Hi, Interesting piano drums and vocals mix. I like the blend of styles including the jazz influence. I like the interesting timing a lot. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie
Stellar piece of music, lovely vocals and some excellent beats. Nicely done, and most deserving of that #1 spot; rated.
Well yet again, this track went so quickly for a longish running time. Fab work!....congrats on the #1. I can see why! Music and vocals achieve perfection! Flawless! Rated Mark
Very cool musical track. It really draws in the listener. Awesome vocals. The harmony is intriguing.
Brilliant track, the vocals are out of this world, and the piano on this is just sensational. Jazzy in that I could never play it lol, I'm getting your sound now, realising how unique you are as artists, this one is faultless :)
This is so cool, can't believe I haven't commented yet.. listened to it the other week, such an ace track. Your stuff blows me away guys, so much talent. Haunting harmonies are amazing, production is typically spot on. R& (late) N! Kiopo :)
Well Done on another No1 Track great vocals and lovely keyboards do it for me!
Well here I am..late again, but better late than never I guess. Well another fine piece of electronica with some lovely haunting vocs you 2 have produced here... obviously just about everything has been said below, so I will just add my congrats on another fine track, well constructed, recorded and performed..lovely stuff!!!!
Just to say this is another class track... Really like the vocal on this and the production is top notch as usual....
lol, late! i gotta say i think this one is right up there with some of stellas best. everything works a treat together. i think you two have created a new genre here or its just a consistant style i've never heard before. very creative stuff. the beats work well in and between mels trademark vocal style and some subtle fx. all in all another perfectly surreal track. gotta love it! well done on 1st place, you chart topping duo! (:
Yet another superb piece. I love the beats.
Hee hee... Now it's my time to draw comparisons with da floyd dude. I'm dead sure you'll take this as a compliment. I particularly liked the atonal piano touches evry now and then. It's got a great build-up and the drums giv it a modern feel. Good work dude. Rated
reminds me a lot of the collaboration of massive attack and tracey thorn. very atmosperic track. the bass drum seems not loud enough in the mix for my ears. very tricky rhythm pattern. amazing vox.
wow vocals fit so well, just amazing, enjoyed the listen. Well Done!
Oo, still very nice. In fact, definitely better. A lot more effects in this, from what I remember and it does the track justice as I still stand by my description of a glitchy forest. I've always been absorbed by the piano and pads and how it works well with Mel's vocals. :D I like the beat you got going. I'm not much of a beat person, but I don't have to tell you that lol. In fact, the stuff that you tweaked and added made me appreciate the piano even more. This easily became one my favorite tracks from you two and it shows how hard you two worked on it! :D Wish I could rate twice lol. Nominated!! :D
Oooh kinda old skool hip hop beat there in the intro! heheh Ah now its turned into a jazzy glitch like beat! Sweet! Niiiice piano playing and ahh theres Mel! Nearly every time i hear you sing Mel gives me shivvers and this time is no exception! lol Nice atmospherics in this too, quite unusual sounds but fuk do they sound niiice! Thats kick drum is phattt as fuk too, its one of those kicks that are so low it tickles your balls, well ok maybe a little over exaggeration but its a good way to describe it! hahah Interesting sfx in this too, i like the wee 'scanner' sound, makes it sound very sci fi like and also adds to the atmosphere. Still cant help but love those piano keys, very jazzy and kinda funky too! Sh!t, its over already and i was really getting into that too! lol 5.35 minutes long and it felt like about 3 minutes long, id say thats damn good going! lol Very well laid out track with some great piano playing not to mention sfx! :) Anyways loves this track you two! Id say this Orphans album is shaping up very nicely! Best of luck with it! Marty
I really like this one mate :) The beats drive it nicely without getting in the way of the vocals as do the rest of the instruments. A really nice bit of chillout :D
The beat here is powerful, driving and provides a good backing for Mel to work thru. Not quite triphop but like nothing else apart from the now de riguer SP trademark. Nice one you too. More ear candy served up....rated.
killer! what else is there to say.... stunning piece of work guys... absolutely genius! all appropriate treats
The harmonies have an almost medieval feel to them....liking the beats and backtrack a lot.....radio fx remind me of Crass a bit.....piano is smooth.....vocals sublime.....very unusual track. Like it! Kevin Mooney
I came back beacause i forgot to click 'rate track', done now, sorry. Nom'd too. Craig
I've said before that I love the laid back stuff that you 2 are making and this has just gone and raised the bar again. Agree with all that's been said regarding music and vocal quality, another number 1 on the cards methinks. Craig
Unique subject - "Hello Anonymous" and a very interesting arrangement. The harmonies are just on the money Melinda! Sounds like you two have done it again! A most pleasing vibe! Congrats :)
Hey Ricky! This is really something else!Vocals are sublime and everything just fits! If you see what I mean. Rated.. Take Care Andy :)
1st off that kick is delicious espec with that warm bass hit. i am sat here counting beats and trying to work the timing but i can't so i stopped now lol - just enjoying the vibe, great stuff - i bet a linear version would be bang on also but what u have here is a distinctly classic track - dare i say genre setting? i haven't heard anything in this style! top rates, vocs perfect, atmos in the zone!
hey bro you and mel what a team hey .. very pretty kets ricky lush infact, and them varied shuffled beats.. how can you pull stuff off dude like this .. its beyond anything i could ever do ... mels voice haunting or what by god that lady can sing.. cant think of nothing else to say really. truth is i dont feel qualifed enough to leave a comment up on here... total blown away by the standards you push yourself too ... production is great clarity clear has a bell to my lug holes.. rated!
