Borealis (Arctic Night Remix)
Nice comments from Andy - which is like a mini review! The update is sweet - those FX are very modern and used by a lot of pros these days. -It is hard to make a trancer which works on all the levels needed - and this one is very very close - great remix.
We start with a good baseline and smooth background knocking noises. Then we go into the eerie sounds. Good stuff so far! Love the choice of clap. Those can be tough to choose sometimes. But I don't agree with how it comes in and then goes out. Not my song! Just a bit of a detail critic. lol! Now we go into a lovely string synth melody. That sounds so soothing, man. Great job on the transfer, too! You got something good here! The choice of synths are swell ones. That was a good build. Not "holy smacking cows, I'm going to explode all my energy on the dance floor" but it was a good build. Could have had more to show for it but very good! Not a let down. Builds can be tough. You did great. Then we calm it down a bit to the end. Nice outro, by the way. Lots of detail. I liked that. Structure had a strong mix and everything sounded clear and positive. Very nice production. Have a great day! Rated.
good track man!
i like that xfiles plink think it gives it a great hook, diffrent strokes for diffrent folks i suppose, bottom end is sounding ok,the stabs and the under running synths sound good, the synth in the breakdown comes in very sharpish sounds very good tho, build ups not bad at all, half decent wee tune good work
well really i think its great, build up takes its time. nice sounds bass is ok and pads are lush. the arp tho quite simple try changing the simplistic arp to add some catches in it. needs more effects... But all the elements are there making a good trance track. Rated! Matt
My favourite key for trance. If my ears are not decieving me G minor? Only one thing lets this down for me and that is the X Files melody which enters late on - then again it is called Borealis so I guess it isn't out of place. I remember a similar melodic sample in the early Playstation music Generator and so I have an aversion! Other than my 'One Foot In The Grave' type moan the track is well produced and enjoyable. Rated.
Next up is track from a newcomer to the site, Dj AA and his track Borealis (Arctic Night Remix) Going to approach this review in a slightly different way to the norm as I am hardly qualified to review the Trance genre, so any comments I make regarding the track will be mainly directed at the mix and structure of the song, rather than commenting on it's commercial appeal of if it successful in it's
