deep and dark tones...a journey into the soul...beautiful voice !
Wow what a voice, beautiful and mesmorising. Musical brilliance also very much enjoyed listening to this great work to both of you. Superb track. Peace Paul :)
Cruising through the site and found this one. Another terrific track/song. Sure wish I had more time to spend listening to everyone's music. But at least I find great new music thanks to artists like you guys. R
absolutely fantastic electronica, awesome.
Beautiful Rich velvet voice!! I'm well impressed, this is lovely, very melodic and "sprirtual". Again I adored the harmonies, very pleasing to the ear.
Listened to this on the radio stream here on mp3unsigned! wicked percussion through this song! And Melindas vocals are spot on! Great song ...glad I came across it!
Best thing you've done, vocals are really great, but that instrumentation is amazing, there's a bubbling marimba/bell/plucked sound that bubbles away underneath that is pure genius. Astounding :)
Very very nice slightly massive attack
How come i aint heard this one. Once again ricky's twisted beats and rythmes compliments Mel twisted and haunting vox... welll done steve
Like the the very loose abstract feel to this piece...Solid production.
another cracker
Hi, Interesting track and clean as clean can be soundwise. Has a definite jazz feel to it. Abstract and traditional simultaneously. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie
class song and very well deserved number one slot in the charts..the production is pure class rick and the vox is chrystal clear...its got that enya.sinead o connor, toyah wilcox, abstract musical direction about it. rated
Big well done on the #1 slot u 2!....Quality track, and deserving of top spot. Very slick production, and great performances. Mels vocals are very captivating and draw you right into the song. A very good listen, and a top draw song! Thumbs up both of you! Rated, Mark:)
Why are you guys not signed ?? This is excellent - I like the way the beats are slightly offset against each other it keeps the listener locked into the beat and the vocals stay separate - great technique. Well done on the top slot Mel and Ricky.
Excellent piece of music guys, very sureal. This deserves top spot! xxx
Lovely Jubbly :) Not much else to say lol...Excellent :)Bjork with more class ;p xx
Rhys wrote: 'mels are huge aswel'. Er? Has he seen a special artists gallery then? Hehehehehehe, Seriously, this is nothing short of a masterwork. Everything blends so well. Bet tis is a charter!!
Back once again...and it still sounds top notch, maybe a little clearer tho? -listening on speakers this time and it seems to sound better that way...
Yep I have to agree with some of other comments here... I think this one of the best yet as well from you 2, vocals are much clearer on this one, not so much reverb which I think is better personally, it's got that mix of jazz and superb electronica that you 2 have managed to blend so well... and it works. This is excellent, cant fault this my friends.. buttons pushed.
fecking amazing. that percussion is soooo kewl, the crystal clear and clean distortion sounds, harmonics, so complex and with at attention to detal. mels are huge aswel, really top performance you two.
Right on Mel and Ricky. I think also I like this one the best. Mel those seducing vocals and harmonies are the kicker. R&N; Dan
Quality yet again. Is that an electric drill you've sampled, btw?! Sound to me like you've eased up on the effects on the vox on this one too, which works much better for me. A beautiful and edgy track.
