Yamaharlot's Debut
Nice bit of reggae fun. Cool vibe going on here.
This is cool David - thanks for pointing me at it (with my Ishmael hat on). There's a little bit of a Tom Verlaine vibe here - your voice is a lot richer and deeper than his of course, but something about the delivery reminds me of his neglected classic album "Flashlight". Thumbs! PS I'm re-posting White Feather - should have left that on the site I think.
Hi Dave.... You sound has evolved over the years and yet it sill holds all the elements that made me dig it in the first place... Maybe a bit more polished garage sound.. Not too shinny though. Anyways, Its always makes me smile. You write one hell of a lyric my friend.
Musically this reminds me of a band I used to love early 90's "Sublime" They were an awesome dub act. Getting their vibe from this. I'm gonna have to dig their stuff out :) Love the live feel on this. Sun is out and all I need now is a big phat one. Shame tho as I quit smoking 3 years ago lol
Hi David, I love this wonderful, super-cool vibe, and yeah I get a really cool SKA/Rocksteady vibe here, and its so nice, and your words paint a wild and happening picture! Brilliant! Cheers, Andrew
a reggae beat I'm not normally into reggae but i do like this song reggae with a rock twist very cool indeed and easy to get into this is very a very infectious song it leaves me want more
Cool! Sorry I missed this 1 x around. Some cool elements in this song, with the mix of reggae, some modern percussion sounds with more organic drums/percussion. Wow. A train sound worked into a tune. Nice! Enjoyed this! Thumbs
I like this form of reggae you create in this offering. It seems to have a rock type twist intertwined and I feel that gives it more flare for the ear. Good song. Good work! -Mike
Really nice vibe going on here... yes I owned a Yamaha Natural Sound Stereo Receiver RX-770 that worked for over 20 years and sounded incredible the whole time, well worth the $500 price tag. Well this song makes me feel like I'm smoking again, reminds me of the Grateful Dead and Phish, a lovely song indeed. Like the sp...ly sprinkled vocals and the bass is very Reggae like with drums also reminding of Bob Marley. Excellent song mate!! Cheers! - DJ Frankie
Thanks one and all for the warm reception ya gave Yamaharlot's Debut, I like this girl and think she's fillin' Cap'n Casio's shoes far better than I thought possible :) Huge thank you to Michael Round (mykyndryd) for dressing her up with style on this bit!
I see Mike's been all over it....definitely got the right groove with his pickin!
Yamaharlot.....great handle. Good to hear the Sand Springs Railway has the hooter sound so prevalent in old Hollywood cowboy and injuns movies :-)
Lots of rhythms to choose from now ...poor Cap'n couldn't dance to a reggae vibe if his life depended on it :D...love the TRAIN...long train coming....wait that's been done :)...FUN Dave...that is the emotion...you're cutting loose with sounds...cheap sonic junkie :) love it. Glad Mike joins you too..more fun! Thumbs!
Nice to have a new toy to play with and Yamaharlot indeed!!! She is sounding sweet David and you with those naughty sounding vocals and lyrics left me quite flustered,,,,yeah and love that passing train too.
Dig these funky, cool vibes, mun! :)
Hi David - happy to jump aboard that 'ol Sand springs train with you on thi9s one. I think the Capn's legacy is in safe hands ... Rated.
Woohoo, glad y'all are enjoyin' this gal, she likes being watched...and this train she's pullin' now includes Mike Round (mykyndryd) on guitars. Jump in or have a peek, it's a party!
Fantastic stuff David, drum and bass for sure, totally unique sound and the train fits so well. Big welcome to Yamaharlot. Easy Rate, Gibbo
Ace!
Cracking funky and very sassy beat ...goes like a train as they say! :-) Cannot help but jig along to this...the trains timely appearance is spot on...great vocals! keith
Good use of your passing train!! All those kisses left me hot and bothered too...sheeeit, behave! WTG David!!
Suggestive drum and bass solo with the right drive to begin with. Makes you curious, what it will lead up to! Your intense and "raw" vocals are SO UNIQUE! Rated of course. --/Peo
Thanks for the early listens, Rich, Phil and Dan. Tweaked the mix per your suggestion, Dan, glad you caught that, buddy!
Love the track, would dig the vox being up a bit more in the mix but understand you probably have em where ya want em. Does the RR get some of the royalties when this goes on to be a classic?
Djc does d&b....; Got to love the railway co, i guess it was hard lines, still - its a great track :). Nice drums from a new machine I guess, and bass just groovin along there, sublime vocals. Phil
Love being the first to comment. Ha, got here first!! Glad I did as I was just about to shut this box down and then you bring up this tasty little smokey number. Love those long bass strides with the drum hits. Ya just nailed a very unique track and the way you deliver the vocal is just taking this over the top for me. Wonderful, like over pouring my drink. Thank you very much. Pour another for my friend here.. Hay, where'd that train come from?!
The "and Company" indeed makes all the difference! I'm David Joel Carter, a songwriter from Tulsa, Oklahoma, pleased to meet ya! There's a solo piece or two of mine in here, but these are mostly collaborations with family and friends, local and around the world over the net. The "band" changes with almost every song, there's quite a bit of variety here, and some really amazing talent.
Jan. 4, 2016 - Major housecleaning going on; if there's a tune you recall but don't see anymore, and would like a copy, drop me a note, I've probably got it somewhere :)
