Promenade des Anglais.
Cool is the word that comes to mind as I listen to this excellent production. Cool in every sense! I love the flute line! Phil, you should be on that poster along with all those other artists. I know that an audience would appreciate this music. It’s catchy, full of melodic and harmonic vitality, and would perfectly fit such a venue. I have listened to PROMENADE DES ANGLAIS several times and am still enjoying it!
this is a lovely track, really laid back jazz lounge feel, with a kind of contemporary feel, thats no mean feat, really great vibe.
What Terry said and more! Love the inspiration and to my mind this work fits the picture you paint in your liner notes! Great stuff! Thumbs!
This is a very good percussion track...moves very snappily in the jazz/funk/soul of your tune. Worth going over these tunes and bringing them up to date...new software? The artist comment gives the context for this and I appreciated the read...the story is part of the listening experience, to me :) Enjoyed the updated version, Phil! Well Done, Thumbs! (fyi..clodhopper aug 2013...may well have been one of his last comments...passed on...his comments ...he was in the industry for years and I valued his brief comments...glad he came by here. .)
great ambient work
Hi, this works " big time" for my ears. I feel the inspiration described flows through to the listener. nice work :O)
Always Loved this era of the 70's...my ultimate favorite time...and a funky, groovy...superb little melody going on too..keith
The scene you describe fits the musical bill exactly. A very sophisticated old school European vibe and a real treat for Wednesday on a Tuesday night. The flute is just SO cool. LW x
Yeah, got that great mellow late 70's jazz/funk groove. A good time for "Soul" music i think because it started to incorporate many subgenres under its roof. Really nice work, enjoyed and rated. Gibbo
i love this its like listening to the gazuse! album by gong 70s jazz rock with a modern twist its made my day thanks from Steve
Cheers Phil for comms on my Drum n Bass track. This is slick and the arrangement is interesting, the flute hook is very infectious. With a Daw like Cubase or Ableton or Fl Studio etc you will create some very cool tight sounding tracks and improve on the sounds you have available on your keyboard .DAW is the way ahead...lets say it can make music making a treat.Welcome to the site .
Hello Phil - thanks for your comment on our latest. Haven't come across your music before. Love the french title - i spend quite a bit of time there and like all things Francais. A mellow and laid back offering - very melodic and jazzy. Particularly like the bassline and the flute work - is that an electric piano i can hear in there too. Obviously a drum machine keeping the beat - i personally like the sound of them - i have an Alesis one from the 90's and have the use of a good old casio from the 80's. Rated. John & Paul
It's the melody here that grabs me. That jazzy riff from the flute just won't let me go.
The drum track was put together on an Archos101xs android tablet using the G-Stomper app, it has a lot of functionality and a great, rich, piece of software. All the other instruments are played on my Yamaha MM6 keyboard and recorded and mixed directly into Audacity on my old pc (audio tracks, rather than midi).
Loved it a week ago, love it more this morning...nice touches in the final version...snare has been tamed :) Good work on this Phil. Have you thought of using a brushed kit instead? Just a thought..some great VSTi's out there..what do you use? The overall vibe is what catches my ears...feels just right :)
Thanks for your enthusiastic comment Terry; It's great to read. Finished mixing now (I normalised the snare in the process :) - hope you like it.
In progress you say? Love it as is, says I...this has soul...so cool...the flute does it for me...sweet voice...the snare could be down in the mix a bit for my ears...but jazzy or what? Love that! This is my cup of coffee...really eases me into the wonder of the day...my promenade de matin! Thanks!
Hi,
I have played the piano a long time now, I was classically trained from the age of 6 and sold my soul to Blues and Jazz at the age of 14. ♦
I've played in a number of bands, from rock to soul, funk, jazz & blues. Recorded in some great studios and toured extensively throughout the UK and Scandinavia, many years ago. ♦
I enjoy composition, improvisation and music in any number of styles with an eclectic taste in what I enjoy listening to. I've recently started playing regularly again and writing and recording music, originally just to hear what my improvisations sound like when recorded, but now I find how much I enjoy writing and composing all over again. ♦
I really enjoy the ego-free zone, energy, inspiration & talent on this site. ♦
I compose with ..
Yamaha MM6 keyboard
Ableton Live9
Dell laptop
Sennheiser headphones d(".")b
Arturia Analogue Lab and Minilab
EWQL Gold
Drums tracks composed on G-Stomper & Ableton
& A dash of inspiration
I hope you enjoy listening, constructive comments are always welcome :...
Thanks