Why aint you two famous yet? Brilliant. I feel a little Kate bush in ( of whom I am a great fan of) here? Mel, you have a wonderful and versitile voice. Good luck to you both! Baz
Wow! On second listen, this is the best so far I think, it's really different. Mel's vocals sound fab as usual, lovely harmonies. Great use of percussion aswell, I like this one...it reminds me a bit of Enya...calming,great track, gets my vote :)
Hi Ricky/Mel This has to be one of your best tracks to date. Mel's vocals are really clear and the backing shouldn't but DOES work! It has quality written right through it and this collab is going from strength to strength. Rated and nommed! Excellent work. Andy :)
Listened to it yesterday and thought it needs to grow on me. Back today and it sure has. Very subtle touches on the backing and great melodies from melinda's voice. I'm getting a Kate Bush thing - not exactly her voice but the way she kinda projects - not sure I can put it in words. Rated dudes
Good god.. this almost shouldn't work, but its magic. Beautiful and soulful, with a nice touch of underlying dissonance which really grows on you. You've produced the best music on this site the past few months by far, pushing the boundaries of perfect.. gorgeous voice too.. I'm jealous !! Rate & Nom :)
Haven't listened to much on this site yet but i've gotta say this is one of the best i've heard this far...she's got a lovely voice...soulful and melodic...warm and sexy...mhhh...a touch of the Barbra Streisand's about her (not ment as an insult)...the vox have been well recorded and mixed with intelligent use of verb/delay...good work. Overall the production is pro with a nice low end and a good use of the stereospace...the glitchy beats and slightly off-key melodies work as a counterpoint to the vox...takes the tune into a totally different place but it works...i'll just go and press the rated button x
Like the rolling piano and that distorted buzzt thingy-majig!lol. Another great vocal and lyrics that fit the theme. The mix seemes central for a reason...listening on h-phones it nests in the central mind region - I enjoyed it though :)
The clue is in the title of the track here. A Dragonfly is an impossible creature almost mythical. They have a huge almost epic wingspan and gorgeous multi-faceted eyes. They shimmer in the sunlight and move at a graceful sedate pace. This track has captured everything the Dragonfly represents to me. The only mystery left is how Stella Polaris is going to top this one...............rated.
Absolute quality you two, brilliant music, and wonderful vocals. I agree with below, this is def one of you best collabs. Love contrasting sounds which work out so well, and the vocals bring them all together. In the styling of the track, this actually makes me think of some of Happy Rhodes stuff from here. Can't believe you are on track 8 already!! again, well done the both of you. ONAGER
Woah those vocals! A wierd backing track which gives the song a unique edge. Very unique and very original sounding stuff -well done!
I hesitate to use the word flawless, ever, but this is outstanding, the vocals are divine, the rhythms are intriguing and entrancing. 9/10 cos I'm a sniper wannabe :)
Compliments to Melinda on writing the lyrics for this, very nice! And your vocal performance once again proves fantastic! The harmonies so very sweet! Ricky once again dished out a beauty with the music and production! Together a very tastey combo! Congratulations to the both of you! :)
Top toon geezer! as you know :-) rated!
Sorry, not D/Led... rated and nominated! Silly me!
Those beats couldn't be more cool even if you placed them in the fridge! Great vocals, but could be a tad more clearer! Can't decide if I like the muffledness of the piano (would like to hear it clearer, just so I could do an A/B comparison)! D/Led anyhoo! Great work, you two... and this is my new favourite from the Stella Polaris Project!
Beautiful song u two, my new fav track .Well done
This has to be one your BEST works for sure, or perhaps it would be more apt to say you redefine your own high standards. Mel, your voice is just sooooooo beautiful here I want to give you a big hug and say I love you! Music is outstanding and I am most impressed with the way the whole mix is done.
Geez man. This is awesome. I LOVE the beat and for some reason it just works out wonderfully!! And Mel you're singing is getting better and better every time I hear you!! :D The piano is great as well!! Seriously, you two make a great combination. You're like a pipe and a crepe. lol You two keep up the already amazingly awesome music (how do you like that alliteration? lol). Looking forward to hearing some more tracks!! Rating and nom! :D
Enjoyed this - I'd love to fit some bass into this but I guess that would take it out of he genre - still I suppose thats a marker for good track. You two work really well together - (turning green now!) - well done - jon.
I've been looking forward to hearing this, I really liked the Instrumental version and didn't see the need for vox but now they are there I can't imagine it without them lol. Wonderful
kool synth sounds bro.. beautiful vocals carry this for me .. drums are quality and im loving the rain drop arp .. piano is so bliss to me ears.. .. well done indeed! rated!!!!
