The tuneless and bitter rantings of a frustrated idealist. Fuelled by coffee and despair.

Armistice (Indie)

Artist Comments
I've been paying a lot of attention to what people have said regarding my recording technique. Everything I've learnt so far has been trial and error, and it shows, especially in the way I've handled my vocals in the past. I'm not saying this track is going to magically solve all those problems, but I've *really* tried with this one. I've tried every trick in my grab-bag to make this as visceral as possible. Obviously, it's not going to be perfect, and any extra advice is always appreciated. Anyhoo, this is a very strident, idealistic song. Perhaps even naive. It's just strange to have so many international friends and then have the media tell me I should hate them all.

There's not much to say. I'm a underpaid receptionist from Coventry, UK who records the odd track in his spare time. I've played different instruments in different bands and recorded a few demos. This is just an outlet for my own material. It's not much, but I hope something on here raises a smile. Also check out my old bandmate Paul James' website under Modern Composers. (If he bothers sorting it out any time soon) He's got a music degree so his music's better recorded and a lot freakier than mine, but I'm sure you're feeling up to it, gentle reader.

I wear most of my influences pretty openly. I'm a big fan of Robert Smith and Jarvis from Pulp, and I listened to a great deal of music from the late 70's and 80's. After listening to too much Wire, I became an obsessive cutter, trying to state everything in as few bars as possible, and recording urgently to try and capture some of the energy of DIY punk music. I learnt pop classicism from David Bowie and The Beatles, and I try to use that grounding as a springboard to anywhere.

Also, I play too many computer games. That occasionally surfaces in some tracks. Hope you have a high tolerance for silly bright synthesizer noises.
