Crushed to Dust
Hello, Steve. I thought I'd stop by again and leave some comments. I've been feeling down lately and your music always keeps me occupied during these rare times I have. This is about your song... I like the beginning in how it introduces the mood. Very slow starting but filled with emotion and messages as to what withers the mind. "Why should someone die because of the feelings inside?" Stuff like that makes me think. And that's why I come here when I'm down. It helps me to think. Not to mention the awesome guitars. They do sound a little outside the song. Like a polish in the depth would be awesome to hear a nice big deep chug in it. But that's just my little mice telling me what I think. Pay no attention if desired. lol I do like the build into the faster portion of the song and I am definitely sitting back and listening to some good metal. I think the drums are worked out very nicely and work great with all the other sounds. The metals are able to be heard and the snares are crunchy. The mix as a whole could use a better mix down buy hey, whatcha gonna do? Not everybody has a million dollar studio in their back pocket. Even so stated... This is good. I like the vocals most of all. Your voice fits very well with the melodies and the structure of the song is very well thought out. The lyrics a heart-felt and have superb messages. Perfect for the kind of "God just hit me with a challenge" type of mood. This is quality music. Thanks for letting me have the pleasure of listening. I'll come by again. Have a great day!
This is a catchy tune guys! I like how dramatic it sounds. The clean guitars are my favorite part. Keep rockin! Jonathan-RTE
Again, an intelligently written, arraged and performed achievement. A crystal clear, crisply recorded piece of music that you can all be proud of. Class work all-round, fellas, thumbs up for sure! Take care out there, J. ps - nice ending, with just the clean guitars, good work.
Congrats on the Xmas charts - fine song - not too heavy - can see why you want to make this your signature track - very original.
Nice - Excellent imstrumentation but the vocals.....sometimes I would have brought them futher forward - I wonder if you did them in one take? - I am not saying i know much about it but have you thought to do the vocals in two takes and with each take have yourself in a different character role. Then mix back which ever sounds best in that part of the passage. - just a thought - even a cat can look at the queen. I really hope you guys are getting somewhere with this. Anyways I thought I'd leave a comment - hope my comment is more promising than my music!!! - you guys are a true inspiration to me (!!!!!3-year plan----- I can't see this afternoon!!!!)- keep it up -[I'll stop bumbling now!] --jon.
Powerful Steve...I can see why it's your fave Ditheramb track. It shows you can have a non-hate filled metal song that packs just as big a punch and commands just as much attention. Excellent.
i dont see why stuff like this cant be played on the radio. just as good as metalica i reckon.
holly crap that's alot of comments. I would say it's a great production but it looks like everyones already implied that like a million times so ye ... great producion. (my kind of music for a change)
I realised I've got a D/L of this but when I looked here ... Yep fekkin ejit.. I forgot to put a comment. A well better late etc. This is class. Sod trying to match who it sounds like. To me it sounds like Ditheramb!! Decked out in all their metalic glory. Got an anthemic quality to it. The final word? F*cking Awesome .. ok so that's 2 words.
Wow! Chorus kicks in big time on this! Vocals, guits, drums, production all top notch. Kevin Mooney.
Nice intro. Very powerful lyrics and fab vocals.Tells the story well a very moving track. Gets my rate for sure, nice one Steve;)
Hope you don't mind but nicked a d/l. This song is very kewl. Like the distortion sound you got and how the hell do you sing like that? Am jealous!! Rated \m/0_0\m/
Sorry guys i thought i commented on this but realised it was the other track lst week! lol Well first of a very powerful intro! Why arent you guys singed yet? Seriously i hear these types of songs all the time from singed bands and you guys have something special about you? dunno whatit is tho so dont ask hehe Production wise the track is top! some great recording and the vocals are really moving too! i reakon this track woul fit sweet into an intro of a movie or maybe ending credits! the part where you go really fast and speed up is class and very well controlled production-wise! Really epic feel and powrful as i said before! Evanessence feel too i think? lol Rated for deffs and best of luck with it!!! Marty
More great stuff... although agree that the distorted guitar is a bit muffled and distant in places. I like the varying structure and the contrasts throughout. It sounds like it would be stonking live too...
Very good writing, love the melody, great changes. The lyrical content was strong and pervoking. I thought the vocals weren't powerful enough for the song and I mean this in the way of mixing NOT the singing itself. The over all production sounded a little muffled. I much as I liked the guitar work (My favorite part) I would've liked to have heard them come across harder at the crescendos. You guys are very tight, I thought I had heard you before but, I think this is my first time. My loss indeed. Very strong track gentlemen.
i still love this song it's just perfect in its changes between all the different musical combinations or something intelligent like that whatever i love this track
Excellent intro build-up. Powerful song indeed.
