This track brings to mind a kind of abstract czechoslovakian stop-motion puppet animation that used to be shown on Irish children's TV slots with alarming regularity. As a consequence, my childhood dreams were often accompanied by soundtracks such as this. :) For the sense of nostalgia, plus the quality of sound, rated! Merry Christmas!
Very dark and mysterious. a feast for the imagination. well done.
This has an eerie chill to it. I bet this worshop is where Chuckie was made. Ditto the bad gremlins. Nicely produced and littered with little gems that keep the ear/brain interested. I can also visualize the umpa lumpas wanting this music being played in the background at the Wonka factory. Cool, thumzup.
I was born at an early age. This made it easier on my mother. No one else in my family considered themselves to be musical and some say that I am keeping up this fine tradition. My musical taste has always been I guess, bitter, in that I was drawn to sadness and misery. I loved the gloomy, discordant, insular music that seemed to make others depressed. This is not to say that I was ever a goth.More a moth than goth, albeit a contrary moth attracted to the darkness. So I began improvising with a MIDI keyboard, creating these noises and then had the difficult decision of chosing a name: A vanity project, as it is for everyone on this site, but how to encapsulate this fact.
Freud described the id as:the dark, inaccessible part of our personality, a chaos, a cauldron full of seething excitations ... it has no organization. This kind of sums up my approach to orchestral music making, so I thought of using the name "ORCHid". But this was too flowery, too happy. Freud also used an analogy likening the ego to a rider and a horse; the ego being the rider while the id being the horse. The horse provides the energy and the means of obtaining the information needed, while the rider ultimately controls the direction it wants to go. However, sometimes the horse makes its own decisions over the rocky terrain. Though my music is purely improvisational, I do maintain some control over its output and therefore the name "Orchestrego" seemed appropriate. How does one define happy, without mentioning the seven dwarfs?.....
