Sawn to bits
Finally got here honey and glad I did.....this has bags of atmosphere and would work for mystery, speed and stealth beautifully. LOve to hear that Andy signature piano ripples in there and how could anyone not love little flutey bits? LOved it !
I get a "beverley hills cop" like soundtrack type of vibe from this except this would have been a way better song for that movie! I am always impressed with your songwriting prowess! -Mike
Leonardi da Vinci says .... A piece of art work is never finished, only abandoned. !! Now I'm not saying ol' Leo ws wrong but I think it's up to the artist to decide, and as Sean says - a trusted third party might say if it's cr4p or not. So my opinion for what it's worth - I like the keys. flute and orchestration, especially the downward triplets. the bass adds real tension... it's great. .... Rated .... Phil
I am very enthusiastic about the quality and variety of experimentation I hear on this site! This is one of the good things about being unsigned and listening to the work of other unsigned artists. There are no restrictions on what we create; the profit-driven marketplace has no say in what we do. You bring up an interesting point. When is a work completed? That can sometimes be very hard to determine. I have that problem often and find that, for me, one way to break through such a barrier is to play the piece for another person and see if that person is satisfied with the work in its current form. To my ear, SAWN TO BITS is a finished work of art. It is full of interesting elements that work beautifully together. The main theme is memorable and powerful enough to carry the piece along to its conclusion.
Hi Andy, from first low note I could hear your tight production. You are so consistent and accurate with what you call your hobby. Hobby, really! You're just dang talented and not only that but prolific. I'm sure there's a lot we haven;'t heard. No smoke here just appreciation.
Something familiar about this as you said. Apart from that this is unexpected from you and is just great. A delicate touch to it..............David
Cool piece of music dude and sounding good this end.. Bass synth drives this little beauty along very nicely and aptly titled! Agree that part of the lead sounds familiar but it gets the grey matter working overtime. Good choice of instrumentation too. Thanks for your advice and gets a thumbs from us. L&B;
Totally unexpected, where in the heck did this come from? Think ya know a guy, and he pulls something like this outta his hat....:) Enjoyed, especially the ivories, but strings and percussion sounding sweet too. Well done!
Hmmm....not sure what to make of this...got me puzzled as to what it reminds me of. Some TV detective theme from the 80's perhaps. Not an easy task to create to a tune on A note only! lol. Voted and ta for the DL. keith
Mellow track dude. Don't sound sinister to my ears...should it? Subtle production mate.
*quite. Predictive text.
I think the theme you are thinking you may have plagiarised is Mission Impossible. It is very similar. However the rest of the track is so different I think you would probably get away with it. Just lol. Quite a good a atmosphere created in the tension of the piece, with the sinister sounding strings and the timing of the drums. Maybe some carefully placed timpani and orchestral stabs for extra dramatic emphasis here and there would add to it. Still as an experimental track it's quits good. Rated, Craig.
Took a while to get this to start...must be all the pics loading :D..noticed the charts from 2009...some familiar names in there..nice bit of history :) toothy synth in here with the other un-sawn parts ...breathy flute is one of my favourite sounds...obligatory piano tinkles, strings moving...tight mix...a haunting quality to this...floats along in threads of melodic lines carried by the various elements...saw tooth bottom pulses..cool foundation. Enjoyed this bit of tense cinema. Strangely tranquil, yet moody. Thumbs Andy.
I began recording songs in January 2006. Genre is rock, pop and jazz with electronica dabbles on a few toons. It's a hobby for me. I record using cubase.
Home studio using a PC, yamaha keyboard, a couple of guitars and a Rode NT1A mic. I use cubase for recording/mixing and wavelab for mastering.
A strange fact - in 1976, the term "Mega" was 1st coined by me and came into general usage as meaning something great or awesome. I was an apprentice electrician at the time and "mega" was a technical prefix meaning "a million times". I remember that all my fellow students started using the term so maybe this was down to me. Nobody hardly says it anymore so i guess it's run it's course.
Another strange fact - i designed a telephone for use in a mortuary. Dead interesting lol!!!
Nice strong melody & energy to this track, would be great for the movies.
wow i felt like i was actually at a pink floyd concert excellent tune.
James Oakwood is a new name to me from MP3 Unsigned but hey, he is a man in love with his bed obviously so he's cool by me. He's also a rock artist which, as you well know, definitely fine by me. According to his webpage, he's only been writing and recording since 2006 and features a tasty pick of all his kit (is that a Dell?); the kind of stuff you need to make rock music. Even
Wooohooo!
A refreshing track about my fave place, I love it!
Keep em comming Mr Oakwood!!
