another discovery for me and another little treasure at that !! just listened to this about five times..(a record for me!!most things i listen to get about a minute at the most! ha ha ha..transported me into the spirit of miss melinda mohn...does that make sense?..anyway a stunner and it ends far to early !!!.....tony x
A fantastic arrangement and incredible sound quality. A really great musical piece. Rated. Craig
This is fab, very trippy and spiritual. Great production on it, I love the arpeggiated bass, it's quite ethnic also. This track is also quite hypnotic and magical. Great stuff, keep it up!
Wow! Magical! And i usually can't stand this genre. Just excellent. Sounds like the little creature padding away into the distance might come from the delay effect on the synth at 06:58.
beautiful flute playing in the intro with nice little triangle sounds and whispering fx's in the background. and then the nice bongo drums fade in with more percussion. neat little fx type synth panning around. then finally the bass and drums kick in and i'm liking the grove to this one. the keys are played well again. then u bring back the flute ontop of everything ... sweet layering of the melodies all flowing together really nicely. wow that was an amazingly well structured track. managing to take all those melodies and in the end bring them all together. Deff Rated! Matt
cant put my finger on the vib bit it hits all the right nerves for me. that flute is seriously the biz. pushed a few buttons (:
Hi Mel, this certainly portray's a visual to the listener, love all the traditional sounding instuments & percussion, then the electronica bass kicks in and it all blends so well, this is a quality track Mel, I'm really glad I stopped by, rated :)
This track is simply astounding! I feel like I'm on a perilous trek through the desert when I listen to this. Great to listen to while driving on a bright sunny day. Huzzah and kudos to you! Great job! -Phenom-
This is quite nice to listen to, like Ambient with an eastern vibe. I like the beat.
another cool and well played track mel :) love the eastern vibe :) im hearing this alot on the boards of late, i aimed for the same kinda vibe with my elements entry :) top work some real classy touches, love the laid back beats, almost electronica in feel and then it builds up in to a nice beat feast deffo hear electronica in this piece, very well played mel top marks thumbs up
:-) Loving this track too still :-)lol - errm Pro?? Nah - Still got my L plates firmly attatched :-) lol...You go grab all those Sweeties ;-P x
Yeah I agree with J, I always have enjoyed listening to eastern and world music, and the mixture of east and west is very well balanced here, I really like this, lovely rythm, which hooked me and rolled me along just as it should... excellent, well done!!!!
A very enjoyable piece was a pleasure to listen to. Really has a nice flow to it and kept me hooked till the end. Great stuff gets my rate for sure.
Beautiful, simply beautiful. I sadly used to believe that Eastern sounds would never really catch on in music in general and I'm glad to see it more and more nowadays, especially when what we're offered is of such high quality. Classic work, Melinda, some good sounds floating around here - I don't know what you use to make this, but it's working for you. The overall production has a good, spacey deep feel too - really suits the track. Also noted is the fine percussion/drum work, good use of fades and changes throughout the track. Nice touches. Thumbs up - lovely.
thanks Essence! - means a lot coming from a pro at this electronic stuff. such a creative genre - I feel like a kid in a candy store:-)don't know which sound to grab first..lol
Really sweet sensual intro - nice subtle builds. I love tablas and Eastern Vibes :-P Right up my street. A lovely piece that flows like a little winding river !! Yes - You have captured the theme of Elements very well!! Fascinating track actually -full of intrigue - a story in itself!! . Rated and nom'd. Peace x
I've listened to a number of your tracks, Melinda, and I enjoy them very much. Very exciting - a little like Ravel's Bolero in some ways. The ending is fine, I think.
I realy like the "world music" feel on this one. Nick
Wow this is totally useful:-0! and you live down the road from me!!! How cool is that? This is first try at a piece like this and I was looking and looking for the right sound to compliment the melody but haven't fully developed my skill at keyboarding the string instruments - I will try it and also perhaps a more eastern sound on the percussion and see what happens! Thanks man!
Melinda, I wanted to thank you for you comments on my pieces as well comment on yours. (I'm a Seattlite as well!! On Ravenna Ave) Anyway this piece is really really good but to make it really impressive and have that complete sound like your Jazz pieces consider this. The piece has a wonderful middle eastern or Turkish vibe adding that sort of a drum sample and if you can get ahold of a sample with near eastern instrumentation even better. Two the flute is lovely but it gives the feel more of a middle ages vibe. Maybe that is what you were shooting for it is reminiscent of Lorena Mackennet. But if you could sample or use something that is stringged like a dulcimer or some sort of egyptian violin it would make this just incredible.
This is my 1st foray into your musical world and what a way to be introduced. The asiatic theme of the music is the listening key to this piece. Having read your iconic walk up through your past I can only state that envy opened her eyes a little. This is a marvellous piece that invites the listener to dream of exotic landcapes and walk a while with the travellers who roam there. Simply? Wonderful
