Cool techy sounds in the intro and loving that lead synth and the melody to it, the accompanying sound at 1:36 sounds great too! Impressive build with the roll, I'm not too keen on the techy sound after this tho, the new lead would sound ok on its own but again not sure it works with the techy lead. My advice would be to change that techy part after the build. Couple of other suggestions, give the percs a little bit of variation, as well as the main melody. I really like that main melody, but unless I'm mistaken it does repeat itself, try maybe adding a slight variation to it. hope the suggestions help, enjoyed the listen :)
Nice energetic track with a sprinkling of trance.Great build ups and cool synth sounds...sweet! Man is the only animal for whom his own existence is a problem which he has to solve;)
Back for another listen Andy, the more i hear it more sounds seem to pop up.The portamento double lead near the start is programmed well. And towards the end it seems like there is a world record for the most energy a tune can have in 12 bars.Ive got a big grin on my face listening to this again.Top Bannana.
A beautiful ode to the possibility of all that life can be. You set the tone, you create the vibration. Its all up to you on how you weave the tapestry of lifes reality. There is no end to the possibility of what you can achieve. Beautiful words and a very very fun piece of work, as it should be. Life should be fun! Its what you focus on that makes it that way.
I too do not visit this genre too often but this has a real bite and some great tones. Shifts constantly to keep the listener engaged. Congrats
Don't know my way around this genre Andy but it all sounds very well constructed and builds up to a very energetic stomper! Enjoyed this!
That opening acid line is so sweet and the second line that comes in with the portamento really compliments it well. Its got that great combination of being melodic and banging! breakdown is nice, with the lower end synth fading in and a great build. gets quite trancey towards the end with the addition of another synth which I like. Excellent track and congrats on the No.1 spot! Well deserved. Rated :-)
woooowzers nice acids and bangin hard kick, like the nice high sequences, has nice melody. track has a awesome build up, with melodies and percussion that gradually add in as the track progresses. breakdown is amazing man, that string synth is awesome, progressions in this track are well thought out with excellent structuring. a bit of hard trance leads come in and really lift the track off, finally after bout 4 mins the breakdown occurs and track leads into its ending, wonderful track Andy, i luved it so many little details added to pay attention to in this track~ purely enjoyed! =) Matt
Great piece Andy
in my ears, this is your best Andy, absolutely love it, so glad u went little melodic on us. great synth work and production as well. strong, very strong and pumping like crazy. this will be great for the car, cranked up all the way! nice one and thx for the dload!
To start with Andy the kick is just right at my end,and you have gone for a strong melody. The 2.20 mark a underpinning low tone coming thru nicely done ther bud.Oh its the Stokes snares/kicks now,top job how you have raised the level even though still the same melody. There is many riffs in this but still cutting thru, and the icing the cake a bit of 303 love the distortion level on that riff.Had my son spinning in a daze to this, lots of energy in this cracker.Enjoyed.
Thoroughly enjoyed my listen! Vibrant, bouncy, joyful even to the end where I had this slightly disturbing impression of hospital monitoring equipment winding down. Wouldn't begin to comment on the technical aspects of this, subjectively speaking this is one ride I would't want to miss...
Great to see you up and running again Andy and what a memorable track this is! We will leave the technical side to those in the know, but sounds awesome to us. Def Rate!
This track is truly inspirational. Well it inspired me anyway :D I really am loving the vibes of this track. I think it was Dimebag who said "if you're not trying to make the best song in the world stop trying"...Keep it up mate! If you ever want to collab let me know. Regards DG
Noice mate! loved that back-up synth that comes in at 27 secs...reminded me of ATB (which took me back lol) I also think the kick needs some sidechaining and some lovely hats/percs would help this stomp more Acids are always a winner in my eyes!
Powerful stuff indeed. Love the way it ends too. Thumbs up.
great sound andy, pretty clueless in this genre but a real full sound to these untrained ears... ah, the meaing of existence, now there's a subject close to my heart. "I am that I am!"
