Perfect 303 madness.Love the sync lead and 303 filtering. What a journey Andy this really pushes filtering to the max.
Andy hi - - You really have to gig this at a mentalist all-nighter - seriously you are pushing out some really good stuff - have you had your stuff aired at any clubs / festivals yet? Whatever the background to the track you have created a great piece of techno nose-bleed wonderment. Lovely. Rakk
Wow. This goes off for sure. Sounds like all the worlds machines have gone to war with each other and all we can do is stand back and watch in awe. Fave bits are the high dropping synth at 2:36 and the dropout at 3:36 with that deep growling bass synth. Awesome. Kicks all kinds of ass this. A thoroughly deserved previous No1. Rated. Craig
I miss our forums. Hope we get them back soon. In the meantime just dropping by to congratulate you on the #1 spot on the official mp3u top 20! Well done!
I was amazed earlier today, but couldnt comment for some reason (maybe server downtime). What grabbed me from the begining was the raw power and uncondtional amounts of!!!! Full out and full on power, which of course is always controlled. Pauses are sorted and sweet and add depth to the whole piece. This has total rawness Andy. An emotional journey!!! Well worth the wait!!!RATED!!! Barry
Well done on #1 spot Mr. Stokes... the baton is yours
Wow. This is an interesting track. I'm not into trance or techno, whatever this is called but it is cool. The sounds are amazing. The weapon sounds remind me of the world - or my mind wanting to lash back out at the world with all of those weapon sounds. Especially when it gets fast. Production is great. Let me suggest seeking licensing agreements with video war games.
Woah, this is really amazing, so many layers and so much going on, but in perfect concert, doesn't seem too much at any point, I can definitely appreciate that this must have been a monster to complete. I don't know much about this kind of music, but that doesn't mean I can't be impressed. I think this is a really powerful piece and very well constructed!
sound explosion!! music from every direction, boldy going where my headphones have never gone before. Awesome stuff mate :D Deborah Ivri
OK - here goes with a huge Andy-style review - oh what the hell, it's all been said and suffice to say this is a hell of a piece of work. Frenetic is a good word. Kick ass is another two good ones. Great breakdown as has been said. I'm gonna need to lie down in a dark room after this. Really nasty in a good way of course. Rated.
Frenetic, and totally energetic with a touch of sheer chaos...wow!! very powerful stuff! R
3:40! And then some!! Can't add much in the way of intelligent commentary (sorry, way, way out of my genre!) but I know kick ass when I hear it, and my ears just got their ass kicked! Great work, Andy, enjoyed my listen.
smack, yeah! i have no idea how you come up with those 303 lines, they sound friggin awesome! nice ride, Andy, nice and hard. it's funny how i have started reading up on the universe quite a bit lately, and you, out of the blue, come up with a background tune for my reading ;) love that short drop at 3:34! everything sounds nicely balanced on my end. top tune!
The 303 line reminds me "Death to the prodigy dancer" from rodigy's first cd experience. There is a really awesome sound that I cant even describe at the 140ish mark. really cool filtering work there. I feel like you are a real inspiration with how you produce pretty killer tracks with your disability. take a rate and a nom bud
Oh god...! I love this song! I can totally hear this in an updated Mortal Kombat (totally a compliment, btw). Excellent production and great synths. Kudos! :) -Phenom
"This won't be on the scale of Andy's comments, but i will try" The start Andy,is a slow build.....like "get ready to kick butt" the arrangement of this piece must of given you some sleepless nights(very complex)sound upon sound very well thought out.You said you was poorly....i would after making this VEIN POPPIN TUNE :) What caught my ear at the start was the kick,it comes in and then bam its gone to lead us into the claps.Simply things like that are cool,i may have just left then going, this is what i was on about before the arrangement. The snare also was a suprise not overly drum machine, more real sounding snare(nice weight to it)helped with the mix.The levels are very nice, maybe a tad more on the hats but im sure you would have tried that and dismissed! Drum programming was sweet bud, nice rolls and fills and cymbal splashes.....that cymbal gets a right pasting from "cymbalrage" thats it! Your sounds at 2.35 the screaming 303 is awesome really well sculptured sound Andy,i think that got more bruises than the cymbal come to think of it.The filtering on the 303's got some heavy automation workout, like you said Andy Techno is a complex beast might not be be everybody's cup of tea but futuristic filtering sounds are required and you have not let us down on this one..example-- 3.35 reverb drop :0 At the later stages the distortion used is so good with the 303's screaming at each other, again a lot of work has gone into this and that's why i think you deserve this little comment! Well done Andy,i think its your best to date.Cheers for the D/L.
i could see me rippin this up peace
Hey Andy, this is the type of techno I like - angry and full of dark energy! Real heavy track this one, loving the distorted ear piercing tones - real nasty;-) Thsi ones kicks ass Andy, rated for sure.
