This Forgotten Town (wt Terry Wigmore)
Came back to this after watching Pride...Welsh mining communities in the Thatcher era...Forgotten Towns indeed! Quite a lament.
Found one that havn't commented on before. Time for a new track perhaps? :) I always enjoy the offerings on your page and this is no exception. I think the marriage between the lyric and the music is spot on. Both let the listener know that something deep is going on here. Chanting is a nice touch... Very much enjoyed! Best to you.
Well, Well, Well, Seems like you have a touch of Country in your blood, WAIT AND SEE what can i say, yet another top track, This Forgotten town / its would seem that you and Terry Wigmore have a good understanding with your music, and it's sounding more and more like ATP with each track, Congrats to you both, Kev
whoa from folksy to techno acid truly paradoxically therapy I like thumbs
I can completely relate to this mate, it started in my village in the mid 80's!! This mirrors that situation so perfectly!! Excellent subject my friend and delivered in a stellar manner!! You use your power wisely to point out what is happening the world over, not in just the UK, the USA too!! Great music mate!!! Baz
Loving the collab. Nice backing. Like the dropping bass type sound. Rhythm fits well with Terry's vocal. Nice track mate and rated!
This is quite a strange sound you're creating here! This sounds like the madness of musicians, that might have been a good title for the song too. I can really relate to this song being a musician myself, it feels like a song that expresses what it really feels like to write music for many, many years... that's what this song says to me, "I'm working these unbelievably long hard hours trying to get the musical machinery purring and humming just right and it's wearing me out to point break of total exhaustion." I hope you don't think I'm insulting your song, I actually think this is quite one of the most amazing things I've heard. It's marvelous, great job Gibbo and Terry this is pure genius! Take care - DJ Frankie
What a well arranged, produced and performed tune! Really nice vocals too. Great job guys. Thumbs. Roger
thanks for takin time to drop by my place :O) streamin some of your toons again you sure know what it`s all about. do I look green? cos I feel it :O)
I liked this first time around, but you know what, it seems very apt with recent events in UK..........David
Economic insights set to a sobering track...2nd quarter job stats out...makes this Forgotten Town timely still :)
Hello Gibbo - sorry i'm so late to this one. Definitely a Wigmore sound to the track - great lead vocal and the "Why Why Why" refrain is very catchy. Like the electronica elements in the instrumentation. Nice production too. Enjoy your musical output Gibbo and look forward to the next offering. While i'm on your page will take another listen to one of my favourites of yours "Simple Things. Cheers. James
Hey Guys, I grew up in the middle of Indian Country, and saw both the good and bad sides of the economic story associated with native american culture..that being said this music captures the native spirit so well! Loved it! Thumbs!
Ahh!! amazing, what a sound im hearing, this is on repeat lol Nice lyrics!!! Thanks for the comment on my new track : ) Big votey thumby stuff on this one. Peace ES
Blimey - Terry is everywhere at the moment. What a prolific artist he is. Always admire your songwriting talent ATP - there are very strong melodic hooks in your work and we are envious. Love your voice too. Top notch production with depth and substance.Rated. John & Paul
This one got passed me but alas, here is me chiming in. That Indian chant calling the question that has no real solid answer. Human nature makes many bad choices it seems and the ghosts towns in various places are haunted like nothing ever changed but for the living. This is my take on this very good track.
enjoyed this, thanks my friends :O)
What a memorable track this is! I can imagine this song being featured in some climactic film sequence. Great fun!
Latest job figures in Canada seem to suggest an economic stall here...over there?...EU?..been a few years of less than stellar market performance and growth is just not getting any traction...this tune catches that sense of gloom so well....still enjoying this with a kind of morbid fascination :P
I have had a lifelong interest in North America native culture so this really touched a chord with me. Love the vocal layers on the chorus and the plaintive lyrics. Creativity just never stops. Love Wednesday x
phil collins and peter at same time lol
thanks for visiting my page, sorry my english is not very good, and i can t comment like others with Musical tecnical knowledge, i comment simple words, ok? lol....well i love this tune, the more i listen the more i like it, i like the guitar work, i think is the guitar, and the vocals remenber me peter gabriel, very good, rated
Thanks very much for your visiting my page and taking the time to listen and comment on me new offering.. appreciated. Enjoyed listening to this, love the rythm and its very well put together.. fab tune.
Very enjoyable listen! Your lead vocal works that melody and message very well, and Terry's chant does too. That harmonica sounds particularly sweet in that accompaniment, but it's all good. Thumbs up!
The connection to native American Music (at least as I percieve it) is really elegant and compelling! When fate strikes we are all equal and cannot do much about it. This song is unique! - / Peo
cool track.. that Wigmore Fella get around a bit :-) nice vibe and great lyric
Yeah liked the missleading intro that takes us to an unexpected change of style, almost reggae? Loads of sounds layerd and interest like the american indian type vocals and simple percs. Very effective track...cool :) Weldone guys.
Excellent follow up to "Tired" Kevin...relates well to something a lot of towns suffer at present. Also reminds me a little of a mega tune that was a big hit on the radio..called "Tribal voices"... Love those quirky guitar chops...and a Great production guys. keith
Nice job guys, very interesting track the intro had me wondering where you were going as it is very American Indian. Love the jauntiness of this one. Much enjoyed........David
Interesting intro and at first I thought it was going to be an American Indian song by the chant but I was wrong. The lyrics are so true and most of us feel that many towns have lost their souls with all the empty shops etc. Very well done Gibbo and some great additions to the music and vocals by Terry, all very well produced too. Bravo...
An interesting track to follow on the heels of Tired...tired in this Forgotten Town....tough place to be, I think. The heaviness in this track expresses the depressing reality of an economic downturn...could be anytown...anywhere...captured so well. This drew my imagination in from the get-go, Kevin - the mark of a song that hits the emotions. Thanks for allowing me to help out. Thumbs!
A hard hitting, and also poignant, timely song, nicely delivered, produced, and sung by Gibbo and Terry. I love the touch of Reggae in the guitars, strong bass (and bass drum!) and a vocal that reminded me a bit of David Bryne (very cool!) A great collaboration, and I love it, rated and D.L from me guys! Cheers, Andrew
A Tuesday Paradox was formed in 2008, a duo, Kevin "Gibbo" Gibbons and Byron Jones.
Byron Jones escaped the Paradox in Dec 2012 but his talent remains on this page.
Tony Gibbons wrote, sings and plays guitar on Never Gonna Let This Die, Byron on keys, Gibbo, more guitars and production.
CORINNE came to sing on "A Christmas Lament" and was responsible for writing and singing "Simple Things" with some musical accompaniment from Jones, Gibbons and Wigmore
Cure-ish, Floyd-ish and something else here that you bring to the table..gentle with a pinch of sadness and a latent strength all hidden just beneath the surface that glides and glistens between my ears. Absolutely lovely.
