Music industry makes artist's and fan's not care about music
Michael Ritchie Michael Ritchie is offline 17-03-2012, 00:59 AM

I have never ranted here so this is to just blow off steam. I'm tired of peolple telling me that music is dead when all they have to do is check out Mp3unsigned! This is the only place on the the internet with honest musician's that work hard at their music whlie caring enough about other musician's to listen and offer constructive criticism to them. Oh, and it's a free site! The other sites are just a business concerned not with music but rather "press kits" and B.S. like this. I tried to enter a guitar center guitar competition but could not unless I had a Facebook account! I guess so they can see how many FB friends I have. The more friends the better my music sounds to their wallets. Have we lost our souls as a society and the "if everyone else is doing it is the thing tehn me". Nothing ever changes. I will gladly donate $50.00 to Mp3unsigned if someone would just tell me how to do it rather than waiste one single second on any of the rest of the internet sites! Please, don't change much Mp3unsigned. I feel as if all my effort in music is not a waiste simply because of the amazing musicians here that have listened to my songs and offered feedback. Every single musician might tell you that they don't care if their songs are ever heard but that's bull-^$%$. Music is only fun if you have other people to share it with. Otherwise its just self masturbatory in every way. I'm serious about a donation so someone please let me know. Thanks for having this rant site in the forum as I feel better know. Thanks -Mike

It's good to blow off steam
Pretty much agree about the big faceless, corporate sites.
It's business though, like it or not and Facebook is a great way for competition holders etc, to spread the word.
Free advertising.

Music is dead? Maybe the music industry is dying, but music will never die...in my ever so humble opinion

...and yeah,MP3Unsigned is one of a kind

Andy Warhol is to blame, telling everyone they can have 15 minutes of fame. Now, with the internet, every sad case who thinks they can be famous is drowning us in shite! Except in this sanctum of sanity of course, where all is good.

Tony

Thank you Kelly, Tony and KTA for the feedback. You all make valid points and with the advent of the internet it seems Tony is correct about the fifteen minutes of fame. There is way too many self proclaimed musicians today and I'm probably as guilty as any. To think that in the last one hundred years we probably never even came close to hearing or discovering the best musicians out there. Makes one wonder what we may have missed?

Default Saxx Mobile – Albert Mita Scammer – Saxx Mobile Scam - Exposed

Ludicrous spam and accusations toward 3rd parties totally unrelated to this board or music in general.

You my friend are banned.

Default I was about to rant about something and this rant totally killed my rant!

MANY EXCELLENT POINTS!

I'd rather have zero fans and people talk to me about the music and share experiences, thoughts and ideas than to have 5,000 fans who all say I'm great, or some other generic-ass comment that ReverbNation fans have claimed about my songs - “I stopped in for a visit and had a Great Time !!!!! Awesome Job !!!” Really? Was their a petting zoo when I was away? Strippers? Booze? WHAT HAPPENED???? I have never had a great time there.

ReverbNation even tells you which artists are listening and how much of the song they listen to - most of the generic compliments don't even bother clicking the play button! I never would imagine that I'd delete a fan, but I spend most of my administrative time there doing just that!

The music industry is Dead that's why this is where the life is and where the future lies - it is a bit like pitching up in the park and playinjg like in the good days when we were moved on from the Kings Road and once and ended up putting on a damn good show under the arches at Putney Bridge - except here you not struggling to find somewhere to plug in. How can any honest person make a fortune out of the music industry?? I have lost more friends through money and drugs and we have all known folks tipped over the edge by it.

Peddlars throughtout civilization brazened their wares and goods in public with a little tune in the background - I agree most were villainous and you would never trust them close up (so, perfect for the internet !). if you want to see why honesty and fame don't often share the same breakfast table you don't need to look far. This has become so endemic of our way of life I am so pleased to have MP3unsigned as a sanctum - thanks to admin for taking up the chalice from the biker man and putting up with all the agro . I share your sentiment Mr Ritchie that I would also be willing to donate to the site and keep this spirit going - wonder how many would donate to FB in such a way??

Default In all fairness to "Guitar Center"

In all fairness after speaking with a representative for Guitar Center (a US large musical instrument outlet store). I was informed that there was no requirements for participating in it's "King of the blues contest" other than signing up at my nearest Guitar Center retail store by the end of April as that is about the time you need to submit to enter said contest. ?. Therefore, until that time next year comes around and I have had a chance to enter the contest at my nearest GC store, I must take the representative at his word and I would like to issue an appology to Guitar Center for my error!

Sincerely,

Michael Brandon Ritchie