Thank you very much for discovering my oversight, MD-1 and MoonTurnedBlue. I guess everybody makes mistakes and I'm lucky I had you guys to catch it. I fixed it and it sounds much better. Thank you! And thank you everybody else for listening. Sorry to post in here. Just letting everyone know it's been edited and fixed.
For some reason this is the first time I have listened to your tunes - apologies for that oversight. This tune has murder written all over it. It is always trying to knock down walls with a vicious, incessant energy. If LSD could write music - this is what it would sound like! Agree with MD-1 regarding the kick -it should be your most potent weapon in a track of this nature. I like the choice of sounds though - this is techno which is a law unto itself and I like that. The intensity you create is irresistable.
Not one for techno generally but this is different man. I like the way it speeds up and the effects/voices are fantastic dude. OK it's getting a tad monotonous at 3min15 but hey it's changed again so not much to complain about. I think what sets this apart (to my very uneducated techno ears) is the profoundly powerful riffs that almost speak to the listener. It conjured up a musical version of atomic elements forming and splitting into other particles. Hey that's my story and i'm sticking to it!! Maybe that's how the medicine you take worked lol. rated dude
Man your showing off with this one, easily your best tune for my money. Killer synths, filthy 303's and nasty resonance which builds nicely. Like how you have kept the frequencies in check cos there are a lot of 303's bouncing around but little in the way of clashes. I would naturally want some kind of pad/string to help break up the acid at times but just a personal preference. Top drawer Andy.
It's funny you should call this fight music... it reminded me of the track "Control" from Traci Lords that they used in the first Mortal Kombat movie. Both that and this are really aggressive tunes. Good job. Lots of squelchy automation and tweaking. I love that. Well Done Andy. (hope you're feeling better)
cool stuff dude...love the 303 :) builds up nice and soild bass also sounds good here...what I do think needs sorting is the kick...its either the compression settings on release or an out off time loop...the kick has a thud sound like as if there are 2 kicks but one is slightly behind the other giving of a slight missed time sound...would be annoying to use as a Dj because most DJs want a clean sounding kick where they blend perfectly with the next tracks kick...however I feel that wouldn't be the case with this because with out it even been mixed in to another track the kick don't punch right..other than this quality stuff thumbs up
I think this is a masterpiece of its genre, Utter chaos but finely controlled and restrained, all the changes come completely natural and the mix is big, strong. Fine effort.and i normally hate techno!
I have no concerns over music that lets rip, I'm a great fan of it myself. Your sounds have obviously been carefully chosen and they hit the spot. At times I wished the tempo was a little faster, and maybe some more OTT lead synth lines. Nice trip.
I agree... that's some major brutality here, and the bass sounds fine on my end aswell! If I was gonna change anything, I'd have the lead synths change their patterns a bit more! Crazy stuff anyhoo, and I'm adding this to my mp3 player as I type!
Dude, that's nasty! I'm not a techno/electro fan generally, but this is getting downloaded and bunged on in my car. Top-notch roadrage track, ha ha ha. I think that the best genre to encase this one would be Manic. There ye go, a whole new genre just for Andy. In all honesty though, I cannot possibly comment on the production as I'm unsure how this music is put together, but that is pretty seriously screwed up and appeals to me on a neanderthal level. The bleeps and bloops are splendid. Particularly good showing of yourself here. Noises are fun :) Tommy
Builds up fast and sharp. I like the production and the bass as it is, I think it fits perfectly with the song. I really dig that mean sustained saw that enters with the snares. Pure adrenaline, and very liberating too. Top notch quality
Some brutal weapons in here Andy...I'd like to think they were on my side;) Lots goin' on,sounds very intricate, great attention to detail and an almost overpowering energy...yes...brutal.Inspired!! Took a DL,cheers:)R8ed
Well, I started getting even more sick on Monday when my blood sugar counts would NOT balance no matter what. Since then I have not recooperated and am not doing well at all. This is not a complaint. It's a form of information telling those who are interested in my status. It's not good. Drs are running around with confused faces on their heads wondering, "What went wrong? We were doing so good!"Nobody knows what is happening to me. A 33 year old with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy is considered impossible or a miracle. I'm leaning towards a living miracle. I've fought for so long with this. I'm starting to wonder what for? I look at the children who didn't choose the treatment option: Steroids. Now I see children at the age of 16 dying of heart failure wondering, "Why wasn't that me?" So young. So early. I fight so that people can see treatment options WORK! But they're terrible on the system.I've lived with steroids/prednisone for my entire life. With asthma. With infections. With sickness. Prednisone was always the answer and still is. I may not be able to lift a single pound. But I'm one of the strongest men you'll find. I fight because I want to be stronger. I fight so that I can prove people wrong. I fight so I can make music. I fight for my wife to see me live another day. But I'm getting tired. My eyes are as heavy as my arms. They're slowly shutting. And I'm almost ready to go to sleep...