Exceptional playing, great guitar sound, vocals are outstanding, monster track guy's, rated.
I'm back again... for another listen, I really like that intro you know, fab tune, and it's getting better everytime I listen.. Fab!
I like the beginning myself, and like the rest of the song as well, nice guitars, and the vocals are fab as well, suit the song perfectly. Bass, Drums all good, and it's well put together, like the riffs, lyrics are nice... yep very enjoyable listen... Thumbs up
Sounds good guys, kicked into gear a bit late in the song for me - good interchange between molidic and axe crunching stuff. What was goinf on at the start of the song, was that running water (rain) - not sure I quite got that
I like this. Good melody with this one.
one my personal favs :) power dynamics :) passion, plenty of these in this track :) probably my most played track on mp3 i love it m8 :)reminds me of tool and metallica a tribute to both acts, as they are respected amongst the gr8s top work guys now get some work done :P
Rated too
Great song dude. Tributes all-round despite England losing 2nd test ha ha
powerful performance by all, powerful song, really really good...
All you need Steve is some heavy promotion and a good marketer and you can be supporting bands like metallica and then they can start supporting you Brilliant mate
Had to come back and listen again. New speakers sure amplify your talents! I am so very impressed! I think one day I will turn on the radio and hear you guys! Surely! Or perhaps see your music video on TV! (...then my goosebumps will have goosebumps!) :) Carol Sue
This one takes a while to get going, but when it does it seriously delivers!
Awesome! Where is the party? :) A tune I would enjoy seeing performed live! Great job! :) Carol Sue
The old man's just listened to this and said you kicked the .... out of INXS, sent ACDC into meltdown and blown Whitesnake off the planet. Think you've got a fan here boys. Any news on an album release? Like this tune fella's, very well done. Rainy x
I totally dig your stuff cats! This song is very emotional. Very Very cool. I am off to rockinghorse to grab your ep! Keep it up! HORNS!
Hee there tnx for your comment, i listen to your track and it has a very spheric sound to me. I;m not so a listener of the texts more of the sound and that is nice. Good work. RDMeister
Not really my thing, but the concepts are good and maybe a rock ballet would be great I think you got the voice for it.
Well, this kinda music isn't really my thing anymore (my my it used to be!) but I love the moody intro to the song and great guitar work. Nice voice too, plenty of grit. Great metal song!
Great, guys!!! Gonna put it on my mp3 player. This song inspires me to pencil and write some lyrics down.
Fantastic track! Guitar makes me jealous!
love the guitar in this, reminds me of Metallica & Pearl jam. keep them coming :)
This is probably one of my favourites on your page so far. The playing and production is awesome. Again, the changes in mood and attention given to the melodies is fantastic.
wicked track steve, i had this on in the car 2day on the way 2 work. reminds me so much of tool also metallica you deffo should be competing with these bands quality track thumbs deffo up on this :)
Another very well put togather tune.Keep em coming.
More to Come...
