Die For You (IDM)
wow, loving the idm feel of this track.
Heyyyy, cool slappy bass sound to start it off. I also like the hard synth sound. Very weird sounding stuff. I love weird! :D The complexity kind of reminds me of some band I can't remember the name of... oh well. That vocal is awesome. It's weird too. She sounds crazy. That really adds to the feeling of the song. Which I find serious and angry. Great job portraying that. The words are chilling, dude. I like it. The tone of his voice and the intensity. This is a lot like a story being told. "The center of your own consuming life." Thats just... ! Holy flarping shmit, dude. That ending is psycho! Haha! Yeah! This song is awesome, man. I liked it a lot. Very electronic sounding. Of co.... I can't ever say anything bad about the sound quality between you two. The voice fits. Totally. Have a rate and an awesome day!
weird and groovy lol, banging percussion and random percs all over, dun know how this sounds with a vocal but.... when mel comes in sounds pretty cool actually with all those delays behind her voice. ooh that vocal sample lmao... ok the ending was quite weird ..... cool track guys with a kick ass bass Rated!!! Matt
the bass sounds divine. this pitch of the vocal melody suits mels vox best. progressive background. i cannot identify the chords but it sounds very jazzy. the chorus is catchy, maybe you could do a version with a more danceable background because this could also be a good pop tune. energetic and beautiful.
Lovin' that dense radio-tuning/electronic meltdown backing... your voice is very different too.. very digitally futuristic sounding, if that makes sense. Sweet ending also. Great job all round; I'm scared to listen to this after smoking :P
Definitely trippy. Mel's vocals are always great! :) Like the mix of the echo of Mel's vocals and how those sound effects kind of swallow the echo away. A very interesting effect really. And the ending lol. That's a very different type of ending coming from you two. It's cool, and strange, but the title wouldn't be called "Die For You" if it didn't happen. :P Good job you two! Keep making those tracks!! :D Left the usual!
Trippy stuff, Mels vocals are excellent in this track, totally fits with the trip hop/kinda dark beat. Pro sounding beat and killa vocals, very original tune.Like the added vocal smaples too. Well done
You guys are nuts! This is tripping me out! Very unique and different which I very much appreciate. I can never really fault any of your tracks because they are pro all the way around and entirely original. Is that Vincent Price??? HA! Very interesting stuff Mel and Rick. You guys have such an interesting collab. together.
Hi You two! Another unique piece. I too thought that the vocals were really misplaced and din't fit the track at all. BUT when you really get into it they DO!Very gifted singer you are Mel!Ricky the fx and attention to detail is excellent. Rated for sure. Take Care AndyF :)
ok whats IDM??? Right... what to say? Your music, both MD1 and Stella is at times a challeging listen for me, but always fascinating and absorbing,,and this is no exception... firstly Mels vocs are excellent, some great effects added to them.. really well applied, that I love.. because they in no way cloud the main voc..very well done, musically the rythm is quite infectious even though it has that fragmented structure, that normally..for a rocker and a roller like me,can be difficult to get into, but this one hooked me.. and I cant fault it... enthralling stuff my friends.
Yet another that keeps you listening again and again. Wish I could do stuff like this. Twisting, turning, never dull - and inspirational. Top ending too.
plus mel really lets go on the vocals. top stuff, oh and ... love the ending !!
missed this, you must have released two stella' s in quick succesion. now this is darker than normal (which you know is good for me). yeah really like the beats on this. gotta say, think this is one of the stella's im liking the most, almost like md-1 is guesting on a stella tune !! (if you know what i mean) def fav stella tune for a while if not the best. bring the darkness at all times ricky.
Ohh nice and dark feeling - kind of underlying anger here. Every time I listen to Mel - my mouth just drops ..I just always think the same thing..where do you find the melody?Where the hell? lol..You are a genious at this - truely talented woman! And well Ricky - you are just lucky to be graced with such a vocalist LOLZ :) Just tugging ya leg Hun! ...But you must count your lucky stars huh - no one else could add to your abstract music like Mel does :) Brilliant as always you two ;) X
the wee acid is a bit more prominent, vocals seem to have some extra fx on them, some nice light freaky distortion sounds filling up the backround when the other vocals come in,the two of yous just go from strength to strength, one of the best voices on the site, lol new mad ending:)
Never cease to amaze! Always something fresh and new and bizarre! Seems it's down the same path as Hurts So Good...way outside the box! Love it! Superb percussion and soundscape! Melindas vocals really add some tension to this...like it needs more...lol! Great track with a very polished production! Enjoyed this!
This is sick people. The original was damn kewl but I actually prefer this version personally. Something about that smooth but mean background speaks volumes. That screeeeeeeeeeeeeeching in the background is nasty as f*ck! Take a bow guys cos you managed to improve on wht was already the .... as they say. Rated!
Mel sounds so much like Uta Lemper it's spooky... so's the outro hee hee. On 2nd play... her vox works with the backing (or vice versa) but wasn't sure at first. Where's the male vox sample from? Gave me a vincent price vibe (altho it isn't him) which reminded me of dear Jacko's Thriller. Prob just me. Awesome production dude and thanks for the listen. Rated
Been looking forward to a new Stella Art...er Polaris (Ricky will understand!) track. This is certainly off the wall, but intruguing in a way that conventional electronic music isn't. A bit of Trip-Hop influence, but those vocals are entirely from another world. The screaming at the end is truly chilling. Rated for originality and the trance inducing effect it has on the listener.
