Great song you have here. I'm a music publisher with BMI. I'm involved with a few business associates launching a new website. Which is going to be good for bands getting massive exposure, selling CDs, TShirts and getting radio and internet airplay so that you will get royalties from your songs plus have your gigs live so that you can sell tickets. You keep almost everything that you make. To opt-in and to be notify once this site becomes live which should be in about a month before christmas. We will also have also classified searches for bands looking for musicians within your local area. Our new site is called http://promotingthebands.com Also if your songs are not published then you need will need to get them published. In which we would published your songs that way they are protected and from that you will receive royaties from BMI. If your not an affiliate writer with BMI here is thte link https://applications.bmi.com/affiliation/joinen.aspx It's free to join. For more doesn't hestiate to give me a call. Oh bugger, he hasn't announced himself as a CEO. That's my sweeping generalization theory knacked! The clue is in the text for people wanting to make money from their music....
You keep almost everything that you make. Well ok, do it all yourself and you keep EVERYTHING that you make. Huzzah!

They didn't take the time to grammer and spell check their copy and paste statement either. Also, bmi pays you the royalties according to their website. So they won't pay you anything it sounds like. You have to hope bmi sends you a check, they are who you have to deal with. Website also looks like someone downloaded a free template and just changes the words of "enter text here" to "promote your band"

Ron picked up on this one the other day too, here's a copy of my reply to that post:
Hmmmm, plenty of spelling mistakes and poor grammar. Also, there is no mention of any of this on BMI.com which is not good. Promotingthebands.com is registered by proxy via domain privacy company so you can't see who owns the domain - unusual as a genuine company would want to keep their corporate contact details clearly visible to the public. Smells like a total scam to me. Why on earth would a non-profit corporation like BMI feel the need to contact unsigned artists via their comments pages? Looks like the site could be set up as a phishing site using elements of the real BMI site to trick users into giving over personal info. On further inspection, the companies website is actually tjcmusicpublishing-bmi.com.... no they are not BMI at all, just someone trying to piggy back off the BMI name. Also, this massive corporation uses a gmail account... |
