NYCiTY SUBWAY - Rock
It seems as if you've pulled the levels back on the track sounds... I miss them :(
i like this it has an early Dream Theater feel to it back when charlie dominici sang for them before our canadian boy kevin james labrie stepped in.
First time I have stopped by your page - sorry about that - so much good music on here! Some really great keyboard sounds and percussion in this song as well as fine guitar playing - I agree with Ledbelly about the vox - would have liked to hear singing - but regardless a great rocker - a lot of originality.
Very cool stuff Rich & Andy. Love that guitar! What a blend of sounds! It works well. It reflects the hustle-bustle feel of a subway in a ignorantly-blissful sort of way. Then gets into the surreal nature of civilized life. Love the ending! Way cool!
wowzers....great listening for me...fairly gone to a far place with this one...really enjoyed the whole ride:)
I love the intro into the main riff. That verse riff is ridiculous!! You guys seriously rock my face off. Why no vox???? We need to collab! Check out Resonant Tones
Really impressed by this one, love the interesting opening and beyond that it captures an amazing live feel, and the guitar work is mental. Actually everything is tight as hell...Sorry it took me so long to get there, but it was worth the wait. Cheers, Jon.
Hi, This is great! Really rocky and energetic! Love the playing...really moving guitar work! Fantastic array of sounds that keep it fresh and exciting. Wow! Great stuff from the west of this vast cold country! Rated. Cheers (from another Canuck), Smudge from Smudgie
very good opening, nice strange blend of sounds mixed in with the more traditional, this site has some great guitar players:)likt the eletronice bleeps and blobs, would fit a game nicely halflife or somthing, good stuff
What a ride! Us west coast music junkies seem to appreciate NYC and its influence (and vice versa I suspect). You captured it perfectly!
Wow I mean Wow! What a Fantastic track everything is Right! Vin
Hi Richard, Great stuff, I especially love the synths in the background, they add a lovely dark atmosphere to the song, very tense and energetic. Keep it up :)
The tone is awesome. Very YES in style with a bit of FOCUS. Jan Ackerman hittin it right. Sweeping kills!
I haven't even finished listening to the whole track yet, but what I've listened to so far is awesome enough for me to leave a comment. Seriously, I'm speechless. Great track. Hats off to Andy as well for his master remastering touch. Did I mention this song was awesome? Well. . . it is.
BRilliant piece Richard - too many good things to say here so I did it in the review section;-) Rated and nominated, well done mate.
Sounds like a train beginning the track here. I like this sound. Very good beginning. I love the how the drums come in and they get things started. I'm digging the guitar riffs. Great stuff here. Nice chug with the guitar melody. Lots of notes. This sounds like something the Guilty Gear fighting games should have in it. Awesome energy. Lots of different sounds. When the bass drum speeds up really fast, it sounded slightly faded. Could just be my speakers? No probs! I love the song. That rising synth sweep sounds awesome with the mix. The sequence of the drums are top notch. The snare sounds awesome and slamming. Everything pretty much sounds great. I'm rocking my head alright. Then we come to the ending. The outro is great and the timing couldn't be any better. The atmosphere sounds superb, man. Guitar is flawless in this. I loved every minute of it. Have a rate!
hey i thougt i left words on this before dude... sorry bro.. to the track dark atmospheric noize.. good noize i might just add lol ..guitar playing is insane i envy you loads to play a instrument ... drums/percs all doing it for me.. along with them kool g riff melodies.. production crystal .. rated!
Nice n gritty tune, sounds like something you would hear in the game F.E.A.R., Niceone
im fairly certain you sent the remix pack to this a year or two again. you gotta dig the crazyness man. i really liked it then, and dig it even more now.
Dam this one hot fn track. Very dark and the guitar work is fantastic. Just keeps right on building and building. The guitar work just knocks me out Wow! rate eric BAD LOVE JUNKIE
Love the atmospheric guitar parts in this, and the drama in the playing, and the dark melodies brill. Worthy of a rockin' rate! Sonya Stewart.
This sounds mean and gritty, heavy enough for a Metal Instrumental(classed as a Metal song this would definately feature highly in the Metal User Charts). There's some fantastic lead guitar work and plenty more besides. In fact all instruments work together to take the listener on an exciting journey. The remastering work sounds very polished. Worthy of a rate!
I love the guitar tones...what did you use to get them?...original song structure and some great shredding..keep them coming, Rich!!!
RICH!!!!! This has me on the edge of my seat... on the f-u-c-k-i-n-g floor! This is one of the best tracks I've ever heard here! Total genious! WOW! I'm so jealous! I could go on about this until your strike is over (which I hope is tomorrow) The production Q is flawless, your playing is beyond reproach. M God! ..at 2:25.. speed! Not that I'm surprised, but WOW what intelligence in structure! My GOD!!!! I'd give this all 3 of my noms if I could !!!!!!!!!! I am slammed! This will always be with me on every road trip I ever take! It just gets better and better throughout! I can't tell you how impressive I find this! This is exactly my alley!!!!!! I wish/hope/pray that I can get this good some day. You are truely an inspiration to me. I'm proud to know you as a friend! NOM RATE COMMENT! Thank you for such a wonderful escape!
