Wow, you said outside my genre, and you were right. But i am a music lover 1st and foremost. and my 1st impression is wow. This is a great track, but first things first, the instrumental. Melodic metal is the correct phrase to describe this!! Excellent changes of pace in places and i have to say i really enjoyed the way you swapped from quiet, haunting melodies to heavy, distorted leads. The introduction is excellent, with the rain in the background, i really wasn't expecting the heavy guitars to follow.
now the lyrics.....haunting and heavy hitting, they fit wih both styles of music shown in this song: the heavy leads and the soft, melodic sections. Beautifully mixed, the vocals never sound too loud or too soft. The lyrical content is haunting and depressing, stirring deep emotions of sympathy that, when combined with the aggressive guitars, begins to mould into a hatred of life, which is instantly chased out of your mind when the outro kicks in, bringing back feelings of sympathy and sorrow.
Listening to it again, i have to say this track is really growing on me, the opposite styles of loud and soft getting increasingly hard hitting each time i listen. Brilliant track!! Listen to it, you wont regret it
