to make rock music. Even
Wooohooo!
A refreshing track about my fave place, I love it!
Keep em comming Mr Oakwood!!
