MAJOR MOTION PICTURE - “The Mentor” Deborah's love ballad "Without You" selected for soundtrack….
Born in Little Rhody, south side of Providence, Rhode Island, Deborah grew up surrounded by groups like "Chubby & the Turnpikes", better known as "Tavares", Jeffery Osborne / LTD", the soulful sounds of Motown, R&B;, Jazz, the ocean and the intimate rhythms of the street.
Deborah began her singing career early on as a member of a church choir, later became a member of a local R&B; band and performed at various clubs while still in Providence. Her need and desire for self-expression followed her to Chicago, Houston and now the NY/NJ area where she continues to perform at clubs and special events, record jingles and now the release of her CD.
Legendary Gladys Knight and Mary Wells have played a strong role in Deborah's musical style. Some other influences are Phyllis Hyman, Linda Jones and Smokey Robinson.
"Let You Tell It" has earned Deborah a world-wide fan based via digital/internet radio stations in Canada, Japan, Germany, Spain, Australia and London to name a few.
Inspired by her husband, Deborah wrote all but 1 song on the 12 track "Let You Tell It" CD. Deborah also had the opportunity of working with good friend, producer Lenis Guess,- 80’s hit “Workin for My Baby” on this project.
As a performer, Deborah reaches across generations by the energetic use of her richly alto textured voice, wide vocal range and challenging melodies and themes that emerge from the deep experiences and reality of intense passion. Both the themes and melodies strike a universal chord in anyone who has experienced love. Deborah is able to captivate and mesmerize audiences by revealing her soul fullness.
It’s been described that Deborah’s vocal similarities are of the late Phyllis Hyman, a sprinkle of Cher and Toni Braxton all embraced into one, but in the end Deborah’s distinctive personality takes over and she releases a voice unto her own.
