A unique and innovative sound where strongly acoustic songs blend inventively with jazz, folk and rock genres. With a strong and soulful voice she searches the deep and the political, exploring such issues as consumerism, violence and modes of truth.
Rebecca’s musical journey started when she was a child, dancing and singing around her grandfather’s piano with her sisters. When, in later years, she began writing her own material she captured some of this careless innocence in quirky melodies and lyrics that point to a distant world. She fronted a university band and weaved amongst genres until she decided it was time to record her first album.
In a distinctly yellow spare room with two friends, Myths & Elegies was created. Time and money were sp.... but imagination brimming and an album rich with emotion was created. As a political, personal, and courageous offering it immediately pricked up industry ears.
A request to feature one of the album’s tracks on Got Beats Records’ Xpo Compilation readily followed and a cold-call posting to Sanctuary Records prompted an invitation to meet the Label’s Senior VP of A&R.; Rebecca was invited to work with producer Mark Hill and has consequently recorded a promotional EP with Mark and her former producer which debuts some of her finest work yet. She performs live regularly and lives in Exeter, UK by the river.
