I love what you have done with well all the synths really, I can tell you are well practiced at your craft, it just has a fresh sound to me and that's what makes it special.
Your lighter stuff I enjoy. I couldn't go on with "Distorted Universe" but this has more melody.
You don't need me to tell you this is good - look at all the feedback! I'm now a techno convert. Look out Ibiza! (Or have I got that wrong?)
Nice start Andy, stutter chords cool, the kick is on the money like that can i buy it heh heh :) The resonance sweeps are very well modulated, lots of work gone into that section i can see now why your wife was dancing. The hats are sweet in the mix nice bit of techno hear Andy lovin it,the comments say is old school,,look if it makes people move and yourself then thats what its all about, and this is a mover alright. Bassline just come in and that sold it for me,the arrangement and production are class.Nice one
liking this Andy, again clean on the production, and lots going on...i can see a bumble bee movin to this somehow!!!
Very good, def had me dancing, floor filler for sure. Love the bass, love the way the synth sounds like it is talking :) Deborah Ivri
This sounds like a Hardfloor track to me - which is all good. also sounds driven - like a determination which could see the first Gatecrasher on Mars. This is so not the sort of thing which gets played on mainstream radio- unless the DJ is having a nervous breakdown and wants to be fired - shame though cos I would listen to the radio a lot more if tracks like this were played. I'll follow in the footsteps of Sonya and few others and rate this methinks.
Nice weird & wonderful sounds have original quality about them, sounds like you created the sounds - certainly gives it a different quality - type of thing that has kind of trance quality about it - even tho you labelled it techno!! Nicely produced. Nice little mind-numbing number! R8d Sonya Stewart.
im digging the lead pretty well. i really think it shines its best during the fill into the next measure. The beat works well enough, the kick could use a bit of compression in my opinion, but im often considered as an overcompresser. at the 145 mark i dig what the riff is doing now that its repeating. and that is an effective build. but once the beat comes back in, perhaps thats a little anti climatic. the most challenging thing to do on builds is give it jusstice once the beat drops. MArty does a damn good job on builds. anyways through and through i see this as a good tune. i really like the sound of the main synth. the arpegiator is effective. good work, glad i found ya on here
Not my usual thing, so I will not comment on the musical content except to say I wish I could do that. Very professional job. Arrangement and production are top drawer.
What is going on here In my face every which way, This is crankin in my head and bam! Got it going on Andy Nice one Vin
never met you dude but your music is like md1s a little,, thats a massive compliment lol.. i like this track, love the cheeky lead phazer type sinth, and that kool bass riff.kool builds breaks drums percs ect fecking brilliant :O)rated
I like the fake build around 2:20.....very teasing lol! Works though! All round good track. Kevin Mooney
Lucky you having a partner who doesn't mind listening over and over and over! lol... Congratulations Andy on being the Featured Artist Of The Week! Very cool upbeat tune! I can hear what inspired your wife to dance! ;)
Just seen you're artist of the week, well done. Not a techno fan, but there are elements of the track that impress me, such as the percussion, nice and fast paced. I think the hard synths that flow in and out of the track work well for the genre. 2 bits of advice for you, I really think that this does need some variation. Also that sound that comes in at 1:08, the melody of it is cool, but I'd change that sound you use for it, maybe just my preference, but not too keen on that. Like I said, I'm not a techno fan, but there are definitly some good elements to this. Do think you could work on it some more tho, good luck with it! :P
Hi Andy, quite liked this tune although its not my genre, the kick sounds good- loud but not harsh on the ears which alot of people get wrong, I personally prefer more up-front drier sounding hats but they sound ok, good work.