Sorry again! Cant stop myself half the time! hahaha
Well first off love the muffled and bass blowing beats! lol Some nice noises in this too like that scraping sounds, i think its like a distorted shaker or something but it strangely nice! lol Well the piano is top notch and is it Mel that does the piano parts? Its a very interesting progression also, and i dont mean that like its strange it is kinda unusual but also very nice and rather catchy! Ok Mels voice, what can i say really that hasnt already been said or ive said. Just pure unadulterated talent! You have a very warm and comforting feel to your voice Mel! Nice Pizzi part too, adds a nice new layer to the track especially when the drums and perc picks up again and it goes up and down octaves. Kinda has an 80's feel to it with the pizzi and the little arp-like sequence in the background, not to mention the drum machine like drums and perc! lol Well number 8 already and they are getting ever more complex and styled with every track you bring out! This is no exception! Anyways really like this track alot and it might be on par with Private Road but i dunno maybe i will have a few more listen thru the week to see how it settles into my head! lol Best of luck with it you two! Marty
Quality mate, have already said as you know, Mels voice is delicious and sits perfectly in the track, beautiful synth sounds almost sound like raindrops, very clever stuff mate and the production is awesome...top of the charts next week I predict. A big thumbs up from me you two :)
precussion and those progressions on the piano are great. feck, i think this is another fav from stella polaris. Mel's vox are bril, sound perefecto. got no suggestions or crit, sorry, all top production to my ears. no downlodo? tut tut. (: another slice of quality you guys!
Vocal is very nice as is piano and the interesting perc.......the pizz that comes in is also nice. Harmonies are top drawer. Kevin Mooney
sweet contrast between the guitar and the piano. Mel's soothing voice suits the track really well. Nice lyrics too! I like how a more electronia feel enter around 1:40. nice ambient stuff goin on too. Another track to hit the charts again. Rated! Matt

Whenever Ricky Mancini slams a track into my review list, am torn in two different directons; flight or fight. In his MD-1 Project personna, his music is often abrasive, disconcerting and hard to get close to. There again in his collaborative effort with Melinda Mohn - the aforementioned Stella Polaris Project - his testosterone levels are somwhat calmed by, presumably, her calming prescence. T
Fourth time up for current MP3 Unsigned darlings Ricky Mancini (aka MD1-Project on the same site) and dulcet toned Melinda Mohn who collectively make up Stella Polaris Project. As it happens, I have been snowed under over the past month with CD's of all shapes and sizes, including Orphans, the latest from this duo. Regular readers will remember the impact this duo have made on me, gett
I bet that Ricky (Mancini) and Melinda (Mohn) known collectively as Stella Polaris Project are probably a bit stunned that, finally, I managed to spell their name right. Couldn't get it for the life of me until I came up with an ingenious (nay cunning) plan. I had the name tattooed on my childrens foreheads because I see them every day so I am not likely to forget. There again, m
Here's a question that's been rattling around my brain for a while; what has twenty fingers and two filthy minds? Well I don't know cos I guess I'm too old to be thinking about it, but I do know such an entity has a name - Stellar Polaris Project. This is the second track I've heard from this duo from MP3 Unsigned comprising of Ricky Mancini (aka MD-1 Project) and Melinda Mohn. A
Regular readers may have noticed that this month, for the first time in a long while, I have managed to snag some tracks from MP3 Unsigned. Digital Juggernaut was the first of these, Stelar Polaris the second. Stelar Polaris are an electronica due featuring Ricky Mancini (which should be a familiar name to long term readers) and Melinda Mohn. Not sure who does what but I gu
Thought this one was gonna be a tough one to review, but I listened to it a few more times and managed to get a handle on how I felt about the track so here goes. I suppose what first strikes you about this pairing is that it shouldn't really work. A deep soulful voice, mixed with challenging jazz/avant-garde chord progressions and whatever else they care to bring to the party. What's equally surp
For those that don't know, Stella Polaris is a collaboration that formed on this site between Ricky Mancini (MD-1 Project) and Melind Mohn (solo). Ricky the producer/nstrumentalist and Melinda the singer/ lyricist who also produces and arranges her own music. A very unique combination that I would have never paired together as he is predominately a trance music
The first thing that your reviewer encounters when embarking upon a review is, of course, the title. And today, dear reader I am faced with a track called “Orphans” and what strikes me immediately is how evocative that title is. So allow me please, a brief digression while I muse on this word. First off, it comes down to us from Greek (orphanos), via Latin (orphanus) and Middle English a