Darkest Hour is a bizarrely structured song. I found it difficult to distinguish between verse, chorus, middle eight, bridge, intermissions and such like. However, the changes in timing, feel and dynamic did keep the track very interesting although at times they do sound a bit disjointed. The fact that there was not an openly recognisable chorus detracted slightly from my enjoyment of the pi
The title of this track (3 away) reminds me (and not many people will know this) that our word “trivia” originates from the Latin meaning the meeting of three ways (tri via) or crossroads, which was, supposedly a place where people gathered to chat about nothing in particular. Having said that, the song in question is about a subject that is anything but trivial although doubtless those a
Well now, this just makes me wanna be in a band again! I used to listen to a lot of metal so I feel I'm qualified enough to say just how great this is. To me, this track takes the best parts of metal (high energy performances, hard-hitting riffs) and mixes it with melodic beauty in both the vocal and guitar performances and even the roughness of grunge. Quite a lethal mixture! For me, something st
Since I came across this Australian band when I reviewed In My Shadow (October 2005), they have seldom been off my radar. Part of that allure has to be down to my own liking for the band's rock credentials and their particular slant on what the term 'metal' should mean. Part of that is down to a personal friendship with Steve Kinghorn (the most visible member of the band). The ot
Steve from Ditheramb seems to be the chief cook and bottlewasher of this group of talent and it is him that I have got to know as a musician of some quality. We first crossed swords when he asked me to put their track Darkest Hour to Classical music. I have to say at this point I am not a lover of most heavy metal but there are exceptions and what I have heard from this lot certainly changes my min
Ditheramb - Euphoria Moody metal is what we're dealing with here and it's obvious from the start that these guys know their stuff. Not only that, they're melodically commercial enough to stand a real chance on actually making it into the larger arena. If I can get a gripe out of the way before I carry on, though, the vocals are generally way too quiet to suit such a powerfully played song, eve
Okey dokey, lets get started..... My first admission is that I know about as much about metal as I do about 3rd Century Mongolia.......in other words, not alot! So when Steve from Ditheramb replied to my offer of a review I was, well, wary..... but this is a really class track. Track Structure (9/10) I'm the first to admit I dont know what the perfect Metal 'Track Stru
Hello everyone again!! This is my third time reviewing the 4 man band, Ditheramb (which to me gives the sound of a REAL bad lisp of saying, “Dice a lamb”). If you haven’t heard of this amazing epic rock band you should be aware that they consist of the following: Jack Greenhill, playing the bass guitar, Glenn Townsend, hitting the drums, Steve Kinghorn, as the lead sing
This song is an epic metal song that has different personalities. I hear a mellow hint of Pink Floyd and a mixture of Sabbath, Priest... This all blends into a metal song that speaks of letting go, death, in my analysis. The song structure is smooth to frantic and back again and on to the climax. This schizophrenic mixture seems to work and I liked the structure. This song
The Kinghorn brothers (Steve and Scott), Jack Greenhill and Glenn Townsend collectively known as Ditheramb have - in the space of a year - carved themselves out quite a reputation for fiery, rock based tracks and have a lot of credibility from this reviewer. I got some cute metal ears after having spent many years getting blown from wall to wall by this heavy metal band or that one.&nb;
Hey again to everybody. This time around I’m going to be delving into some metal.
The name of the group is Ditheramb, and I’m going to cover a tune titled “In My Shadow”.
Ditheramb - Crushed to Dust
Hello once again everybody! Ah, what do we have here today? Oh sweet, it’s Ditheramb once again! This is my third time reviewing the 4-man rock band. For those first hearing of Ditheramb, the members consist of: Jack Greenhill, playing the bass guitar, Glenn Townsend, hitting the drums, Steve Kinghorn, as the lead singer who plays the guitar, and last but no
MP3 Unsigned is a site that hosts many fine artists, covering just about every genre known to man. I have spent almost two years reviewing those artists by now and I think I have a pretty good grip on who does what. Out of all those musicians though, there aren't that many that make music that is - in any meaningful way - different. Sure the site has it's share of musical oddball
Wow I feel like I’ve been generous with ratings so far, but I guess the songs I’ve listened for reviewing just caught my attention real quick and made me real happy with the result. Anyways, this is the second time I’ve reviewed the 4-man band, Ditheramb, who I can introduce to you: Jack Greenhill, playing the bass guitar, Glenn Townsend, hitting the drums, Steve Ki
Brisbane, Australia's Ditheramb (consisting of Steve and Scott Kinghorn,Jack Greenhill and Glenn Townsend btw) impressed me enormously from the first track I reviewed, In My Shadow (October 2005). Their blend of styles and arranging skills helped because I haven't been known to be into metal since I got rid of me acne by chopping off my head. No, wait a minute. That can't be righ
Stained with power and performance. I’m back. This is my second review on here and this is a far more familiar sound and ground for me. I’ve loved rock music since 1994, I was 12, and I’ve continued a massive interest ever since! I’ve never been very unconventional in my tastes, my favourite band was always Metallica as well as loving korn, slipknot, roses and a bit of biscui
Now Ditheramb hail from Austalia which is good as two of my favourite artists of all time are from there, Midnight Oil, and INXS. So thats a good start :o) For a metal track this starts quietly with some nice guitar leading into Steves' excellent vocals, which are joined by the drums, and then lead onto a crescendo of the group kicking in. This gives way again to the more subtle music
This is quite a cool song, but as an objective listener, I become and objective reviewer, but don't get worried...lol first off, the recording needs some help, leaves a little to be desired, I can't really hear what the guitar is doing until it get's a little more excitable, but overall, it clips in spots, and is a bit muddy, but I'll get off my engineers stool and get to the song itself.
