Oh so beautiful lyrics...sorry Ive not heard your music before. This is a Really lovely descriptive song just love the flute and guitar and the harmonies fit perfectly. Rated
Captures the genre perfectly and is superbly written. I like the break too - I'd also like to hear a more laid back version> Rated
Hey Mark love the lyrics on this one.. Jeff from Uncle Shaker...I have solo stuff now
I believe this song was the inspiration for "Land Of Our Birth". I asked Dawn,"Could you write me a folky one like this?" and she did. Nice arrangement. Write me and tell me how you got that flute sound, or are you actually playing it?
Ok got to admit when this first started I hated it. But as it goes on it really grew on me, really rather catchy actually and the flute is brilliant. Your vocal style fits this perfectly Mark and Dawn's lyric's although maybe a little over sentimental are quite poignant. Rated. Craig
Beautifully done ;) - jon
HI Mark. Just popped in for a brief visit, thought id check out the charts..and found this! Great song mate...fantastic capture of the folky sound u have here..with a little hint of modernism....brilliant stuff. The break is the middle is just fab! U two are obv on a mission eh...to out-write everyone else...goes to show sometimes quantity can also be quality! best to u both on a fine piece. rated np.
What a lovely uplifting song. Great one Mark/Dawn
I agree with Aaron it reminds me somthing Donovan or Mike Oldfield would have sung. You have a very distinctive voice Mark. Lyrics are superb Dawn again fit like a glove!Great words and it creates all sorts of images. Rated and a nom from me. Take Care Andy :)
a great song. I hope it does well this week. Vocals are strong, and make me want to fight the man. reminds me of the great music of the 60's. I hope it tops this week, i think it deserves it.
Mark your voice is killer right from the get go. Harmonies are mixed well and it's pro produced. Although, I wouldn't expect anything less. Interesting and unique lyrical concept to this as well from Dawn. I'm loving the wood flute(or whatever it's called). Swiped a d/l. I have a friend who would really get into this. Nice collab. lady and gent!
not heard you before. like your voice has a good sound. nice a gentle vibe to this, rolls along nicely. good work.
Like that very much.....modern folk with poetic lyric and an excellent arrangement. Kevin Mooney
This tune is great you two. I really like the lyrics to this song. When that flute comes in, its like wow.Very peaceful track Mark , rated.
Great prod q and comp as always from you Mark. I like this better than most of the folky stuff I hear. The vocal harmonies give me a Major Tom vibe. Cool lil Irish ditty in there too. Nice flute. Very horticultural lyrics. Good stuff.
Great track from Mark and Dawn, particularly like Mark's vocal on this one, tells a great lyric very well in a very subtle arrangement, well done :)
Nice work you 2. Love the lyric line - So the mighty oak from an acorn grows - overall nice vocal performance from you mark, and like the production on this. Well deserved rate you two. Well done! Sonya Stewart.
Caught a big Strawbs vibe circa 1972 dude and this was entirely very welcome. This song is as catchy as f#ck IMO and Dawns lyrics nails a big story with the minimal expence of words. It trigers the imagination. Loved it. Rated
Hi Mark and Dawn, great song! vocals and harmonies top notch! Allover production is very professional done, good balance on the mix, good guitar work and the flute is a must to have there! Great work!
Sweet. I always smile when I hear your tracks Mark. You do remind me of green pastures, maidens in flowing white, Sirs in suits of armour ...lol. You just have a certain ye olde feel to you sometimes :) Interesting lyrics - well performed. Very good track Mark and Dawn. Like 1.54mins - the dancing girls just came twirling into my room for that part ;) Enjoyed - nice images as always with your tracks! Peace X
Nice flow to this folk bit, and a very entertaining performance, Mark. Interesting lyric, it would have been nice to read along, but I think I picked up most of the story! Great job with the vocals, you're handling both tracks? I'm green with envy! Instrumentation, theme and accent bring Donovan Leitch to mind, and that's a pleasant memory. Enjoyed this very much, rated.
You have an aspiring voice, as you have for making music. Harmonies and acoustic guitars are great. Flute's are also impressive but what I love most about this track will be it's grit and longevity. Rated for sure, Barry
Super piece this mark. Dawn's words are up to their usual hight standard. Very crisp production and well performed. Nice stereo and I love the flute - very folky.
This has a slightly late '60s vibe, but its not overtly so, and sits well as a contemporary Folk tune. Would go down well with Friends of the Earth I imagine! Nice litte tune, has your signature on it, (reminds me of Fair Isles in places) but is certainly individual sounding enough to hold its own. Rated? certainly!
Very nice Mark! You definitely have your own unique sound and Dawns lyrics are vivid and captivating! Think you've found your niche in the folk category. Vocals and harmonies are splendid and the wind instrument is a nice touch! Enjoyed this!
yeah very enjoyable track...cool vocals mark and nice lyrics dawn...i agree with mel its your signature sound...very folky :) tight bline and very good recording...very easy to listen to :) much enjoyed on my 3rd or so play...keeps dragging me back thumbs up
has your signature sound I've come to expect and appreciate whenever I come here for a listen - love the instrumental break section - good lyrics - nicely done Mark and Dawn:)
Started playing guitar when I was 8 years old, and then took up playing Bass when I was 16. Working with a couple of bands locally mainly playing Rock and Covers. Been writing songs for years but only recently (thanks to the advances in digital recording) started to work on recording them. I live in the South East of England.
Great song Mark the old guitar playing is coming along a treat....I will soon be out of a job......now send them out to everyone and become an international songwriter and star and I can say "I used to know that bloke" keep it up old bean, keep it up
This makes me think of day's gone by, freedom, and life's possiblities. Wow!
From the very start this song reminded me of Jethro Tull. The mood is very thick, and coupled with the lyrics does indeed bring thoughts of Sailors being taken from their families back in the day. I love how it makes me feel that I'm on a ship, and missing home.
great track Mark!!,,love the folky feel and the flute sections...makes me want to get back to the british isles, sit myself down in a pub with a nice guinness and ponder the world!! aaron bishop
I know of Mark's work with his bands and I am glad to hear him branch out with his solo work. He has a great ear for a melody and his lyrical structure is very good indeed. I shall watch this site and his progress up the cahrts with interest.