Yes, it's been a little bit known that I've been working on some tunes for a while and I haven't released anything for almost a year. I've been up and down in the health department so that distracts me. It's no excuse but I have been working on mainly just material. There is a couple songs in my library of "unfinishedness" that have some of these elements I've been working on in them.Mostly, it's been experimenting lately. Lots of reading, lots of education, lots of keeping up with the new technology while retaining the techniques of the old.Analog synthesizers are going for cheap these days and now is the best time to get your hands on one. DON'T WAIST TIME! Even if you can spend 10 minutes a day reading an article about anything music. Even if it means reading about something totally new to you. Ideas and motivation come from the oddest places. Keep an ear out! Andy
I would like to apologize about not being able to post lately. I know I have a review to finish. Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish it until I have recuperated. As most know, I have a lot of health problems and am bound to a motorized wheelchair along with being home bound and unable to leave my home as my body is extremely sensitive. What is happening is my pain level sky rocketed and Dr.s are thinking my Muscular Dystrophy is hitting near the final stage mark of the muscles becoming separated from the bones and the tendons begin separating from the muscles. Kind of like being torn apart from the inside. Hahaha! Well... It makes for good pain visions if you're into those sort of things. Anyway. I'll be undergoing some tests and may get a morphine drip. Or a nerve blocker installed into my body (I don't know where they implant them). Whatever action, they're on top of things so I'm sure I'll be back commenting and reviewing good as new fairly soon. I'm getting frustrated about having to become sick again every time I come back. I'll just have to keep coming back. Right? THAT'S RIGHT! I hope all are good and doing well. I miss you guys a lot and I'll be using my wife's laptop to make music. I'll be in bed for a bit but I'll make it out. I will. Ciao! Andy Stokes
So my journey to myself continues while I keep tapering down my pills dose by dose. Almost there. 2 months, max, I'd say. Been messing around with my gear a lot lately. For some reason it gets my mind off the trickery the withdrawal brings to my mind. I stay alert in the world of being sane and grow closer to the end of my descent like a plant foresting it's roots to the center of it's nutrients. It's all good in the neighborhood. The ideas are flowing. The video games are being played. Tomorrow I seek a movie. I'm tired of staying home with my misery. I'm going out no matter how bad the pain is. This motorized wheelchair doesn't stop me from achieving my goals. I've made many songs in my days and intend on making more. I'll have something nice for the acid freaks when I begin to comment again. You'll have something in return. I promise this. Have a great day and thanks for reading. Everybody have a great day! Andy Stokes
Even though I don't really have anything else better to do but sit around with my wife all day long and play video games and make music, I've been spending some quality time with movies lately. I've been catching up on some of em'. 30 Days of night or whatever it's called was pretty good. That was one of them.I've been working on music here and there and everywhere. I suffered a bad break with having going through pain management due to my pain from having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. That set me back in my music area quite a bit but now that I'm feeling better, I've been working on some new stuff. An ambient song, a groove song, and a techno song. Been messing around with Essences' voice a bit too so I can practice and delve into the vocal world. I'm thinking a break beat song would be good for the sample she graciously handed out. I'm not very good at it! hahahaha! I'm an honest person and that's the truth!Well for all of you that actually read this, thank you for your interest. Hopefully you'll be seeing another good track from me soon! Have a great day everybody and enjoy the spring!
I've been working to perfect some old songs of mine to make them sound better and more fuller. I've added a couple new ones and have more. I just need to pay my space for more songs :D When funds become available, I'll be sure to add them as soon as possible. Hope you all have a great day and thank you for reading this!
Hi. Each month I'll be adding another MP3 slot so keep on the look-out for more of my songs. Andy
Considering that, of all the genres, techno is my main hate figure, Andy Stokes got away prettty lightly when I reviewed the very first track from him. Dance Floor Confusion escaped the Gilmore scalpel by dint of the fact that the track was more dance than techno, at least in my opinion. It worked very well through a big sound system and that's the main thing with music of this type; l
Aceeed!! Damn, those were the days huh? Like many of us, I went through a dance phase, going out almost every night and dancing my socks off - usually more off my face than on it if you get my drift. I was getting a little long in the tooth when the rave scene exploded although I did, generally, get into the musical side of it. However, that was a long time ago now and musi
The title? Don't ask me, I haven't got a clue. Andy Stokes is a new name to me from PM3 Unsigned. He's a techno musician from the US, and his story sounds very familiar. Came into music through Playstation's Music program (it's either that, Ejay or Magix innit?), then turned to Fruity Studio (also my own production tool of choice) because of the limitations inherent in instant mu