Straight in there with your trademark acid sounds - I think that kick is quote wholesome actully and serves its purpose nicely. Ok so here comes a nice lead with what sounds like nice bit of porto to give that nice slidey sound and there we go with some nice filtering on the acid. Oh very nice orchestral additions to the lead, I really love that sound. Part of me is wanting a lower bass sound right at the bottom end to help that frequency range out a little bit but it is not essential. Into a cracking building up with all the whistels and bells. Wow that is a crazy main section there and I like how you squeeze another synth in for good measure. Another thing I would like is a small vocal addition, I always think a tune like this needs a very small vocal theme to consdolidate the all the instruments and push along the repetition (which is essential of course.) I am thinking of a vocal along the lines of (wait for it) higher state of conciouseness, really mangled up etc. :p Ok well we are all producer around here so we have our own ideas about things but all in all your ideas sound fantastic on this little number - very nice production standards and lovely use of acid (as always) - gets top marks from me. All the best dude. G.
Hi Andy! I am not experienced in this genre to pass technical comment but I know when I like the sound of something. This is packed with energy and certainly had me shifting in my seat.I wonder what it would sound like with a female vocalist? Excellent work my friend! Easy rate indeed. Take Care Andy :)
That is one singing 303 sound bud. Lovely melody with that searing lead!!! It took me on the journey you wanted me to go through, Existence!!!! It's a happy bubbly piece Andy with a great deal of energy! It's a little lacking in the perc area but thats a real easy fix for you I am sure;) Other than that, this track is cool as ICE!!! RATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Barry
nice to hear a new track from yourself:)starts of with a nice ripping 303 bassline, love that string type porta lead, nice bit of progression with the acid cut offs already, more layers of strings now and an ahh pad backing them up,noice build drops in well, great wee track your best to date fro me anyways, top marks for the build and lead, good stuff
nice 2 hear the tb bassline :) great filter work on it by the way...solid kick...nice round sound suits the track...really nice synth choices...some really nice snare rolls :) its a happy number bro...got the freeform/happy hardcore vibe from the 90's :) mellow but bouncy @ the same time...think its missing some percussion...its minimal in that department...think a bit more percussion would lift it make it a stomper rather than a plodder...i like plodders...just never want the night to finish...its something i would exect to be played right @ the end...its a bit more trance than i would imagine :) but hey i liked :) thumbs up bro
Love it - this is an area I plan to get into, but maybe adding acoustic and electric guitars. Some great synth work there without being over the top. Thanks for the mini-review - I agree the reverb too high. Will correct. Back to your track: Wow I love that scratchy bass synth sound. Listening to this, you KNOW you exist! btw I lived in Iowa for a year - not too far from you.
"The way I see things, the way I see life, I see it as a struggle. And there's a great deal of reward I have gained coming to that understanding -- that existence is a struggle...."-Harvey Keitel. Great track Mr Stokes. What i would class as an 'end-of-a great-night-out-isn't-it-great-being-alive-in-the-here-and-now' kinda tune, making one smile from the inside out. Had our daughter doin' the jockey dance to it too. :)
wow Andy... that was cool as buddy! some very cool synths you've come up with! and especially after the drop at the midway point it really piles on the variation... the mix sounds good to me... maybe a touch more kick, but i'm listening on my cheaper headphones so it might be me.... on the ending, I might have faded the main bline a little quicker and let that etheral sound carry it out and beyond but it's very cool just as it sits now! fine job sir! rated and all that!
Well, I started getting even more sick on Monday when my blood sugar counts would NOT balance no matter what. Since then I have not recooperated and am not doing well at all. This is not a complaint. It's a form of information telling those who are interested in my status. It's not good. Drs are running around with confused faces on their heads wondering, "What went wrong? We were doing so good!"Nobody knows what is happening to me. A 33 year old with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy is considered impossible or a miracle. I'm leaning towards a living miracle. I've fought for so long with this. I'm starting to wonder what for? I look at the children who didn't choose the treatment option: Steroids. Now I see children at the age of 16 dying of heart failure wondering, "Why wasn't that me?" So young. So early. I fight so that people can see treatment options WORK! But they're terrible on the system.I've lived with steroids/prednisone for my entire life. With asthma. With infections. With sickness. Prednisone was always the answer and still is. I may not be able to lift a single pound. But I'm one of the strongest men you'll find. I fight because I want to be stronger. I fight so that I can prove people wrong. I fight so I can make music. I fight for my wife to see me live another day. But I'm getting tired. My eyes are as heavy as my arms. They're slowly shutting. And I'm almost ready to go to sleep...
