Lloyd Warren and his band, The Warren Project, combine funk rhythms, rock tones, and jazz changes. A lot of the songs have more structure than most "jam" tunes, but they still allow the band to stretch out and improvise. " I love fusion music and straight ahead jazz, but I'm not sure if we fall into these categories. I try to make the songs accessable to a wider audience, while still trying to reach a jazz audience or other musicians by playing over more complicated chord changes. The songs tend to have a rock or funk feel, just a little more orchestrated. Then again, sometimes I feel like I'm writing stuff that doesn't fit any category, which my wife, Nancy, and other people say sounds like movie scores. So I'm not sure what my category is !"

The songs also feature Mike McGee on drums, Tom Regeski and Will Scruggs on sax. Lloyd writes the material, produces, and arranges from his home studio in Atlanta. He plays guitar, piano, bass, synths, and percussion on the songs. |
