ORCHID (WIP)
Nice song.
There is a nice Cliff Richard lisp effect on this vocal. Only joking - beautiful song, thoughtful and full of emotion. Ace. Love Wednesday x
Hey James, gotta agree with Carol. No warts here. Just a sweet melodic song with wonderful vocal and harmonies especially at 1:40 and on the outro! Subtle orchestration is nice and blends well. Rated!
Dear, and tender song... precious this is! Harmonies are spot on~ and I simply adore the acoustic simplicity. =Bravo=
Hey this is a really cool track. The vocals are really good and powerful, supported with excellent lyrics. I especially like the parts where there's a trade-off type thing between the multiple vocal parts. Great job! Can't wait to hear the final product! Thumbs!
Beautiful lyrics.Quite a haunting song,sung with real passion.Rated Paul
Hi James, yeah like this one chief. Has great potential and isn't a million miles away from where it needs to be. Harmonies are good and effective. Maybe some more low end string sounds carfully panned might enhance? Something to add bass? Maybe some picking sounds? Have fun with it! Good song
Man I can't wait to hear this finished! James, you and your band have a knack for music and it shows even in one of your WIP. I'm really digging what your doing at the 1:40s - 2:03s Vocally. Other than maybe a bit better balance on the final mix in some of those vocal harmonies? -I would say you aren't far from done on this! Really cool guy's! Keep up the great work -Mike
I really like the opening (although the synth cello doesn't work for me ;)...wonderfully crated tune...sensitive topic, gently rendered..until you raise the roof ("Don't Go There.." section esp)...tough to mix t hat part (as per comments from others). Dynamics make this, though! That sells the package, I think. You show quite a range...I like that ;) Well done! Thumbs!
Neat song James. I'd take some bass off the vocal - it peaks annoyingly in places. Not sure I'm a fan of the slow panning of the guitar but it does sound really nice. I see Craig says similarly on the vox. A few high end esses can be heard (guilty myself). Something else to consider working on. Also agree with making a bit more room for the strings somehow. Experiment a bit. Ya could, actually add some top end eq to the strings when the song gets going but eq is fine at the intro and the little fx on the strings is nice too. Overall ya need to keep the vox (and backing vox) a little more under control. Good song - enjoyed it dude and thumzup
Hey guys, boy this is a pretty song. I hear what Graig is saying and respect his ears but, I find the feel of this is right for the song and the lively bright feel. The sound suites the message and creates an atmosphere that inviting and melodically compelling. I really like this and yes it grows on you with each listen. Beautiful.
Having listened a few times the only pieces of constructive advice I can give you are comments on mix. Generally speaking the mix is very good but there is a bit of a frequency clash between the cello/strings and the lead vocal, this is most noticeable on the held vowel sounds when the two almost become one. This is partly because you're singing in a fairly low register but could be separated by Eq. Personally I would say leave this space for the strings and drop the vox a fair few db's on these frequencies. Hard to pin point by listening but somewhere around the 300-600hz roughly, play with the eq a bit to find it. Most of the vox is doubled anyway and there are lots of harmonies so I don't think you need to worry about leaving the vox sounding thin. Perhaps introducing some percussion later into the track would give the arrangement more of a sense of growth. Neither of these things are game changers and I probably wouldn't even mention them if I weren't specifically looking for something to help you improve the track which has grown on me more the more I listen. Good song, rated. Craig
Just a great song. WIP notwithstanding...one of my favorite from you guys to date actually. Love the minimal approach with vox, geet and that cello/string/whatever "soaring over" the bottom....
