From Nottingham, Mokey are not your average band, they are a fantastic group of singer-songwriters, and a fantastic group of friends. It's not often you get four members of a band who are as close as Justin, Paul, Helena and Lee. This is reflected right through Mokey, both in their songs, and their live performances. Formed in early 2004, with drummer Lee Dobson joining slightly later, they are already making a big impression on the acoustic music scene. One striking thing about Mokey is the fact that they are in it for the music, and the fun of making music, not some quest to be big and famous or to look like the next band to grace the front cover of NME. They write, and play music the way it should be done, and the way it used to be done. With songs that are deep and sometimes slightly dark, they manage to paint an emotional picture, with beautifully penned lyrics and clever turn of phrase, keeping you hanging on every word.