Sup Andy, i like the sounds in this tune, i know nothing about this genre but everything sounds nice n clear. Cool synths in there too. Niceone
I JUST LOVE STEPPING OUTSIDE THE BOX, IT OPENS ONESELF TO NEW HORIZONS. THIS TRACK FLOWS QUITE NICELY, WELL PRODUCED, LOVE THE HIGH HATS...ME BEING TRUE "BASS" MAN, I CAN APPRECIATE THE FUNK OF YOUR WORK, U GOT SKILLZ MAN! THE PRINCE OF RNB~ RATEDX
Sounds 90's to me too. Great beat to it, I can picture this being played in a club with strobe lighting and people dancing like nutters. Very well produced, everything sounds clear as a bell. Good work. Rated. Craig
Whats up Andy! Ahh reminds me of the Tech stuff around the late 90s! That little gated tech sequence is cool tho and hits the spot nicely and with those filtered sfx it really adds nicely to the flow of the track bud! I like that wee arpp'd bassline but i think it would have made more of an impact if you had brought it in a little earlier! Dunno if it helps any but just a wee crit! :) Some nice drums tho and i couldnt fault them even if i tried! haha that snare roll is just mint and nice filtering on this, can help but notice how complex and good it sounds! Its that wee gated synth tho that keeps the groove going along side the drums that really do it for me in this track! If you ask me this is probably the best of your trax that i have heard and this has got a great nostalgic feel to it for me, so thumbs up on that! ;) Best of luck with it bud and keep them choons coming! Marty
Wahey this cool. Got me dancing like Ian Curtis! Fairground at night feeling, moving cars, is cool. Thumbs
strong on the percusion...just how good techno should be...phat kick twistered melodies that are not of the norm...very well constructed...yup this is right in that cuppa that i appreciate :) really cool techno lead synth and good hat work :) me likes it alot thumbs up
Great club thumping track Andy and that bass drum is massive...lead synth sound has an almost vocal sound to it, great stuff mate :)
Well, like Mel not my cup of tea normally, and I couldn't dance to it, but being as objective and open mnded as possible, it seems rather well constructed this, melodically it's a little strange, and some interesting counterpoints in the structure that dont particulary make it easy listening, and being a guitarist cant make any comments on the technical aspects of this, and I dont have the faintest Idea how you do this stuff, ;-)but it's an interesting track, and all the sounds seem to blend well. So for the genre, seems very good!
high energy - and I am soo not qualified to critique this but even tho its not strictly my cuppa it has a shimmery interesting quality to it thats very appealing an the groove deffo gets the caboose bouncin:)
up for a bit of techno 2nite andy, kiks off right away that synth work reminds me of a tune that i really like cant remb the name, would love a bit of a fatter kik but thats just me,the second set of percs are nice not sure about that open tho, great build very nice (excellent there)it kiks in nicely but as gav said needs a little more omph, ive the same probs myself, fukin great synthage, with a good hard edge, deffo would dance to this tune, really like the type of stuff you do,top tune
Had me bopping about as well mate, you always do sweet basslines lol. Your tracks are always very sp.... and really strong mix wise, so much space in the mix, always look out for a new track from you. Great stuff rated :)
Nice sounds there Andy, the main synth sounds delicious and you got a nice building structure. I was expecting it to really kick in @ around 2:18, it kinda promises it with that roll up but it doesn't really go boom, lol prob the old raver in me :) - it's a small point really cos this is a very well made tune with great synth choices, ez rate for quality techno.
Well, I started getting even more sick on Monday when my blood sugar counts would NOT balance no matter what. Since then I have not recooperated and am not doing well at all. This is not a complaint. It's a form of information telling those who are interested in my status. It's not good. Drs are running around with confused faces on their heads wondering, "What went wrong? We were doing so good!"Nobody knows what is happening to me. A 33 year old with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy is considered impossible or a miracle. I'm leaning towards a living miracle. I've fought for so long with this. I'm starting to wonder what for? I look at the children who didn't choose the treatment option: Steroids. Now I see children at the age of 16 dying of heart failure wondering, "Why wasn't that me?" So young. So early. I fight so that people can see treatment options WORK! But they're terrible on the system.I've lived with steroids/prednisone for my entire life. With asthma. With infections. With sickness. Prednisone was always the answer and still is. I may not be able to lift a single pound. But I'm one of the strongest men you'll find. I fight because I want to be stronger. I fight so that I can prove people wrong. I fight so I can make music. I fight for my wife to see me live another day. But I'm getting tired. My eyes are as heavy as my arms. They're slowly shutting. And I'm almost ready to go to sleep...
