Antidote to happiness
Sad feel without melancholy. Thought I might tire of the arpeggio piano but didn't and the unpredictable sax took me on a smooth journey throughout. Lovely chill out music. Well done.
I imagined a high class man drunk in the 70ts inside his house with his sparckling suit and wondering in his stranged world
Now you knew i would like this one !!!! my mood exactly.. and yes reflective .... not depressing.. btw hows things ?? Rob
James. Got up early this AM (on my friggin day off!) and decided to cruise to my favorite artist sites and find some tunes I hadn't heard. This one is really smooth and soothing. Hope my lady is in the mood tonite (:-). BTW, since all I know is midi, you are my hero for the day...R
its a lot different to your normal cuppa tea...very much fitting the theme tune comments...i much prefer your rock stuff..but this is laid back and arranged well thumbs up...get back to the rock ya soft lad :P
As has been mentioned before the Sax sounds a bit mechanical as every note has the same attack and there's not much variation in the note values either. That said this is still a really nice track and sounds very clear. Like the piano especially. Rated. Craig
lol i didnt copy the other comments btw!
yeah, smooth listening indeed. nice feel to this, more reflective than melancholic . A bit of a slow dance thing goin on too. Nice one
Gday Andy, I would agree with Rosemarie, this is more a mellow and reflective piece rather than melancholic or mildly depressing.Certainly made for a good listen and an easy rate.I would also agree with Tito and Mark H, that a real sax could only add a touch more "feeling" or emotion.Well done mate.
Have you considered a skin flute? You prolly pretty good at that mate! ;) Anyhow...great sounding track Andy as it seems to get better with every listen! Enjoyed this!
Have you asked Juri about the saxophoist we have featured on a few of our tracks Andy? I am so sure we owe you some favours and if you will listen again to It's My Life, I think you will agree Zintis would be well-worth recruiting if he is available....? Lovely lovely tune. I was reminded of another fab tune that has remained all these years as one of my favourites by clarinetist (is that a word?) Acker Bilk..Stranger on the Shore. Rate for the composition!
The only problem I see James is the midi feeling of it... Lovely chord changes and progression... couldn't figure out where it was going, at least without a keyboard in front of me... the sax sounds good but each note has the same timber on each attack... both the piano and the sax have nice tone just a midi "too perfect" feel... know what i mean... as far as the song itself, very nice and interesting changes :-)
Laid back and Very dreamy.....wonderful sax and really like the chord change it works very well. Have rated
This is a beautiful, smooth listen. So unusual for you Andy. I like it. Great example of variety and talent. Love the sax. It is such a sexy instrument. Your title is catchy but if this is the way you feel when you get depressed, I want some of what you are taking. This is mellow and reflective. There is hope in the track. Maybe change the title.
I just listened to anothe instrumental track and now this one from you! Tone of the sax is nice.....what is it?!......anyway, lovely chords, all really well-played and arranged......top job. Kevin Mooney
Blimey, what a 'departure' from your usual output. An excellent piece of music.
Great track!! Very smooth feeling to this one. I agree with the versatility which is just a real love for music. Great job my friend rate ERic BAD LOVE JUNKIE
Oh you are full of surprises Andy, this is lovely laid back tune. Could see this as a tv theme or film music. Production is all very perfect of course. You seem to turn so versatile - that is good! Anyways, I love emotional stuff & this does it for me! Rated totally! Sonya Stewart.
Lovely piece, don't find it sad at all, soothing and reflective yeah. Nice vibe and enjoyed the listen. :)
ok...thats me just pressed the `rate` button...thought id let u know!....lol....just in case u send the heavies round! lol
Id nvr have guessed this was u in a million yrs!! Tis a fine tune man.....the chord movements are just brill. Ok...im not too keen on the sax...not of the sound...coz it sounds very real...but, its the `feel`...sounds a tad mechanical....u should try a few bends on that modulation wheel thingy...that could really kick some humanity into it. Not detracting from a nice tune tho....oh, and im not gonna comment on the fine prod....coz it gets my back up, its so good!. Take a rate mate;)
Laid back, just my mood at the moment bud. Very emotional changes and strings, soothing rather than depressive I would say. A breath of fresh air and rated. Barry
Lovely track, that's not a real sax ? It sounds really good whatever it is. Track is very chilled, the chord changes are quite beautiful. Sounds very classy, lovely mix, a bit different as well, listened to this one with my 'fan' hat on so no moans from me :) Rated
Sax sounds very nice, as does the percussion, nice laid back vibe, going down very well with my chilled glass of white, thank you Mr. Oakwood. good stuff :)
good smooth sound and as always great mix, what is your formula?
Nice key changes in this Andy. Great musicianship. Brilliantly produced as usual. That sax sound is so big and full. This should be a TV theme itself. Rated.
Ah, a softer side to Mr.Oakwood! Lovely chord progression and melody Andy, and the production's as superb as ever. If this is the "antidote to happiness" why am I enjoying it so much? Thanks for posting this, nice change of pace.
Nice chilled jazzy start! Really nice sax melodies! Great track here Andy! Enjoyed this!
I began recording songs in January 2006. Genre is rock, pop and jazz with electronica dabbles on a few toons. It's a hobby for me. I record using cubase.
Home studio using a PC, yamaha keyboard, a couple of guitars and a Rode NT1A mic. I use cubase for recording/mixing and wavelab for mastering.
A strange fact - in 1976, the term "Mega" was 1st coined by me and came into general usage as meaning something great or awesome. I was an apprentice electrician at the time and "mega" was a technical prefix meaning "a million times". I remember that all my fellow students started using the term so maybe this was down to me. Nobody hardly says it anymore so i guess it's run it's course.
Another strange fact - i designed a telephone for use in a mortuary. Dead interesting lol!!!
Nice strong melody & energy to this track, would be great for the movies.
wow i felt like i was actually at a pink floyd concert excellent tune.
James Oakwood is a new name to me from MP3 Unsigned but hey, he is a man in love with his bed obviously so he's cool by me. He's also a rock artist which, as you well know, definitely fine by me. According to his webpage, he's only been writing and recording since 2006 and features a tasty pick of all his kit (is that a Dell?); the kind of stuff you need to make rock music. Even
Wooohooo!
A refreshing track about my fave place, I love it!
Keep em comming Mr Oakwood!!
