Feels like home...
LIQUID LIQUID is offline 15-08-2013, 17:18 PM

Like so many I wander away from this site but never for too long. Been absent for one reason or another quite a bit this year but now I'm back it feels comfortable and good to see (and hear) the heart of the place still beating strong.

Just thought I'd add a view, from a relative newcomer to mp3u, that artists of "yester-year" (however many years or months it has been since the last visit or last upload ), when they reappear and leave comments on other tunes, or comments in the Forum, their presence is observed and it often brings a sense of hope and renewal simply by returning. Of course, the community benefits more, I think, from regular (and frequent visits, but the effect is akin to saying, "Gee (Ok, forgive that pun), it was nice to see Liquid poking around for a bit!" - other names could be used here, of course. The effect of your presence and comments does give a little breath of freshness into the hallowed halls of mp3u (which can become rather stale if there is little newness being introduced/re-introduced).

Home is...where we can hang our hats and take off our coats for a spell, and it feels like we never left.

Good to see artists returning

All the best,
Terry

The heart of the place still beating strong??? Erm yer not quite sure what drum your listening to but from my observations it's like a blimen graveyard around here. Clicky, bitter and unwelcoming is the words I would user for this site lately....sorry for speaking MY truth but that's how I view it...sad but true!

Hey Saph,

A big improvement has been made to the site today. The only real complaint people have had recently has been fixed - an annoying error message that appeared when people left comments on many if not most artists' tracks (fair enough it would be nicer if it had been fixed long ago, but the thing is - it's been fixed!)

But you ignored this piece of good news on the forum to go back to an older, mostly positive, thread and post a bit of negativity.

No offense, but who do you think looks kinda bitter right now?

I appreciate the comments here, whether I agree or disagree, or land somewhere between Saph and Phil. I'm just glad there is a bit of an exchange. That is exciting to observe because it is a sign of life An idea posted by one artist, added to in a freedom-of-speech- open-mic way will always present contrasting views. That's the way people seem to be - studies in diversity.

I happen to agree with Phil but I do understand Saphire's opinion. The site will always be what the users/members want it to be, and we will see in it, what we choose to focus on, whether that is the positive parts, or the troublesome parts.

Is the cup half full or half empty?

This site was recommended to me 2 years ago. I have had no regrets at all since joining, and I invest a lot of time and energy in this place to help keep a positive spin on some of the troubles and to share what little I have to offer in terms of technical/musical/philosophical awareness (I am reluctant to call what I offer "knowledge" I do believe the strength of this site is its relatively small size and the sense of community in engenders. More can be done, and I'm sure we'll get there, if "there" is where we all want to go.

Thanks to Anthony, for coming around after a while. Saphire, maybe a collaboration is due?...helps work out stuff, I find. And Phil, I still play Muslamic Ray Guns, and recall the delicate way you tap-danced around the possibility of it being perceived in some inappropriate way. I admired the tact I was reading, and enjoyed music. Well done!

Good thread, here, I think.

all the best,
Terry

I for one would love to do a collab with Saph someday - always loved her vox! I approached Saph a few years ago to sing the chorus on a track. We had a very friendly exchange but the subject matter wasn't appropriate for her at the time, and I totally understood her decision.
No hard feelings on my part!

Oh dear. That one stuck out a mile - I should have seen it coming a mile off.