That intro is awesome... great bassline. Then it all gets pretty weird, but really intriguing. Mel's vox sounds like its come out of a bond theme; gorgeous stuff. Loving the spooky spoken section (and I ain't big on the spoken word in tracks in general, but that's creepy). #$%^ that end is nasty!!!! Woah, that was a shock. Just checking we were paying attention eh?? ;-) One of your best.
i really like this bro. its got a great intro , i cant even begin to imagine how you created this, sounds so fab through these earphones.. nice bline and the shuffled beats are really pleasing.. them hats are top pro. dont they ever stop dancing. panning on em is swe, left to the right in my lugs lol. just came to a drop. the speech sample is dark dude top sample.. some sweet lil bleepy noizes too lol .. sill cant getaway from mels vocal. god damn she can deliver a vocal/ tune :O) sinths are nice in this piece .. i like the ending brutal has can be :O) all in all i loved it from start to finish.. the production was superb. rated! great wok guys/galslol
Love the hi bits raping my ears with teasers :) vocals are sweet and sit perfect like bad kid on santas knee great mishmash of hidden delays on the vocals - quality excellent man. Love the polyphonic style synth int' back :)
Hey guys, i'm not a fan of this music really, but i love reviewing your work cos it's always so good. Great vox and a rate Nathalie
Ordinarily I chafe a bit when I pull up a song this long, Mel's voice kept me hangin' on every note and I forgot about the clock. Scared the crap outta me with that outro! Highly entertaining, Melinda sings like an angel and performance and production's out of this world...rated!
Waited till track was finished before commenting. Best thing you have both done, like the more meaty beaty both of you are taking now. Vocals are the best I have heard on the site. Awesome. Amazing, loved it :) Rated
Great track mate, production & vocals top quality as always. All the beats & synths & crazy noises seem to be there without overpowering themselves or the vocals.
Absolute class. It's like electronic Primus. totally whacky and off sync Alien type groove. The screaming at the end is pretty unexpected. What a magnificent piece of music. Have a rate and a nom!
love the bass work ricky and more great vocals, got loads of that trademark delay fx. just one squelch on the beat? lol. and here comes a vocal sample, sounds good, really nice work, good one.
You guys always have me stuck for words when commenting on any of your tracks. They can never be pidgeon holed and they are always out there with massive originality. Well here I go with my humble comments. Mel's voice is superb as always and really gives those massive delays a good workout. Synthwork is superb and beautifully balanced (how you do that with so many elements going is beyond my tiny little mind). Production, again faultless and of pure quality. All that's left for me to do is hit the rate button. Quality through and through. Barry
wouldnt play for me last night, love the bass, vocals with the repeat to fade fx are class, nice sounds and panning, clear as a bell as usual, bass sequence when the vocals clear is funky as fuk, small speakers dont do the vox justice,ha ha wee acid sequence at the end:)il be having a few listens to this very good, top job you two,
Took a listen to this yesterday and was struck by the way the vocals shouldn't really go with the track but do! It's really nicely mixed and the fx on Mel's vocal are well......effective! There is a good groove to the synth riff and it's a complete track.Kevin Mooney

Whenever Ricky Mancini slams a track into my review list, am torn in two different directons; flight or fight. In his MD-1 Project personna, his music is often abrasive, disconcerting and hard to get close to. There again in his collaborative effort with Melinda Mohn - the aforementioned Stella Polaris Project - his testosterone levels are somwhat calmed by, presumably, her calming prescence. T
Fourth time up for current MP3 Unsigned darlings Ricky Mancini (aka MD1-Project on the same site) and dulcet toned Melinda Mohn who collectively make up Stella Polaris Project. As it happens, I have been snowed under over the past month with CD's of all shapes and sizes, including Orphans, the latest from this duo. Regular readers will remember the impact this duo have made on me, gett
I bet that Ricky (Mancini) and Melinda (Mohn) known collectively as Stella Polaris Project are probably a bit stunned that, finally, I managed to spell their name right. Couldn't get it for the life of me until I came up with an ingenious (nay cunning) plan. I had the name tattooed on my childrens foreheads because I see them every day so I am not likely to forget. There again, m
Here's a question that's been rattling around my brain for a while; what has twenty fingers and two filthy minds? Well I don't know cos I guess I'm too old to be thinking about it, but I do know such an entity has a name - Stellar Polaris Project. This is the second track I've heard from this duo from MP3 Unsigned comprising of Ricky Mancini (aka MD-1 Project) and Melinda Mohn. A
Regular readers may have noticed that this month, for the first time in a long while, I have managed to snag some tracks from MP3 Unsigned. Digital Juggernaut was the first of these, Stelar Polaris the second. Stelar Polaris are an electronica due featuring Ricky Mancini (which should be a familiar name to long term readers) and Melinda Mohn. Not sure who does what but I gu
Thought this one was gonna be a tough one to review, but I listened to it a few more times and managed to get a handle on how I felt about the track so here goes. I suppose what first strikes you about this pairing is that it shouldn't really work. A deep soulful voice, mixed with challenging jazz/avant-garde chord progressions and whatever else they care to bring to the party. What's equally surp
For those that don't know, Stella Polaris is a collaboration that formed on this site between Ricky Mancini (MD-1 Project) and Melind Mohn (solo). Ricky the producer/nstrumentalist and Melinda the singer/ lyricist who also produces and arranges her own music. A very unique combination that I would have never paired together as he is predominately a trance music
The first thing that your reviewer encounters when embarking upon a review is, of course, the title. And today, dear reader I am faced with a track called “Orphans” and what strikes me immediately is how evocative that title is. So allow me please, a brief digression while I muse on this word. First off, it comes down to us from Greek (orphanos), via Latin (orphanus) and Middle English a