Hi Rich!Excellent piece from you again. Not qualified to comment on the production side ( not my thing) but the guitar is unbelieveable!A nice Rich sound peppered with some othere intrument influences which energise the track well. I am not a metal fan but you seem to be changing my mind.Great sound . Buttons pressed. Take Care Andy :)
Excellent track Rich. Extremely well constructed and performed. The soloing is first rate, I'm quite jealous of your playing. The mix sounded a little noisy through my speakers but enjoyed nevertheless. Rated. Craig
Exteme talent shinin on here all the way through !!! The melodic and off time vibe give this a timeless charm...so much cool stuff goin on This is a statement tune PLEASE keep em coming
Thoroughly enjoyable listen from start to finish Rich, guitar is fast, flowing and sounds great, a good fest of great sounds fx and key sounds in there too...great stuff mate :)
Rich - thanks for letting me have a go with this dude and thanks for the comment on you know what!!
Awesome. I need say no more. Have a rate and a nom. Nice work, Skipper.
WILD MAN! I listened to this with headphones on and cranked up.Took me away from my Country roots, lol.Nice job on it!
Thanks for the compliment and most of all for the advise. I will replace track with quality one. Love your style...........
Your definitely one of my (if not the) favourite guitarist on the site, as your stuff always has a touch of the avante garde which sets it apart, and Iike my FPS's with a bit of a horror element as well so bonus points for that as well. Particularly like the way you layer your guitars as well (know from experience myself how amazing your stuff sounds in isolation) You are quite a musician if you dont mind me gushing a bit :) Rated :)
love the intro as it builds up. great guitar playin and sound. interesting as different elements come in an out. great work, impressive musicianship.
G'day Rich,As with poetry, I let music "take me places". You have captured the frenetic pace of the subway (or as I imagine it would be) with the superb guitar work. I could easily see this as backing track in a hard paced action movie during a chase scene. very evocative and very well done. Cheers
Awesome bud, excellent guitar and synth work. Beautiful production with a polished finish, as always. The dark undertones work a treat to finish off the track. A very easy rate bud. Well done. Barry
I really see alot of "YES" influence in your work Rich... especially in the keyboard work... and the way you intertwine the guitar melodies and the keyboard counter melodies together... very pro and polished feel... I agree on the stereo image... maybe a bit wide but the track is a stomping track... great writing skills and the guitar work is amazing... you and Dan amaze me! all buttons bud
Pure class. Highly-skilled musicianship. What a stormer.
wow at middle-of-track guitar solo when it comes in big and again a minute or so later!! I love the whole track and particularly (apart from the fabulous guitar) I love the bass feel which gives me one of those ice-cream heads ya know? Overall has a full and rich feel to it (and LOVE subway noises!!)
Very imaginative, Rich, and some superb guitar work here, lots of interesting phrases. The first third of the piece evoked the feel of the NYC subway for me, those games must have got that right! I liked the bass myself, particularly when it started standing out later on in the song. Chimes were a nice touch! Nice drum track, this must have been fun putting together, I sure enjoyed listening. Rated!
I mean speed pickin. sorry
There we go, great sprrd pickin Brother Rich. Very nice track and an enjoyable listen.
Another piece of compelling listenin' Rich... As always superb axe work ...
Crits 1st...Drums are too low. Up em 3db and see how it sounds. Fast guitar coming in bout halfway is probably 2dB too loud. I would also check that the bass is dead central and maybe up it 3dB. Bass not very distinct at all dude. Maybe the stereo image is a tad wide as R says. Now the good news... it's freakin awesome dudes and RATED/NOM'D
The guitar playing is incredible. I always wished I could shred like that. Fat guitar tone and nicely produced. Great work guys!
im sure i commented on this before? i deffo heard it before...very cool guitar dude....in fact everything is cool...mix is very wide....not much in the middle makes it sound a bit tinny...but don't take anything away from it been a class piece of art :) thumbs up
This quite interesting.I like the way this was put together.love the guitar tone.Theres a full load of frequencies but they don't seem to clash. The only thing to my ears is that the general mix sounds bit far.Great guitar and key solo too!
well playing and awesome production as always.
trying to hone the fine art of songwriting...
If Rich has done this track from scratch, composing all of the intricacies of each part, I am completely floored. If he only did the guitar parts, I am 99% floored. I have to think that he is solely responsible for the entirety of this masterpiece as it has his unmistakable signature style written all over it. This, like many of Rich's pieces, brings to mind, immediately, the intelligence of the
I've enjoyed Rich "Iodine" Ramsey a great deal since the first time I heard his stuff. I, for lack of good reason, have just burned him to CD for the first time. So, so many nuances shine through on a quality sound system that are missed by listening through my decent computer's sound system. I have an entire new respect for his cutting-edge composition, production and performance skills. His orig
Like Batman, I love it when a plan comes together. Take, for instance, my first run in with Canadian rock gods iOD!NE (and that's positively the last time I am going to write it like that!) when I was blown away by Meander (December 2007) and laid a Must Have at their feet. The reason (well the main one anyway) is that I am an insatiable rock junkie and I need my regular fix - this ban
When I saw that Richard (iOD!NE) answered my post looking for guitar instrumentals to review I immediately went straight to his track. Sorry for jumping the queue but since I first heard iOD!INE I dug the progressive vibes and far out progressive guitar skills. And needless to say, this track shines as expected. The track starts out with some railway sounds, setting the atmosphere
It never ceases to amaze me the contortions some people go through to make up a bandname. I got the name right in the title but I'll be jiggered if I'm gonna do it all the way through this review. iOD!NE (OK, so I lied) is a new name to me from MP3 Unsigned and that's probably more my fault than his/hers theirs... Looks like a band too, although there is a distinct lack of information
good music and great arregment.