Yes, it's been a little bit known that I've been working on some tunes for a while and I haven't released anything for almost a year. I've been up and down in the health department so that distracts me. It's no excuse but I have been working on mainly just material. There is a couple songs in my library of "unfinishedness" that have some of these elements I've been working on in them.Mostly, it's been experimenting lately. Lots of reading, lots of education, lots of keeping up with the new technology while retaining the techniques of the old.Analog synthesizers are going for cheap these days and now is the best time to get your hands on one. DON'T WAIST TIME! Even if you can spend 10 minutes a day reading an article about anything music. Even if it means reading about something totally new to you. Ideas and motivation come from the oddest places. Keep an ear out! Andy
I would like to apologize about not being able to post lately. I know I have a review to finish. Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish it until I have recuperated. As most know, I have a lot of health problems and am bound to a motorized wheelchair along with being home bound and unable to leave my home as my body is extremely sensitive. What is happening is my pain level sky rocketed and Dr.s are thinking my Muscular Dystrophy is hitting near the final stage mark of the muscles becoming separated from the bones and the tendons begin separating from the muscles. Kind of like being torn apart from the inside. Hahaha! Well... It makes for good pain visions if you're into those sort of things. Anyway. I'll be undergoing some tests and may get a morphine drip. Or a nerve blocker installed into my body (I don't know where they implant them). Whatever action, they're on top of things so I'm sure I'll be back commenting and reviewing good as new fairly soon. I'm getting frustrated about having to become sick again every time I come back. I'll just have to keep coming back. Right? THAT'S RIGHT! I hope all are good and doing well. I miss you guys a lot and I'll be using my wife's laptop to make music. I'll be in bed for a bit but I'll make it out. I will. Ciao! Andy Stokes
So my journey to myself continues while I keep tapering down my pills dose by dose. Almost there. 2 months, max, I'd say. Been messing around with my gear a lot lately. For some reason it gets my mind off the trickery the withdrawal brings to my mind. I stay alert in the world of being sane and grow closer to the end of my descent like a plant foresting it's roots to the center of it's nutrients. It's all good in the neighborhood. The ideas are flowing. The video games are being played. Tomorrow I seek a movie. I'm tired of staying home with my misery. I'm going out no matter how bad the pain is. This motorized wheelchair doesn't stop me from achieving my goals. I've made many songs in my days and intend on making more. I'll have something nice for the acid freaks when I begin to comment again. You'll have something in return. I promise this. Have a great day and thanks for reading. Everybody have a great day! Andy Stokes
Even though I don't really have anything else better to do but sit around with my wife all day long and play video games and make music, I've been spending some quality time with movies lately. I've been catching up on some of em'. 30 Days of night or whatever it's called was pretty good. That was one of them.I've been working on music here and there and everywhere. I suffered a bad break with having going through pain management due to my pain from having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. That set me back in my music area quite a bit but now that I'm feeling better, I've been working on some new stuff. An ambient song, a groove song, and a techno song. Been messing around with Essences' voice a bit too so I can practice and delve into the vocal world. I'm thinking a break beat song would be good for the sample she graciously handed out. I'm not very good at it! hahahaha! I'm an honest person and that's the truth!Well for all of you that actually read this, thank you for your interest. Hopefully you'll be seeing another good track from me soon! Have a great day everybody and enjoy the spring!
I've been working to perfect some old songs of mine to make them sound better and more fuller. I've added a couple new ones and have more. I just need to pay my space for more songs :D When funds become available, I'll be sure to add them as soon as possible. Hope you all have a great day and thank you for reading this!
Hi. Each month I'll be adding another MP3 slot so keep on the look-out for more of my songs. Andy
Considering that, of all the genres, techno is my main hate figure, Andy Stokes got away prettty lightly when I reviewed the very first track from him. Dance Floor Confusion escaped the Gilmore scalpel by dint of the fact that the track was more dance than techno, at least in my opinion. It worked very well through a big sound system and that's the main thing with music of this type; l
Aceeed!! Damn, those were the days huh? Like many of us, I went through a dance phase, going out almost every night and dancing my socks off - usually more off my face than on it if you get my drift. I was getting a little long in the tooth when the rave scene exploded although I did, generally, get into the musical side of it. However, that was a long time ago now and musi
The title? Don't ask me, I haven't got a clue. Andy Stokes is a new name to me from PM3 Unsigned. He's a techno musician from the US, and his story sounds very familiar. Came into music through Playstation's Music program (it's either that, Ejay or Magix innit?), then turned to Fruity Studio (also my own production tool of choice) because of the limitations inherent in instant mu