I really don't know where you get your inspiration... I honestly can say you have developed a completely unique sound. This is one of your more challenging efforts, but the vox really keeps it flowing. Me likes :-)
Probably my third listen tonight...and it's very, very good, not heard anything as good as you guy's for a long time, another great track, mel's clean and 'perfect' vocals played out against some of the smoothest beats and piano you are likely to hear, and as always a quality recording, loving it folks :)
Sometimes i find myself rushing through the music on this site trying to listen to as much as possible, but this stopped me in my tracks (no pun intended), music and vox both outstanding. rated Nikjam
Back for another listen, sounding nicely polished off now, this has a really calming effect, from the piano, to the beats to Mel's vox....well done :)
Piano melody pins this all together really well. Idiosyncratic beats and radio interference background noise..works well in contrast with flawless vocal. I think the ending could be drawn out a bit more with just the noise fading slowly. Its cool stuff again.
have you's put this up before without vocals?very familiar, crazy electric sparks fillin the back round nicely, solid paino(sounds very good)vocals brilliant as always some really high notes hit there near the end perfectly, evolution of jazz?good stuff the both of you.
Quality, off the rails track you two. Yet it works so so well. Wonderful music Ricky, bet that took a while to do. To make sure sounded right, and Mels vox are top as ever. This is definately turning into a must have cd for everyone. ONAGER
Always have to be different in some way.......the beats work really well, quite a creative lil idea, Mel your vocals are great on this.......it is quite hypnotising, I like it, love the harmonies too.x
Whoa really wierd!! The imagery I get from this is something I've never even thought of before...a glitchy forest. Isn't that something wierd to think about? Like the pad, piano, and beat give that tranquil being in the forest feel. The vocals and those extra little effects give it that odd, electronic feel. Interesting harmony with the vocals though. And I have to agree with Whoz4t about the piano. :D Very interesting song. It has me raising one eyebrow, in a good way. It would be intriguing to see this in a MMORPG... :D Rated!
An oddly beautiful piece... jazztrip? Second listen has me really liking the piano work :) xJade

Whenever Ricky Mancini slams a track into my review list, am torn in two different directons; flight or fight. In his MD-1 Project personna, his music is often abrasive, disconcerting and hard to get close to. There again in his collaborative effort with Melinda Mohn - the aforementioned Stella Polaris Project - his testosterone levels are somwhat calmed by, presumably, her calming prescence. T
Fourth time up for current MP3 Unsigned darlings Ricky Mancini (aka MD1-Project on the same site) and dulcet toned Melinda Mohn who collectively make up Stella Polaris Project. As it happens, I have been snowed under over the past month with CD's of all shapes and sizes, including Orphans, the latest from this duo. Regular readers will remember the impact this duo have made on me, gett
I bet that Ricky (Mancini) and Melinda (Mohn) known collectively as Stella Polaris Project are probably a bit stunned that, finally, I managed to spell their name right. Couldn't get it for the life of me until I came up with an ingenious (nay cunning) plan. I had the name tattooed on my childrens foreheads because I see them every day so I am not likely to forget. There again, m
Here's a question that's been rattling around my brain for a while; what has twenty fingers and two filthy minds? Well I don't know cos I guess I'm too old to be thinking about it, but I do know such an entity has a name - Stellar Polaris Project. This is the second track I've heard from this duo from MP3 Unsigned comprising of Ricky Mancini (aka MD-1 Project) and Melinda Mohn. A
Regular readers may have noticed that this month, for the first time in a long while, I have managed to snag some tracks from MP3 Unsigned. Digital Juggernaut was the first of these, Stelar Polaris the second. Stelar Polaris are an electronica due featuring Ricky Mancini (which should be a familiar name to long term readers) and Melinda Mohn. Not sure who does what but I gu
Thought this one was gonna be a tough one to review, but I listened to it a few more times and managed to get a handle on how I felt about the track so here goes. I suppose what first strikes you about this pairing is that it shouldn't really work. A deep soulful voice, mixed with challenging jazz/avant-garde chord progressions and whatever else they care to bring to the party. What's equally surp
For those that don't know, Stella Polaris is a collaboration that formed on this site between Ricky Mancini (MD-1 Project) and Melind Mohn (solo). Ricky the producer/nstrumentalist and Melinda the singer/ lyricist who also produces and arranges her own music. A very unique combination that I would have never paired together as he is predominately a trance music
The first thing that your reviewer encounters when embarking upon a review is, of course, the title. And today, dear reader I am faced with a track called “Orphans” and what strikes me immediately is how evocative that title is. So allow me please, a brief digression while I muse on this word. First off, it comes down to us from Greek (orphanos), via Latin (orphanus) and Middle English a
