Meeny miney money (2011 remix)
I like the groove you have on this one. I like the lyrics on this one too! I know what you mean about not having enough cash for any words I'm about to run out in a ba da ba malama ba da.
2011 remix up - hope it's alreet
Andy - I would like to do a song like this with you. Love, Rosemarie
Nice job! Love the funky beat and guitar work. It took a minute for the vocals to grow on me, but they really work for me. I really like the do-do-do's toward the end. Very original and well done. Take a rate!
Wooooooooo, bloody good this one, pudding & pie!! x x x
Very slick and pro piece of work.A very pertinent song for our times, strong lyrically and good busy arrangement containing plenty odf interesting elements.
Takin another dl for both versions. Thanks... Dan
LOUDER/NOISER VERSION NOW UP
Nice track Andy, really hooky lines and a lovely bouncy vibe throughout. Production is your forte, not mine - won't comment becuase it sounds perfect;) Enjoyable track dude, rated for bringing some funk to my otherwise unfunky day!
Like the big snare in the intro and the atmosphere you create. It definitely creates a pathway to when the vocals take over. This kind of puts me in mind of Nine Inch Nails. There is an urban edge to this soundworld. The lyrics are aspirational and yet hints at a seediness which is all too prevalent in Human Society. Everything comes together brilliantly to make a convincing statement and a fine song.
Dam this is a tight track! Very original indeed! So much going on here. Great job my friend and a rate for sure from me Take Care Eric aka bad love junkie
strange track, sounds pretty cool though, the vocal tricks are sweet. Interesting and original. All the best Steve
Love the beats - and the mix is grat conisdering that ppiccy of your studio! and you made me laugh when I read "fundamentally I think I am a songwriter" - dude - you ARE a songwriter - funKdamentally. I checked out a few of your others too - you're prolific that's for sure :) It would be fun (and an honour) to get some vox from you for a little Rakk remix if you're up for it matey. Others have and they survived :) Let me know Rakk
Nice, nice track James. I took notice the first time I heard you on UBW and glad to see you hear. This site is a pleasent sursprize to me and wish you the best of everything. -rl
This is awesome. The mix is so nice and clear and crisp...drool-worthy! You rock the vocals and the hooks are indeed plentiful. Sounds like you had a lot of fun doing this one. Very nicely done!
Glad I came by for a listen, This is fun, I love it. I'll be singing some of those hooks all week. Vin
Great posture, dear!! Enjoyed every bit of it. Couldn't help tapping my feet with the rhythm. Love the soothing ambient atmosphere in the background.....excellent work once again!! Love it. RATED! :D
Hi Andy!....good track this. Nice crisp production, very pro-sounding. And love the originality to this....very clever, and brave use of eeny meeny miney mo, along with all the other rhymes in there too! Id say this was more soul than funk tho, with that fat groove!! Really enjoyed anyway. im nomming! Mark
Apart from the fact that I hate the word funk with a passion...this is a great track...nice production, plenty of bass and some wicked beats.Really well arranged with some cool vocals. Nice one.R8ed
This is very smooth Andy and so up to date!! I get the brit feel from this too. Very ska to me, which is very cool to my ears!!Love the whole thing Andy, nothing other to say than, rated!! Barry
Great track, nice mix, very much in the Brit pop style. Drums sound great by the way. A nice change of pace for you. I even liked the ending lol. Sorry cant be very constructive, but nothing struck me as sounding 'wrong' so just listened and enjoyed the track a few times lol :)
Wow!!! This is fantastic!!! You have a great voice!! Lyrics are great! Love the whole arrangement which is very professional. This needs to be out there. Would be picked up very quickly I think! The drums are excellent and the sweeping bass is really well done. Little clip of a Kylie song in there I see!!! Made me smile!! :-)
Fantastic lyrics love how they seem to dance around with the synth melodys.I saw you rave in the forum about cubase4 and this is a perfect advert for the software.Killer sounds ,the bass warp is magic and the funk....sorry will have to say this...is on the money.A cool hint of brit pop,but very nice with your sound stamped all over it.The drums...damn those beats are great.Hellium tunage for the charts.
Love the intro. Very cool beat. Ha-ha. Love it!! Perfect for the economy. Love your accent. Damn Andy. You could sell this commercially. Da-dat-dt-du-du-du. Love that. Yea!!!!! Applause, applause. Put a smile on my face this morning. You've got it down man. This is great.
Great hook to this and brilliant to hear you doing something so funky. Very off the wall and the lyrics fit like a glove to the music. Thumbs up for the vocals too - sounds like you had some fun. ABP from us!
Andy there are often long gaps between the release of a new James Oakwood track but they're always worth the wait, especially when they're as good as this. Great lyrics. Excellent all round. Rated. Craig
"masque replica/mass requiem"...that's rich! Excellent lyric throughout, perhaps the best I've heard from you, Andy. The German and French bits were genius, and the running dialogue on running out of money so easy to relate to. Vocals sound so expressive, and you've cobbled together an accompaniment that suits the piece ideally. Great job, man, all buttons pushed!
What a fantastic song mate you "funkadelic" you! Always like your arrangements and musical styles...they just have that English flavor all through them! Great sounding synths from Cubase and the guitar is very ncie as well. Great little progression! You'll see this one up on the charts as usual...and maybe with ABP there's a good chance! Enjoyed this!
Some deep voice - was meant to say some deep bass - had a couple of scoops ...
"Who the feck is Hank Marvin anyway?" - Just thought I'd remind you of that comment! Funkin good stuff, mate. Love the drum sound. Some deep voice going on there. No, I'm not doin the locomotion. Clever interplay between lyrics and music (can't afford the rhythm - and the drums stop - nice.). Can't fault this mate, but it's still pants! ( ... joking)
You got "The Funk" for sure! great bass line and vocals and superb production. R
Movin and groovin there master James. This is a wonderful piece of imagination and talent. ABP for me. Need more of this stuff....great bass btw...:-D! Dan
I began recording songs in January 2006. Genre is rock, pop and jazz with electronica dabbles on a few toons. It's a hobby for me. I record using cubase.
Home studio using a PC, yamaha keyboard, a couple of guitars and a Rode NT1A mic. I use cubase for recording/mixing and wavelab for mastering.
A strange fact - in 1976, the term "Mega" was 1st coined by me and came into general usage as meaning something great or awesome. I was an apprentice electrician at the time and "mega" was a technical prefix meaning "a million times". I remember that all my fellow students started using the term so maybe this was down to me. Nobody hardly says it anymore so i guess it's run it's course.
Another strange fact - i designed a telephone for use in a mortuary. Dead interesting lol!!!
Nice strong melody & energy to this track, would be great for the movies.
wow i felt like i was actually at a pink floyd concert excellent tune.
James Oakwood is a new name to me from MP3 Unsigned but hey, he is a man in love with his bed obviously so he's cool by me. He's also a rock artist which, as you well know, definitely fine by me. According to his webpage, he's only been writing and recording since 2006 and features a tasty pick of all his kit (is that a Dell?); the kind of stuff you need to make rock music. Even
Wooohooo!
A refreshing track about my fave place, I love it!
Keep em comming Mr Oakwood!!
