Well, they haven't spammed the entire internet as far as google can detect.

Why not reply and ask what they are offering? Bottom line is, if they are asking for money up-front, its most probably a scam.

One thing, they don't make specific reference to any of your tracks which would make me a little cautious. They do mention your artist page on MP3unsigned but don't mention the name of your project which smacks of a generic email however, we haven't received any complaints from other members yet about them spamming from their artists pages. No harm in checking them out, as Management3 said, if they are looking for money upfront then they are unlikely to be legit but then again they could be above board.
Keep us posted as to how you get on!

Hi guys,

Thanks for your response Amadeus.

Just a quick update.

I sent the following email to ArtAvant a few days ago:

Hi Jamie,

Thank you for your interest in my music.

I was just wondering which tunes in general you liked.

I might be interested in working with you. I hope that you can appreciate
that there are some horror stories going around regarding companies trying
to scam artists with these sort of offers.

Please provide me with more info and I will take it into consideration.

Kind regards,

Mo.</font>

Today I got the following reply from them:

Hello Mo,

Thank you for your response to our request. We do understand there may be a few
questions you have regarding our company and our interest in your music. We read
your posting on MP3 Unsigned.com and understand your concerns.

We would very much like to speak with you at your convenience to address any of your
questions.

You can speak with myself or our Artist Relations office at 1.866.249.8906. We are
on Eastern Standard Time.

Best Regards,</font>

Jamie</font>

So far so good. I'll respond as soon as I get the chance.

My only concern is that I'm based in the UK. I don't know if that will cause any issues...

Anyway, I'll get back to you guys to let you know how things progress.

Regards,

</pre>

Good going so far Mo, and its not a death knell just yet seeing as they have replied, which atleast means they don't have millions of emails to reply to.

However, I personally would not be calling internationally from my home/mobile phone just yet. I would ask them again via email what it is they are actually offering as it not clear.

If they don't now give you a response which includes hard facts/figures from which you can make a decision then my instinct indicates that they are either stringing you along so that you will take any half-baked offer or they are so amateur as to not have any idea what they are doing themselves.

Jamie, ifyou are actually reading this thread and are genuine then you would do youself no injustice by posting publicly and revealing to the whole community what your company are offering.

The AvantArt Audio /listing awaits.

Default I've received this too

Hi,

Today I received a similar message, and found this forum from Googling "artavant".

Hello!

Greetings and warm regards.

My name is Jamie Short and I am a Producer for ArtAvant. We are a new media network that is developing a unique programming concept which will feature music by talented artists like you. Our company has been in development for quite some time and is now on the verge of establishing a media presence with the intent of reaching a worldwide audience.

We are reaching out to you and select artists throughout the world to present an opportunity to promote your music in a revolutionary new way. Our concept is to create television and broadband programming that presents works such as yours to a vast audience and to provide a new avenue for marketing yourself and your music.

In our research, we have heard some of your music and would like to extend an invitation to you to submit your work for the possibility of licensing. Your CDs “When the Wind is High”, and “The Cambrian Sky”, featured on CDBaby and on your website, are examples of the type of work we are interested in exploring.

At ArtAvant we are committed to treating the art and the artist with the highest regard and respect. We appreciate your consideration of this invitation and we are excited about the possibility of working with you.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please reply to this e-mail and additional information regarding the submission process will be provided.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,

etc.

The message does refer to my CD's by name, although, interestingly, no actual audio samples from The Cambrian Sky are available yet at CDBaby.com, though they are at my web site, which is also mentioned in the message.

Mo, I find it interesting that we both record instrumental music.

I will also respond to the message - probably by phone as I am in California; will monitor this thread; and will post here if I learn anything new about this.

Thanks much.

Greg

Default Artavant

Hi I have been in contact with them over the last few months and my expirence has been well good thus far. I was offered a private invitation myself and have spoke with them personally over the phone a number of times. The submissions I have made are in the licensing process and I dont know much else as the whole process has taken months. But I do think that they are on the up and up so to speak. Let me know what your interactions are in dealing with ArtAvant.