Yes, it's been a little bit known that I've been working on some tunes for a while and I haven't released anything for almost a year. I've been up and down in the health department so that distracts me. It's no excuse but I have been working on mainly just material. There is a couple songs in my library of "unfinishedness" that have some of these elements I've been working on in them.Mostly, it's been experimenting lately. Lots of reading, lots of education, lots of keeping up with the new technology while retaining the techniques of the old.Analog synthesizers are going for cheap these days and now is the best time to get your hands on one. DON'T WAIST TIME! Even if you can spend 10 minutes a day reading an article about anything music. Even if it means reading about something totally new to you. Ideas and motivation come from the oddest places. Keep an ear out! Andy
I would like to apologize about not being able to post lately. I know I have a review to finish. Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish it until I have recuperated. As most know, I have a lot of health problems and am bound to a motorized wheelchair along with being home bound and unable to leave my home as my body is extremely sensitive. What is happening is my pain level sky rocketed and Dr.s are thinking my Muscular Dystrophy is hitting near the final stage mark of the muscles becoming separated from the bones and the tendons begin separating from the muscles. Kind of like being torn apart from the inside. Hahaha! Well... It makes for good pain visions if you're into those sort of things. Anyway. I'll be undergoing some tests and may get a morphine drip. Or a nerve blocker installed into my body (I don't know where they implant them). Whatever action, they're on top of things so I'm sure I'll be back commenting and reviewing good as new fairly soon. I'm getting frustrated about having to become sick again every time I come back. I'll just have to keep coming back. Right? THAT'S RIGHT! I hope all are good and doing well. I miss you guys a lot and I'll be using my wife's laptop to make music. I'll be in bed for a bit but I'll make it out. I will. Ciao! Andy Stokes
So my journey to myself continues while I keep tapering down my pills dose by dose. Almost there. 2 months, max, I'd say. Been messing around with my gear a lot lately. For some reason it gets my mind off the trickery the withdrawal brings to my mind. I stay alert in the world of being sane and grow closer to the end of my descent like a plant foresting it's roots to the center of it's nutrients. It's all good in the neighborhood. The ideas are flowing. The video games are being played. Tomorrow I seek a movie. I'm tired of staying home with my misery. I'm going out no matter how bad the pain is. This motorized wheelchair doesn't stop me from achieving my goals. I've made many songs in my days and intend on making more. I'll have something nice for the acid freaks when I begin to comment again. You'll have something in return. I promise this. Have a great day and thanks for reading. Everybody have a great day! Andy Stokes
Even though I don't really have anything else better to do but sit around with my wife all day long and play video games and make music, I've been spending some quality time with movies lately. I've been catching up on some of em'. 30 Days of night or whatever it's called was pretty good. That was one of them.I've been working on music here and there and everywhere. I suffered a bad break with having going through pain management due to my pain from having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. That set me back in my music area quite a bit but now that I'm feeling better, I've been working on some new stuff. An ambient song, a groove song, and a techno song. Been messing around with Essences' voice a bit too so I can practice and delve into the vocal world. I'm thinking a break beat song would be good for the sample she graciously handed out. I'm not very good at it! hahahaha! I'm an honest person and that's the truth!Well for all of you that actually read this, thank you for your interest. Hopefully you'll be seeing another good track from me soon! Have a great day everybody and enjoy the spring!
I've been working to perfect some old songs of mine to make them sound better and more fuller. I've added a couple new ones and have more. I just need to pay my space for more songs :D When funds become available, I'll be sure to add them as soon as possible. Hope you all have a great day and thank you for reading this!
Hi. Each month I'll be adding another MP3 slot so keep on the look-out for more of my songs. Andy
Considering that, of all the genres, techno is my main hate figure, Andy Stokes got away prettty lightly when I reviewed the very first track from him. Dance Floor Confusion escaped the Gilmore scalpel by dint of the fact that the track was more dance than techno, at least in my opinion. It worked very well through a big sound system and that's the main thing with music of this type; l
Aceeed!! Damn, those were the days huh? Like many of us, I went through a dance phase, going out almost every night and dancing my socks off - usually more off my face than on it if you get my drift. I was getting a little long in the tooth when the rave scene exploded although I did, generally, get into the musical side of it. However, that was a long time ago now and musi
The title? Don't ask me, I haven't got a clue. Andy Stokes is a new name to me from PM3 Unsigned. He's a techno musician from the US, and his story sounds very familiar. Came into music through Playstation's Music program (it's either that, Ejay or Magix innit?), then turned to Fruity Studio (also my own production tool of choice) because of the limitations inherent in instant mu