Well this is the 3rd review I have done for ditheramb, I was a fan after doing the first review and after the 2nd I was man why aint this band in my cd collection. Now we are on the 3rd review, and does my opinion change? The answer is nope. Main reason, Steve has just uploaded another bunch of quality tracks. So guess who, has a mini ditheramb album? Yup that wasn’t hard me of course. It’s not
Alright guys! See? I told you I was going to do more reviews, not that you were doubting me or anything, lol. Anyways, back on task!
This is gonna be a straight forwards review no silliness honest J From the start to the end all 30 or 40 seconds ;) only joking. of this track screams western, Pistols @ dawn and all that, I reviewed this band on my last set of reviews And pretty much thought yup these guys are going places, and I am still standing by this. Again I can hear influences but im not gonna harp on about that. its pla
So we are back on course, or are we?……..this reviewing game is a piece of cake ;) It is now anyway, and im about to have a massive slice of this cake. Here goes this is going to be fun As soon as this bad boy fires up, it’s back to my roots, roots been my music preferences. The question here is, which musical influences, smack my head around the most, with this monster of a track?
The major problem with reviewing so many tracks a month is that you quickly forget just why you gushed buckets over this track but not over that one... Take Ditheramb for example. This Brisbane, Australian four peice heavy rock band got inundated with praise when I reviewed In My Shadow (October 2005) and for the life of me I couldn't remember the track at all when I came to write this
Allow me to make myself extremly clear. A rating above a 7 means i think it is ready for radio. i see a 7 as an average professional track by a professional artist. While its hot on my mind, there is a breakdown where an almost magical guitar sound comes in before a huge hit and the music verse comes back in. Make sure you peeps reading this check out this magic riff, i shall re
I could have sworn I had reviewed this metal outfit from Brisbane (from the land Down Under) but having exhausted all my search facilities I've come up a complete blank. I have a suspicion it disappeared into a black hole after my last computer crash. And they said it would make life easier, eh? Yeaaahhh, right. Hear that whooshing sound?, that's the wind flapping in the pi
In My Shadow by Ditheramb Hello! Tedd-Z again! Aaah... good old rock! Haven't reviewed rock in a long time, so I had to adjust a little! Makes a nice change from electronic music, tho! First impressions... it sounds good! Everything's clear, claritable and has its own space, so the production work is very good! Arrangement is fine aswell! Not too stop-start, not dragged too much! Performance is
Wow, you said outside my genre, and you were right. But i am a music lover 1st and foremost. and my 1st impression is wow. This is a great track, but first things first, the instrumental. Melodic metal is the correct phrase to describe this!! Excellent changes of pace in places and i have to say i really enjoyed the way you swapped from quiet, haunting melodies to heavy, distorted leads. The intro
I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the Metal genre, since it was the music I grew up on as a kid. Ditheramb is a melodic metal band from Australia, and they have asked for a review on the tune “ Crushed to Dust”.
Ditheramb For those who don't know I am an avid listener of new music and half of the duo Serenity here at mp3unsigned.com. As many of you know I'm not a great rock/metal fan preferring chill out and more commercial rnb/dance/pop tunes. So it takes a pretty decent track for me to think otherwise. I have my favourites that constantly surprise me, however
AN MP3 Unsigned artist I hadn't heard anything about until I picked up on a forum conversation, Ditheramb is a 4 piece outfit from Brisbane in Australia - and we'd better not hold that against them eh? The band consists of brothers (?) Steve Kinghorn (gtr/vocals) and Scott Kinghorn (gtr/backing vocals), Glenn Townsend (drums) and Jack Greenhill (bass). Formed in 2003, it appears they s
‘Crushed To Dust’ – a few wordies from Spyda I was asked to add ‘Crushed To Dust’ to my Feb 5 review thread on behalf of Ditheramb, because being based in Australia & due to the difference in time zones they miss out on review threads here on MP3Unsigned. So here goes. Before I joined MP3Unsigned in April 2004 I would never ever have given the rock & metal genres a
I listened to this a while back a couple of times then left it alone to have a think about it. A few more listens. Ok what passed my hallowed aural portals? I like this composition. The dynamics of the song are very well worked out and really give the song a great listening edge. From the vocal to the instrumentation it's as tight as a badgers ass.
Slow start but gradually built into a superb deep guitar bliss of madness and lost soulfull voice tones, this band from Brisbane Australia shows a lot of great quality for the metal/heavy rock community. The bridge work is great in this, with a moderate break halfway through the song, it didn't drown out the purpose of the song, to take you on a heavy adventure into the unknown.
