The Climb
Sometimes smooth blissful track are required having an open mind to styles is important. This is one of those pieces that take you somewhere. The strings are very cool and the percussion was so inexpected lol.Enjoyed this cheers.
Howsie, not sure how I have missed your music on this site but given the number of wonderful artists on the site, I guess it's tough to "find" all the real special ones. Luckily, early on I found Craig Sofaly and immediately was impacted by his musical abilities, lyrics, his songs and his passion for music that gets lost on so many people IMHO. As I listen to my first, ah make that my second Howsie piece (REFUGEE being the first :-), I understand what Craig is talking about. Looking forward to listening and downloading as much as you allow I suspect. This is wonderful to say the least...Not that you need it but gotta do a "late-rate" on this one. Dan Michaelson
back for another listen - captivating in every way...completely captures a vision for me of the warrior, the mountains, the quest...it wants a third section...the prize:)
Howsie! What a lovely piece of music.Very ambient and draws the listener in. I get an oriental feel to this and see (in my mind) a Samarai warrior contemplating his life...............The sax is sublime all in all a great production piece especially when the synth comes in...rated Take Care Andy :)
Wow, it really sounds like climbing! I pictured myself flying up and seeing mountains far below with grass lands on them. Beautiful sound you have here. The strings are very pretty. They have a sense of emotion and a life force with them. The cymbals are done very nicely too. Everything sounds so clear and vibrant. Not too vibrant, though. And that sax! Wow, it amazed me at how much it added to that little part in the song. Kind of introducing the seduction of the climb as it engulfed me. That synth is a generous additive too! Real awesome sound! I like how it adds intensity to the atmosphere. Very well made melody. The ending fades away and then the people leave the auditorium. lol Well good tune you have here. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I needed to listen to something like that seeing as I was in the classical mood. Have a great day with a rating! :D
Howsie, great job painting the mountains with this piece! Very majestic sounding.. :) great track to chill to!
WOW! very uplifting music in a spiritual sort of way. Now off to check out more of your songs...... :)
I never cease to be amazed by just how good some of the music on this site is. This is superb! Rated, recommended and downloaded. - Pete Vines
i reckon with an ice hip hop beat the slow kinda creepy synth would sound real nice ya should think bout it soemtime keep up the good work mate
wow this is utterly brilliant. this says alot alot of things to me without saying anything at all and it's a powerful feeling and an amzing talent for those who can do it, i love this :) abeey x
Wow! this is just amazing! Well done! can't say anything else.. the music speaks for itself! .. you definately have a gift for telling stories through your music! Jennifer xx
Enthralling and en-THRILL-ing ! Not much of a comment, sorry, but I was far too busy listening :)
Re-visiting.. Man this is amazing :-)
holy cow this is great..rating!
Bravo! I really like how you paint your ideas with music! With this piece I can hear how masterfully you've used every instrument to convey the right motifs and ideas in this piece! I really felt like I was on that mountain!
Excellent piece of music. You've definitely captured that panoramic, on top of the mountain ranges feel. This has a very majestic and confident sound. The percussion and drums fit so good when they kick in, and that sax is perfect too. Love the ending aswell, reminds me a little of the Scarface music. Giorgio moroder i think? Faultless track, and exceptionally produced! Rated too!:) Mark
Very dramatic! Such depth. You are a creative soul aren't you! Radio time too! BRAVO! :-) Carol Sue (<--gives Howsie a halo for over the horns on this one!);)
I like the climb I was thinking to myself about two minutes in wheres the bongo drums I want bongo drums (as I listen to stuff from afro celt sound system) so I started to right my comments and then I got what I wanted it so reminds me of bands that fuse so musc into a track no wonder you had to mixdown a lot to come out with this little cracker./rated
This is an accomplished piece from you Tone M8, I know you well and can sense your frustrations at the mixing desk. I also think this has a little JMJArre soundscape style to it - I could imagine someone talking over this in sections too poetic like rather than documentary style. The builds & peaks are perfect & the intial sax intro's are so haunting the hairs on me kneck stood to attention. Personally speaking, & you know my background in dance music, I'd liked to have heard more from the beats & basslines giving the piece more ooomph, but thats just me a like a bit of ooomph now & again LOL. Take Care buddy & don't leave it so long to visit next time Hugs C ;)
Love the whole Climb thing. How it starts so chilled and as the track builds up you get the really cool synth work. Like it alot and well deserves a spot on the offical chart this week. Well done! Rainy x
I love this! its soothing...
oo i really love the strings, like REALLY love the strings, and that nice catchy beat with the bongos. I like that little touch of jazz and where the synth comes in. Also the piano bit I like how you just did that, introduce instruments for the first and only time. I figure it's a bit wierd to do that, but it seemed to work real well. This is great! Arrived of Steve's review and was well worth the listen! :D Rated and nominated!
Great composition. A touch of Jarre with that synth towards the end I thought. A varied piece telling a journey, with a big peak at the end :-)
nominated :D
yeah same as everyone else. everything fits so perfect. really nice soundscape. love the ambience within the track a deffo vison track.thumbs up quality track
Great - reviewed!
Wow great warm atmos here ! I'm a sucker for this kind of 'painting with music'. Quality production. Sounds crystal clear.
Its quite Paul Mounsey :O) But thats a good thing :D
Well Howsie Brilliant mate, Those creeping, yet dominating violins, depict and mould a fantastis melodie. This is fantastic, i think your mix is good, except a pop at the start of the track Brilliant mate, definatly was on the Himilayas
Starting from the uncomparable lightness of being that personifies your work, to the opening violins that drift and swirl. The genius is back. Very moving soundscape from the beginning sliding into the second theme with emotion and mastery of timing and class. I would love to write a song with you. Maybe one day....
try to do my best :o)
Review time again. The artist this time is Howsie, who never fails to surprise me by taking a turn in a different direction with his compositions. I’m still waiting for him to finish his superb “Fusion Experiment 1”. This go around, he asked me to take a listen to his composition, “The Climb”.
Howsie is a new MP3 Unsigned name for me, but not for members of that site's forums who know him for the chatterbox he is. By the looks of his collaborators, and the list of influences (Pat Metheny, Weather Report, Jeff Beck) Howsie is going to be well up my musical street. Certainly both Beck and Weather Report had a hefty contribution to raising my own musical sights. &nbs;
Well, second time lucky I hope! Right from the outset this track transports you off to the location in question, with the swirling violins and ambient effects literally engulfing you in fog as the journey begins. The structure of the piece is dictated by the swelling texture and dynamic content and is appropriate to the style of music. The texture is particularly effective - starting off spa
