then and now
Sometimes, actually most times you just wow me, vocals to die for!
Thanks for the comment on "Wicker Man" Pink. Wow this is 36 years old. I wonder how many songs you have written and recorded in that time. Mellow and moody - atmospheric too. Super guitar work and that peerless vocal up front. Great stuff from the archives.
boojolay, no strings. It's my vocals drenched in spring reverb.
Hi Rich, This is wonderful, your guitar here sounds shimmering, and resonant, I love the timing in your vocals and great lyrics, I too sense a deep poignancy in these words! Great recording on Tascam Reel to Reel, I love the sound of tape, so good Rich! Andrew
Stands up nicely from 79 Rich...ah yes the Tascam reel to reel. Such a warm, warm sound! I can hear the underlying...er...youthful angst here... Super track! keith
great song... 1979 was when I start my music journey.. good work here
Unmistakably Lodato... unique and recognisable to anyone who knows your work Rich. The years can't hide this. Not long enough - love to hear what you would do with this today ? Enjoyed as ever - Phil
I love this btw. I'm sure with your body of work you have different sounds from different parts of your life. I'm guessing my favorites of yours are "of yesterday".....
I hear lament in this song. Leaving a home you didn't want to leave (and the people?). Hell, you were probably chomping at the bit to get to Philly to escape the madness of the time. What the F do I know?.....
Quality never ages, love the strings it is like an echo in the background...............David
est. 1979...the rest is nearly 40 yrs of history...this one has a folky melodic style that you run so well with...vocal has a cadence...a run at times, a stroll at others...bass has sweet tone hovering along the bottom...enjoyed the poet muse from S.F... prophetic... :)
Good to hear these older songs Rich, this is how you got to where you are now. Hearing the trademark vocal and guitar sound, so good. Easy vote, Gibbo
this is just lovely Rich!! Your voice sounds wonderful and I agree with Dave regarding the guitar!! Easy rate C:)
Oh, that's pretty, and you've stayed pretty true to your style, Rich. Easily recognizable as one of yours, hearing those younger vocal chords is a treat! That guitar sounds beautiful, nice recording man.
it's lodato here
just needed more room for my archives and some new things as well.
pink is the color of the Ginny t Paul was wearing when I met him that Saturday night at the Bikestop bar..(my hang out). omg!
sali is from my middle name Salvatore. My sister says she talked my parents out of Salvatore as my first name because all the Irish kids would ridicule me and call me sali. Oh, if I had my say...
I'm from northern New Jersey usa
Raised under the George Washington Bridge and also under Palisades Amusement Park. A famous place at one time. American Bandstand used to program special events there during the summers of the 60's. I remember all of that growing up. It was a large part of my upbringing as most of my young time was spent there working for them as a pre teen and getting into lots of trouble. Oh the stories there to tell...
my montra is
who's the red head! and,
if I don't have a tune in my head,
if I'm not humming,
I'm probably dead.
still a hippy inside as was my goal in life
I'm lazy and drink too much
I'm not afraid of living the truth I believe in and shoving down everyone's throat
kindness is king
bitchieness is next to godliness
I like both
the usa
can be heartless as anywhere else
from greedy heartless corporations
unwanted seeds
they'd have one die as a number
ignore the cry
oh but not the people
outside
inside
there's love
an amazing thing
that's what's here
I believe in it
it always wins
just stop long enough
and listen
only listen
you'll hear it's crazy heart beating
endless as the grains of sand
